So sad to see this. I had no idea she was 75. I thought she was a bit younger, a contemporary of Ron Howard.

  6. Show recommendation - GANGS OF LONDON - IF you guys can "obtain" the first episode of this somewhere do it. A LOT of action, after the big bar fight scene I was surprised to see pretty much Daredevil type fighting action which is proven even further in a later scene fighting a huge thug with a Machete, this series is going to be crazy. Each episode between 53-93 minutes. This series is as one person described, utter carnage.

  7. Since it’s Sunday and I am doing laundry I thus decree that today shall be known henceforth as laundry/8 bit Nintendo day! 😝😎🧐

Hi @MaximumRD, it's funny you say that!! Sunday is typically laundry / 8-bit Nintendo day for me as well. Laundry can be too quiet for me, almost like meditation or swimming under water. I decided doing laundry would be a nice time to listen to some good podcasts. I clearly remember one Sunday in 2009 you recommended that I check out the Retroist Podcast, that I would enjoy it. This was around the time that I had the YouTube videos, usually with an 8-Bit Nintendo game over my shoulder on the TV set behind me. I started listening to The Retroist regularly, and Sunday turned into a "treat" I would look forward to. After a while, that became a big inspiration for me to create Atari I/O and the Forums.

Yes, that's pretty bad. A couple of years ago (I think) when we had the smoke and soot from the BC fires make their way to Puget Sound, it looked like straight out of the apocalypse. I thought it was snowing in the summer, and it was ash.

  10. Some sushi, a beer and then a nice long nap. Oddly, five days after my Pfizer vaccination I think I felt a few affects today, in the span of about 10 to 15 minutes I had dizziness / lightheaded, hot flash, instant poop, not diarrhoea thank goodness but let’s just say it all came out rapidly (fear not I was already on the toilet) dry heaves but I didn’t  throw up thankfully, tingly feeling in my hands and forearm, and afterwords all my symptoms seem to subside as quickly as they had hit me. Physically now Feel perfectly fine, we had to run around and do a few errands I just feel, you know, out of sorts, like not fully focused, that floaty feeling, like that out of body type experience where you feel like you’re seeing through the eyes of somebody else but otherwise fine. No more nausea no more sweats, so yeah I will finish this and just have a nice long nap and then I’m sure once I wake up and I will feel my old self again.

I have another friend who had the same thing happened.  Quick flash of symptoms about 5 days after the shot.

I hope you feel 100% quickly.  I say it's worth it.  For me, it was about the same as the Shingles vaccine.  Just a day of feeling slightly flu-ish.

First shot 5 days ago - UPDATE : Well after this I slept for like 12 hours, got up a couple times to pee, considered getting up half way but thought well, I will just lay down again and see what happens and yeah seems I needed more 😆so roughly 12 hours sleep but I think I am back to my usual self now, no more brain fog or out of sorts, just needed proper rest to recover. Hope it's over at least until the next Pfizer follow up shot, 🙂

  11. Sorry for the downer, I don't post these like I use to but this one is pretty big imho. RIP Michael Lee Aday aka Meat Loaf. Sad, I am not too surprised though as seeing him in a recent interview he was not looking good. He pushed himself a lot. He will be remembered through his music.

Thank you, I tend to not see anything I do as special but I do appreciate the compliments. I used to draw comics in school and high school of me and my friends, over the years through various hardships and mental issues I just abandoned it but having recently been gifted the Apple Pencil / iPad min 5 by my wife I been having fun rediscovering my creative side, I probably knocked this out in about 10 or 12 minutes or so and yes it was just off the top of my head thinking I would just draw Spidey. Though I am not too familiar with the various modern drawing tools and apps, back in my teen and young adult years I played around with Deluxe Paint and Brilliance on the AMIGA I had back then, art , animation and even basic titling for my home videos I outputted to composite to my VCR. Good times.

I once even drew a image of the Danny Devito Penguin from BATMAN RETURNS with nothing but Deluxe Paint and a standard tank style ball mouse, took me forever but I was quite proud how it came out but sadly lost over the years, but I figured if I managed THAT with such basic tools surely an iPad with Pencil would allow more creative freedom though there is something to be said with creating something identifiable and creative with lesser tools for sure.

