Sabertooth Posted January 30 Report Posted January 30 Balls of Steel was jist re-released by Atari. It has been updated for modern PCs and includes two new Atari-themed tables. Unfortunately, the re-release loses the Duke table. Available now on Steam for $8.99. Justin, sramirez2008, DegasElite and 2 others 4 1 Quote

Atari 5200 Guy Posted January 31 Report Posted January 31 That needs to be on the Atari VCS! TrekMD, sramirez2008, Smell Dawg and 2 others 5 Quote
Sabertooth Posted January 31 Author Report Posted January 31 I downloaded this on Steam at lunch and ran on my VCS in PC-Mode. It crashed on my 8GB VCS but was fine on my 16GB unit. I did not have the original BITD, so I don't have any nostalgia for the game. However, the options menu and scrolling view from the original game are not enabled. This is offputting for me as I prefer zoom and scroll tables - at least optionally. The new Atari-themed tables are cool and in a much higher resolution than the original tables. The original tables are presented with a ton of black/empty space. Overall, this is a bit underwhelming. I'd much rather play Pinball Fantasies on the Jaguar. It's only $8.99, but I'd wait for a 50 percent off sale TBH. DegasElite and MistaMaddog 2 Quote
Sabertooth Posted January 31 Author Report Posted January 31 (edited) And it is in Unity. It should 100 percent be on the VCS. Minus 10 points Atari. Edited January 31 by Sabertooth DegasElite 1 Quote

Release your classic collections on the VCS! I really wish some old school publishers would jump on and put up some VCS offerings. Not in PC mode either. Sabertooth Posted February 2 Author Report Posted February 2 This isn't as bad as I thought. Four of the five classic tables do have scrolling view options, which makes it feel better IMHO. The three tables I tried Wednesday do not. These are Missile Command, Centipede and Devil's Island. Why scrolling wasn't implemented for these tables is anyone's guess. I wonder if it was a technical issue or some other reason for the decision. Sabertooth, DegasElite and Smell Dawg 3 Quote 🖖 Going to the final frontier, gaming...
