New Kids On The Block have a new song out with Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley and En Vogue. The song is called "BRING BACK THE TIME" and it "takes it back to '89". They've made an AMAZING music video which riffs on a slew of retro '80s music videos that we grew up watching on MTV and VH1. I especially got a kick out of getting Rick-Rolled by Rick Astley as David Byrne from Talking Heads.
New Kids On The Block will be hitting the road this May on their “Mixtape Tour” which features Salt-N-Pepa, Rick Astley and En Vogue. So, it’s only appropriate all four acts collaborate on a new song and a video that honors some of the most iconic videos of the 1980s.
Embedded above is “Bring Back the Time,” which was written by Donnie Wahlberg and Lars Jensen. While the video will get a ton of attention for all of the music videos it spoofs — from A Flock of Seagulls to Journey to Toni Basil — the song should receive just as much attention, because it’s really good!
There are 12 videos/personalities recreated in the “Bring Back the Time” video. See if you can spot them all! And if you get stuck on a reference, I'm posting all of the original music videos below, too.
Which music video is your favorite? Do you have a favorite memory of 1989?