Anyway, I AM having fun at least trying to be creative again, I will add anything else I do here for sure, I think it is a good outlet mentally as well, thanks for noticing. I think I WILL get better, I been using a basic tool in one of the apps that I enjoy as these images are never exactly as I picture them, this tool basically if you can imagine creating lines and when they connect the fill in making a solid line, I KNOW REAL ARTIST and digital experts would explain this better, I might do a short demo video at some point, anyway when the lines / shapes I make fill they create the outlines of the image I am trying to create, though I never know exactly the result I been quite impressed and happy with how they turn out, having multiple points of "UNDO" is truly amazing as well. I am also using only free or limited apps to do these, I am thinking though soon I will move on to the apps and tools that truly mimic the pencil to paper experience, with multiple levels of pressure sensitivity and even tilt control with the edge of the pencil for fine shading I have been so impressed with how close it is to the real thing. I really am having fun learning these tools, again I probably should have explored digital art more than a decade ago but I just did not really have the means. I guess it's really never too late though. I will get better.

  19. Tues night on the old 2011 Macbbok now running ZorinOS currently, I love PopOS! the most on it so far but I just cannot stop tinkering and Zorin is working great so far. It's by no means a daily driver so I don't mind testing different Distros on the hardware.

I like it fine so far for the couple hours I've tinkered. Interestingly there are "paid" options, obviously I am not using that. Paid gives you things like more customization options and themes etc. As is though there is enough to set it to look like typical Linux or more Windows or more Mac like depending what one is use to so that is nice. Placement of start, menus, app display to mimic those other Operating systems. Normal Linux storefront to download more software for free from the Linux repositories.

I will likely keep it on for some time, cannot say I like as much or better than PopOS! (that would be surprising) but I tend to keep it on for a while and use over time, it's like a third machine after my main PC and desktop so I don't spend much time with it in the grand scheme of things.

Here you can see a quick video with a nice visual tour of what to expect in the latest core edition (what I have installed)

Now this one is slightly older but longer and descriptive, I watch this guy for Linux content. Worth the watch imho.

Do you feel like any of these these are an improvement on Ubuntu? Or Mac or Windows?

    4. MaximumRD

      MaximumRD

Improvements? For the things I do Linux Mint, Zorin, Ubuntu are all pretty much the same with difference really only being in presentation or style, I just don't dig deep enough. At heart I will always be a Windows guy through and through as it is what I use the most on a daily basis for years, the rest really is just tinkering. My exposure to MacOS is only what came with this 2011 Macbook, I think I upgraded it as far as I could, if I recall it came with  OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and I managed to "upgrade" it as far as macOS 10.13 High Sierra after much tinkering 😆

I considered shoe horning macOS Mojave onto it which can be done but it sounded very involved and really would have sacrificed some features on a hardware level and also introduced some glitchy results at best so I stuck with High Sierra for some months getting to know it well enough to understand all the "basics" at least for general use, though I cannot say I really "liked" it more than Windows I just always have a need to understand an OS, never would I have thought I'd be editing Kext files but I even did a bit of that lol. So all this is just to say I don't really consider anything "better" I just know what I like and am more familiar with, there was a time years ago I recommended to a basic user that I thought ANDORID was "better" than IOS, I believed it at the time but the person got an Android and hated it, was totally lost and all of their friends / family were of course on APPLE devices so my recommendation was not a service to them, I cannot think like that, only what would be best for the person and not from my point of view.

Today of course after much exposure I'd take an iPAD over an ANDROID without thought 😜though I really still want a good ANDORID tablet. So to me it's up to the individual to just try and see what they like best, listen to people smarter than I comparing Linux / Windows etc, someone who uses each as a daily driver in some form because I am bias in that I will always go back to what I am more familiar and comfy with every time which for me is WINDOWS, all the other platforms for me are just tinkering. Sorry, I cannot answer better or just give you a simple straight forward answer to your  simple question. That's just me and the way my brain works. I turned to Linux Distros on the Macbook because I could not take MacOS any further on it and so my thinking was the best way to get a modern and supported OS on it was to switch to LINUX, first I tried was Linux Mint If I recall and really in that respect I could have left it at that but my mind is easily swayed by fancy new distros and features, I probably tried like 5 different Linux distros, some worked, some were dead in the water. seeing that System76 own Linux machines came with their PopOS I of course had to give that a go and honestly, was very happy for the last several months, it just worked straight away, all features and function keys etc. But I just get bored and never settle so decided to take a chance and try ZorinOS.

No doubt another Distro will catch my eye in 3 months or 6 or a year from now. I WILL SAY THOUGH outside of basic use and functions which many might be happy with ANY Linux distro, even ones designed to ease the transition from Mac / Windows, there is always a learning curve or a moment when you have to get your hands dirty in Terminal or other areas that are not as intuitive as Windows or Mac. I've managed to muddle my way through thanks to people smarter than I who post the directions online, at least I AM good at Googling and following directions. 🤷‍♂️
