  1. Well in the case of my opener it was when MyQ was first being rolled out. So it came built in with the wireless comms to the transmitter base. That base is in my computer room wired to the network. So the cloud app talks to the Base on my network to give me the status of the door and sends alerts etc. It has been really nice accept for times when the cloud is down and I needed to use the app or sometimes the new app updates will sign me out of the app and I have to try and remember my login/pass to get back into it LOL! But yes I have the ability to open/close it from the app on my phone at any time. I have alerts setup so if the door is opened outside of times when I know my wife and I aren't home I will know about it. Naturally I can do other stuff like set it up with Amazon Key and stuff, but I'm NOT doing that either. The app is the best thing I think because in the past I was always leary of leaving the remote in the cars that were parked outside as I've seen plenty of houses get broke into at night because thieves see the remote attached to the visor or whatever. Break in the car window and use the remote to open the garage and now they usually have access to your house or at least anything in the garage at that point. This is critical in the security of my house since my wife and I pretty much enter and leave through the overhead garage door and rarely use the actual front or side door entrances to the house. Although I do keep my set of keys on me anytime I'm aware from the house in case the app gives me issues or I'm unable to open the garage for some reason to enter.
  2. I bought mine through Sean Kelley as he had them available CIB before Pakrat did. Although I did have a pre-order for one through Pakrat that I then cancelled once Sean had his for sale. Pretty sure mine was part of the first batch of the game released and I don't believe mine has an LED in it either. I think my Christmas cart from Binarystar and my Vecfever are the only carts with LEDs in them.
  3. I've got MyQ on my Chamberlain opener as well. Although I opted to NOT install the outer remove keypad. We also do NOT have a handle on the doors inside or outside so the opener is the only way to easily open the door. My wife keeps a remote in her car to open/close it, but she also keeps her SUV in the garage. My car stays out so I only use the phone app to open/close the door. I have mine set to auto close after 3min of being left on and the sensor not being tripped. That way if I or my wife should forget to close it, it will close on its own. But that is the extent of any smart devices I have in the house. I'm a huge techie, but I'm not that keen on so many devices being tapped into the web either. I've thought about getting a roomba or something like that but we have two floors in my house and I would need one for each floor and... the entire bottom level is hardwood laminate and I think a roomba would have issues between that to the sudden runners and the like that are near shag on their fabric.
  4. Very impressive! Vector Pilot is excellent so it doesn't surprise me that at the time you ordered those he was already nearing a #1000 on that one. I wonder how many Vectrexians he has sold now as that was his first release I believe? I really need to fire up my Veccy more often...
  5. I've already paid for my pre-order for this one. I played the demo and it was pretty fun. Kai Magazine makes really good Intellivision 'brews so I'm sure they will give this title as much if not more of the same attention that they have their Intellivision games. My only issue with Kai Mag games is the limited availability. Their Intellivision games for instance were first only sold as digital releases for LTO owners. Then if you happened to visit PRGE in 2019 as I did, then you found out that some of that digital only releases did get a Cart and Manual release at the show of which, I bought some of them. The point is that their other Intellivision games were all done on pre-orders and once that was done and filled, that was basically it. So it is hard for me to review and recommend their games because when I finally have them in hand, you can't get them anymore anyway since it required having to pre-order to buy them in the first place.
  6. I have few printer boy covers in my setup as well. But I always prefer to buy from Barb and her hand made pleather covers she makes for most consoles whenever I can. Her covers cost more but I feel are a much better quality overall and her embroidery is really nice too! I recently got covers for my OG Xbox, PS2 Phat, and my 130xe from her in fact. I guess I should have posted a pic since she doesn't normally offer them in her ebay store. I had her make them for me special. But there are some covers that Only PrinterBoy has and so I do have those. My SNESjr, PS4Pro, PS3, Wii, an my Genesis model 1 +32x + SegaCD model 2 covers. Only printer boy had the odd combo cover for that Sega setup to the best of my knowledge.
  7. I've known about it for a while. Even installed an older 3.3 revision of this about 2 years ago into a JPN AES that was sent to me for repair. The 4.0 was available but wasn't publicly released at the time and Razoola wasn't taking orders for the 4.0 at that time either. Since I didn't know when the 4.0 was going to actually be available to the public, I had to resort to 3.3 and send it back to the client that way. However, I think the only real difference between that older 3.3 an the 4.0 is additional cheats for more games built into it. And all of these allow you to essentially create your own codes if you know them to enter in manually as well as I recall. But yes, if you want to collect for the Neo, then going with JPN hardware an games is usually the way to go and yes, most if nearly all of the games have English language on them that comes up automatically if the region is set to match.
