Super Vectrex Multicart (SVM) Usage Notes:

Using the long press feature of the Reset button will result in returning to the SVM Main Menu allowing for selecting of a different ROM title.

(e.g.: "Art Master", "Mail Plane", etc.) The title will start and the game can be selected. But actions needing the Light Pen will be unavailable. (e.g.: In Mail Plane game play destination selection and package loading cannot be accomplished.)

Original era and homebrew ROMs requiring extra RAM on the printed circuit board (PCB) are not supported by the Super Vectrex Multicart. No RAM exists on the SVM PCB. Those titles are not included on the SVM. (e.g.: "Animaction") Extra RAM was not included on the SVM PCB to keep the sale price as low as possible.

Usage notes and ROMs titles list.

Usage notes and titles list in this document were compiled from various posts.

Super Vectrex Multicart (SVM) Usage Notes:

Super Vectrex Multicart title selection functionality as used with the Vectrex Reset button. SVM supports a feature to use the Vectrex front panel "Reset" button in two different ways. A quick press. Or a long (greater than 1 second) press.

Using the quick press feature of the Reset button will result in restarting the currently selected ROM title.

Using the long press feature of the Reset button will result in returning to the SVM Main Menu allowing for selecting of a different ROM title.

Some of the ROMs in the titles list are a multiple game title ROM in themselves. (e.g.: All Good Things.) After selecting the ROM the player will be presented with the title's menu inside the ROM for choosing other individual games inside the ROM.

Some of the ROMs below require accessory hardware in order to start and use the title. Such as a Vectrex 3D Imager, Light Pen, or third party spinner controller.

All "3D" ROM titles requiring the Vectrex 3D Imager will show a blank display after starting the game without the 3D Imager attached. (e.g.: "3D Crazy Coaster", 3D MineStorm", etc.) This is expected and normal operation for a 3D title. To see game play graphics displayed plug a 3D Imager into Vectrex Controller Port 2.

All ROMs requiring the Vectrex Light Pen (LightPen) will provide only limited usage after starting the title without the Light Pen attached.

All titles in the list noted with "(IL)" are a modified version of the title with infinite lives for use by the player.

All titles in the list noted with "(Invincibility)" are a modified version of the title where the player cannot be hit and killed.

All titles in the list noted with "(Level Select)" are a modified version of the title where the player can choose the starting level.

All titles in the list noted with "(Spinner)" are a modified version of the title enabled to use a spinner controller. Usually in controller port 2.

All titles in the list noted with "(Button)" are a modified version of the title enabled to use a the controller's buttons to control player moevement.

All titles in the list noted with "(Joystick)" are a modified version of the title enabled to use a the controller's joystick to control player movement.

All titles in the list noted with "(2D)" are a modified version of the title enabled to operate without the use of a Vectrex 3D Imager.

All titles in the list noted with "(BCG)" are a ports from BASIC games by Ralf Kornmann based on the original games in the 1973 edition of "101 BASIC Computer Games" by David H. Ahl.

All titles in the list noted with "(Speed)" are a modified version of the title incorporating increased speed of one or more game design elements as compared with the original title. (e.g: For Berzerk (Speed) the player, bullets, robots and Evil Otto all move a bit quicker.)

    MOON LANDER
    Author Clay Cowgill
    Game Creation: Year 1997
Game Publisher: Mark's Vectrex Carts, Mark Shaker
Publication Production release year: Jan 23 1999.
Platform: Vectrex / Kousokusen / 光速船

"MOON LANDER is a reimagined version of the classic 1979 Atari "LUNAR LANDER" arcade vector game. Being Atari's first vector graphics title of course the there is a Vectrex version! But with more game play features, level, and opponents.

First 32K Vectrex cart. (At the time of creation. Eclipsed by other titles while waiting to be released.)
First high-quality digitized audio playback on Vectrex.
First Vectrex game with intro and "cut" scenes.
Interesting Attract Mode with voice, action and unique credits.
Game pause screen with level information.
    Easter Eggs to be discovered.

The initial game coding resulted in a playable version back in 1997. But the release version probably didn't happen until close to when Mark Shaker published the boxed MOON LANDER in 1999.

Game Design and Programming by Clay Cowgill.
Game Design and Programming by Chris Salomon (aka "Malban").
Cartridge Manufacturing and Publishing by Mark Shaker.
PC Board Design by Richard Hutchinson.
Vectrex Cartridge Case Design by John Dondzila

This particular Boxed MOON LANDER is the second Vectrex game published by Mark Shaker. Sold via "Mark's Vectrex Game Cartridge Manufacturing". Also known as "Mark's Vectrex Carts". And later on his "vectrexcarts.com" site. Publication release on Jan 23 1999.

Released nearly 30 years after the first Apollo Moon landing!

From the MOON LANDER's game instructions:
"Outer Space is a dangerous place!

To get home you must "hop" from moon to moon. Each landing will bring you 1 step closer to home.

You must make 32 landings to make it home alive.

You star with 3 ships / And additional ship will be awarded after every 5 successful landings.

Each moon has different terrain, gravity, and wind.

There is a fuel limit on every landing.

You can land only on designated landing pad. Each landing pad is marked with it's fuel bonus multiplier.

Oh yeah, did I mention the satellites and killer satellites?

    Good Luck and God Speed!"

    Complete in box.
    Like New In Box.
    Tested.
    Working.

    Comes with
    • MOON LANDER Game Cartridge.
    • Game Instructions.
    • Clamshell Game Box.
    • Clamshell game box includes Cover Art insert.
    • Cartridge shell comes with MOON LANDER cartridge label.
    • Board housed in early custom cartridge shell design by John Dondzila. Intellicart cartridge shell, modified Intellivision cart.

The Intellicart shell housing was used before access to Sean Kelly's reproduction Vectrex cartridge shell was available. At the time the relative scarcity of the OEM Vectrex cartridge shell was low compared to the plentiful OEM Intellivision cartridge. This prompted John to use the Intellivision cart shell modified to hold a Vectrex game printed circuit board for use in his Vectrex game production. Mark Shaker also used the same design for his first game Vectrex publications including Clay Cowgill's MOON LANDER.

    • Cartridge shell comes with MOON LANDER cartridge label.
    • Board housed in early custom cartridge shell design by John Dondzila. Intellicart cartridge shell, modified Intellivision cart.

This prompted John to use the Intellivision cart shell modified to hold a Vectrex game printed circuit board for use in his Vectrex game production. Mark Shaker also used the same design for his first game Vectrex publications including Clay Cowgill's MOON LANDER.

    Game Creation: Year 1997

Define "Vectrex in great condition" with more granular adjectives.  %!#$&ing "Great condition" and "Mint" are so misued.

The Jaguar has become pretty pricey. It’s the only Atari “released” home console that I don’t have in my collection and looking at the current prices, I may never bother.

The recent homebrews look pretty amazing.
