I've seen a lot of great Kickstarters and this is the first one that pushed me to back it, so there's that! Best of luck! Still have some time...

    Hi Lost Dragon,
where do you fly today? ;-)

I am afraid you cannot help me if you do not support the project on Kickstarter. The successful funding is the only way the book will come to live. Btw Kickstarter does not allow payment through Paypal, you need a credit-card instead.

If you don't have a credit card, you can ask a friend and make the deal with him. ;-)
It won't make any sense to give me money, because I myself have to ask another friend of mine to take it then... that turns out to be complicated and you need a lot of trust to do that. I won't do it, by the way.

If it fails, I will restart the project on a lower level, but I don't want to go into detail here. I must see the sum at the end, that's what count to estimate what can be done to realize this dream-project of mine.

Retro-Regards and thanks for your openness,
    Marco

Still think this would have been an incredible addition to the Jaguar's library of games.

    Hi guys,

this is Marco Breddin, the writer of the Atari ST Anthology. Last 5 days of the campaign. I have overworked the page and added a new bundle called "The Undead Factory-Book-Bundle". It contains a huge Demoscene Poster with hundreds of Logo art (160*90cm) designed by a french graphic designer, who has also a scene past.

I vaguely remember something about Sony paying $11 million dollars or somewhere around there to have it released on the Playstation first. It was kind of funny because they pushed for such a fast release that it was bugged with the final character. Not sure what they did to resolve that fiasco. Atari was a small fish and you had sharks like Sony and Nintendo out pushing and swooping up things like Phear and MK3.

More of these popular titles on Jaguar, if done right, would have really positioned the Jaguar as a more serious threat to SNES and Genesis

Clint Thompson got a reaction from Lost Dragon in Atari 5200 Console Overview
I owned a 5200. Actually, I ended up owning about 6 of them in total because some local couple that ran a flea market booth had a bunch of them and a ton of other Atari items for sale for dirt cheap. I only assumed something to be wrong with the units at $4 each but decided to get them anyways. Such huge beasties with not a single controller to be found for them locally and the ones that eventually did pop up years later simply did not work. Plus, the sellers always wanted $20-$25 for one controller because they were so rare and the same applied, something was always wrong with the controllers.

Meanwhile, I also picked up the almost as big as the 5200 trakball controller and played the living daylights out of Super Breakout. I loved the styling of the console and the games and continued to slowly collect games over the years until I finally made the mistake of landing a pair of actual, working controllers.

By this time, I had quite a large and well rounded Atari collection which consisted of multiple Atari 800 and XL computers, 7800, etc. and learned that the 5200 was basically a repackaged 800. The controllers destroyed any hope of keeping the system around as a real console for me when I could just play most of the games I had slowly collected on the 8-bit computers anyway. So it didn't make sense to keep this huge console around, let alone six, to play identical games with inferior controls. I ridded everything I had very shortly after and even to this day with little regret, with the exception of keeping a trakball and Super Breakout, best version I've played and it was a ton of fun!

If Atari had packaged the 5200 in the smaller size that of the Atari 2700 and included the well known joysticks with it, having the option to upgrade to analog controllers for specific games later, then the machine may have done well. Maybe not, I don't know.... but I do know I would have certainly kept one had that been the case.

As cool as the system was or had hoped to be, I doubt I would ever go out of my way to own one again unless I just so happen to run across a cheap unit with trakball and super breakout. I was always fond of the Atari logo, copyright year and name of the game on bootup though.

Wow, great channel! Love to see these dedicated console channels. Plus, your production value is really high, and you create a nice, easy-going tone for these videos. Quality stuff all-around. Subbed. Looking forward to more.

Sure we know of Jack Black and Phil Hartman in Atari commercials.

It was not long ago I noticed it was Jane Krakowski in THIS commercial for Solar Fox. She has had quite a Stage / Television / Movie career. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Krakowski

Heh always thought she was a cutie. Sadly, she IS going the Hollywood way in that she is afraid to grow old gracefully (she is 47 now) but I remember her from way back in this 2600 commercial.

They've added a 35 EUR option without the goodies so it's a little less expensive. I really hope this thing gets funded with only 20 days to go, it still needs a whopping $30,000. I really want this book! Hopefully there will be an alternative option if it doesn't fund though it really deserves to be!

I found this Vizio 13" analog LCD TV for $11.  I figure these things are going to get harder and harder to find, and they are perfect for playing old consoles.  Very light and easy to move around, and nice picture quality.

Thanks for that, I have no control over the content, this is completely down to Marco the author, the minimalism is purely a design of light on the eyes imagery accompanied with informative text, I myself am a whore for over doing it on the visuals with my stuff, but this is been done by a German designer, so I suspect they love things to be tight and clean, so I suspect it will be like this thought out the book, which is accessionally a bad thing, it should fit the flow of the book very well.

As regards the Irish Atari scene, hmm..I mainly remember it to be a great period of discovery of software, friendship and computer enlightenment, these were times which I'm sure many here can relate that had all of us in a specialist subject with very little people knowing what it was all about. There was a great Atari Club scene, from which all walks of life attended, those elite to the walk in of the street, nobody held any bias or meanness towards the skill sets. But for me to talk about my time with Atari would take a lot of back tripping and pulling stories together to give it in full, but I can say this I left the Atari 8-bit with over 2,000 programs lol and was at ground zero when Happy Drives and U.S.Doublers arrived, so I've lived the Atari dream lol. But thank you for your interest, I'll do it one day.

Many thanks pal for the mention, I'm only playing a very small part in this, just done a few book page renders for it and gave or tried to give some sound advice to Marco for it, I will say this, it's one of those books that doesn't come along to often, sure we all have the ones with 2 page spreads of screenshots, but this is so much more, the design and flair of it and better still the book binding is going to be second to none, it's like Thalion themselves finesse this, is how good Marco and the team have presented it, it's going to be very unquie"

So if your deciding to treat yourself to something really special and you love the ST, then this is highly recommended, you won't be sorry, from what I've seen, it's something ST spectacular!!

Thanks for the support so far, it's truly appreciated folks.