  8. I like Bose stuff. I've got a set of their Companion II speaker setup on my personal PC at home, I use a Soundlink II mini at my desk for listening to music and I have a set of their earbuds that sound really nice that I actually purchased from one of their outlet stores outside of Denver or Colorado Springs back in 2016 when vacationing through there. I've not been keeping up with black friday stuff but I believe Newegg is already starting their sales currently. Yeap...they are and this one is a pretty nice deal in my opinion: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0W3-000R-004D1&cm_sp=BlackNovember-_-1101-1107-_-0W3-000R-004D1-_-NA
  9. I went through a few of these as a kid. Never was very good a flying them though...
  10. That's a case for an R-pi dedicated for 2600 emulation right? I'm trying to think of something to add to this thread but I wouldn't say they are that inexpensive when you have to source all the pieces but I've got these along with a few others in my collection: https://chrismcveigh.com/lego_kit_guides_2015/mini_console_pixel.pdf And the larger slightly more detailed version: https://chrismcveigh.com/lego_kit_guides_2017/my_first_console_pixel_v2.pdf
  11. Hoping this might spur some action on Albert's part at AA, I've gone ahead and released ITC# 78 this morning on the process to installing the new BIOS upgrade for the 7800. This one in the video specifically is for the new BIOS developed by Mike Saarna and Bob DeCrescenzo. However, it is the same process for any custom or modified BIOS that you might wish to use in your 7800. Here is quick list of some of the features of this new BIOS: - Allows for both NTSC and PAL 7800 games to be played (Note that many PAL games still won't play properly on NTSC 7800 consoles) - Improved homebrew compatibility on PAL 7800 consoles - New logo graphic startup screen (Can be bypassed by holding PAUSE while powering on the system) - Features 'Kiloparsec' a new built in game designed and programmed by Bob DeCrescenzo! Hopefully these will be available for sale in the very near future as I believe all of the parts required are done and approved and just need to be printed and packaged up.
  12. I also bought Suite Macabre for the CV but haven't even opened it yet. I ordered it along with Gooninuff and Death Race. Gorf was the only one I wasn't quite as interested in when they were offering them up at Collectorvision. My latest hauls are pretty cool though! For my birthday I received 2 toys and a set of digital calipers. The calipers have already been put to some work with me designing up some new PCBs to help me and I guess others with DIY work in the future. The toys are in fact 2 Transformers! Hehe. I don't normally collect Transformers, but like a lot of kids in the 80s I certainly owned quite a few of the G1 series of 'bots. Anyway, these two were just too cool to not own and my incredible wife tracked them down and here we are! Pen is shown to provide scale.
  13. When did you get your copy? Only asking as there have been like 3 updates to this game since I bought it with each update correcting game breaking glitches. So I've not played it too much more since I made that video. I think my cart came in a clear case and not blue colored.
  14. Not on the 5200 but a game inspired by Parsec will eventually be available on the 7800 with a new BIOS upgrade. That upgrades BIOS includes a new built in game called Kiloparsec on it.
  15. Far as I know the Wife and I have the same plan as always. Turn off all the outside lights and interior lights and hide in the back bedroom to watch movies.
  16. Something I just remembered and didn't mention in this pic is two things: It is a rare pic that shows when my ear was pierced. That tells me I was about 9 in this pic as that is when I got my ear pierced. The second thing I know about this picture, is that you can see there is what looks to be a mirror behind my right shoulder. That is actually where a window used to be as that house had a large Den added to the back of it and that was now an opening between the kitching and the Den. In that den just in the corner of where that opening is on the other side of the wall, is where my Grandma's Ti-99 computer setup sat.
  17. I'm not 100% on this, but when you see the Asterisk at the beginning along with those stamped numbers, I'm pretty sure that means the VCS fix was done during the production of the console by Atari. If it had been modified with the 'fix' after production, then the Asterisk is usually stamped at the end of the SN by itself as it was then done by an authorized Atari service center. So yeah, I would say that is a later made 4 port where Atari applied the VCS fix themselves before putting it out on the shelf to be sold. Very cool! You have VCS adapter or plan to actually use one?
  18. I was very late to the 5200 party myself. I didn't get my first 5200 until the early to mid 2000s. I only knew one kid growing up that had a 5200 and he was several years older than the rest of us and honestly a real jerk. So yeah, didn't know him well and didn't care to. So my first experience with the 5200 and 8-bit systems in general wasn't until emulation when I found out just how awesome Star Raiders and Rescue on Fractalus were. I can't recall the emulator at the time but it was likely Atari800win or something along those lines. Anyway, found a 5200 at the local flea market one weekend for like $20 that had 2 controllers, PSU, and the switchbox. The switchbox didn't work and I was able to repair it when I found a blown transistor inside it. (Likely caused from plugging it in while already powered or using the wrong PSU on the box). Then of course I had to fix the controllers and that is when I came up with using some left over bits of a sticker sheet my kids had. It was foil stickers and I checked and found the foil was conductive and... here we are today. I believe I'm still using both of those controllers to this day although I did have to replace out the 5200 about 5 or 6 years later when that original one just up and died for no reason. That original board has since gone on to provide parts to keep other Atari and retro systems alive. The 5200 is my second favorite Atari console next to the 7800.
  19. I replied in your AA thread on this as well. That appears to be a later made 4-port that hovers just between the Atari Inc and Atari Corp timeframe. Many of the Atari Corp made 4-port units I've seen have a newer revision of the 4-port board that has a standard power port on it and works just like the 2-port does without the need for the special switchbox. My guess is that you have one that was made at the tail end of the Atari Inc era or right at the beginning of the Atari Corp era when they putting together whatever they had on hand. Also interesting to see the plastic on your silver strip on the console is clear? I have a mint 5200 4-port in the box that has the piano finish plastic on it and the plastic protection over the strip is pink like it is on your controller. It being a later made 4-port would also explain why it has the VCS adapter fix built into it. I assume it has an " * " on the serial number label on the bottom? BTW the power supply with the shrink wrap I would likely trust more than the non shrinked one. Why? Because that cord obviously frayed and had to be repaired. The shrink if done properly, would isolate the repair properly to prevent shorts and would provide additional strength to that end of the plug to prevent fraying in the future. BTW the 5200 PSUs have a slow blow fuse in them so in most cases, a short in the system or the power in general will cause the fuse to go and it can be replaced out. Not always easily though as some of the newer PSUs were sonically welded while earlier 5200 PSUs (Those that came with 4 port units) have screws to open them up.
  20. I wonder if that is something we will start to see no longer? Shielded speakers? Today's modern LCD and OLED based display tech isn't affected by this. Similar to how I see people not using magnets within their computer cases to attach their RGB light strips and controller boxes because HDD are mostly flash based SSDs these days? That would present a whole new issue in the future when you have an old CRT display and want to use it but the only speakers you can find are non-shielded? In fact it is one of the reasons I don't have a CRT in my game room now is because my Roland passives I use for my front channel speakers, are from the 90s and not magnetically shielded. Guess everyone needs to start stocking up on mag shielded speakers?! I also own a degaussing coil for use with my arcade cabs because just how they are sitting and aligned can cause natural magnetic distortion on their screens. Cocktail cabinet versions are some of the worst about this.
  21. That is what I replaced mine out with. Although they don't put the SD logo on there anymore or at least mine didn't come with that decal on it. I chose the same button colors also. I also picked up a replacement case for my 8-bit Uno cart from there at the same time.
  22. I do have one Intellivision controller with a stickler on it that replaces the original disc and it is nice to use. I actually added ball tops to my CV controllers and that has made them much better to use. The side buttons haven't really bothered me too much but I could see how people wouldn't care for that.
  23. Well it would be possible to simply bypass the flip flop IC and just have the console be in an always powered on state. But would have to replace the current switch in the console with an actual actuated on/off switch and not the momentary type it uses now. I'm sure it would be possible.
  24. I will have to see if I can watch this all the way through at a later time. But just 2 min in, there is a certainly level of brilliance about this you gotta say?!
  25. Sometime back I remember that the AMax cart PCB had a spot for a reset switch on it? But I think I was drinking my bathwater. I think the issue is that there ins't a way to reset the console in a manner to cold boot it that is needed to reload back to a menu on the AMax from within the console. Many of my flash carts for my 130xe still require me to power cycle the 130xe as well to get back to my menus. Although now that I know about the "bye" command from the basic prompt, it has helped with a little less stress on the power switch. But you know now that I think about it, all of my flash carts require me to get up and push something or hit reset to get back to a main menu so I guess it is just how it is? We had to do the same with original carts after all?
