  1. I just discovered the thread here. Someone asked why they can't voting for Carrot Kingdom™, and the answer was "There was no public binary release." or something like that, which at the time there was. You just had to download from the Carrot Kingdom™ site, not from the other forum. 😛 That was kinda uncool IMO, along with the very limited list of games that do not including the rest of us. Like Peter said, no Songbird, Video61, etc. I don't keep up with the whole scene, but IMO the Venture port for 7800 that Peter and Lance did should have been way up the list! Either way, I appreciate the hard work of everyone, and love checking out what I can from everyone. 💖
  2. Oh man, thanks! I lost my Death Star owners manual years ago, and I've been wanting to address the two meter wide thermal exhaust port. The manual will definitely help me figure out how to fortify that. If not, I have a feeling it'll bite me down the road. 😄
  3. Tomorrow Wrestlemania 40!

  4. IMO, that seems to be the case for most ST ports. 😂
  5. Great collection! I wanted the original GP32 (the first machine Game Park released.) I was doing GBA development at the time, and it was attractive because it was also ARM. It was pricey though, so I never ended up getting one. 😛
  6. The one for the ST is pretty nice, but could use some tweaks.
  7. Sub, that reminds me, I used to love Silent Service when I was younger.
  8. Some of my favorites from retail: XE Mario Bros. Pole Position Boulder Dash Bruce Lee International Karate The Eidolon Bop'n Wrestle
  9. Another great read Lance. 🙂 I want to pull my hair out along with you, over those lost Mario Bros. XEs and the 400s. A shame so much good hardware thrown away over Jack's pigheadedness. 🤬 More XE Eproms is great too! A shame the one is not reading, but looking forward to your next EPROM post. :D
  10. 100% agree on a new ST, but I don't want a mini. Some kind of new Falcon running an FPGA core or one of the Coldfire CPUs would be amazing. TOS can run on anything with a 68000 and a framebuffer, so it would not be hard to do a new ST of some kind. 😛 As for 5200 or A8. I think some hybrid 5200 system with 128K RAM would be good. SD slot, and ability to use regular Atari joysticks and new analogue 5200 joysticks would be great.
  11. Very cool! 😄 Reminds me of the Calendar on the Tiger Game.Com I think it was similarly calculated to save SRAM. I used to use that and the address book, and the PDA functions. Would have been neat to have a PDA for the Lynx. A little SRAM cart to save your address book, notes, etc. maybe a real time clock too. 😉
  12. Coolness. 😄 I never had the Lynx, but I remember seeing it in a Boy's Life Magazine, and thought it was really neat looking. Leagues ahead of the Game Gear and Gameboy. I wanted a Game Gear for Sonic, I was Sonic crazy. I did not get any handheld machine until 1996 besides the LCD Calculator types. 😅 A shame Jack's usual antics screwed over Epyx, and ultimately the Lynx. The hardware is very great. Funny enough the commercial with the boy playing the Lynx in school. I would play my Gameboy in the back of Science class in 1997. 😛 Never in the bathroom though. That was a place where you did not want to hang around too long. 😄
  13. Just saw in the Portfolio FB group. https://www.apfram.com/
  14. Agreed Solaris is killer! Blew me away back in the day.
  15. Definitely, I got in late, cuz I dragged my feet, but still glad I have one.
  16. Awesome. 🙂 Darryl was keeping me updated on his development of Block'em Sock'em . 🙂 Definitely he put a lot of cool extra polish into it. I'd love a copy too.
  17. Good good! Games should be freely available to anyone. 🙂 I hate when people do the physical run and then sit on the ROM. 😠 Speaking of which, anyone reading this thread go download Carrot Kingdom, if you haven't already. 😄
  18. Great stuff Lance! 🙂 Would be interesting to see what comes of those EPROMs. 🙂 Wonder why the Touchdown Football is labeled so late if it's NTSC. Maybe someone actually made it more fun? 😛 Sending the defective carts to South America is bleh, not something I agree with, but in the Tramiel mindset, it keeps from having to destroy them, and how can you get bad press for a bugged game pre-internet if it's all the way down in South America, I'm sure that crossed their minds. The monitor EPROM maybe is a code debugger of some kind of burn in or test cart, who knows. 😛 Interesting stuff as usual. ❤️
  19. DJ Slopes has a great channel. This is a good retrospective, always interesting to hear the British view on the games back then. 😄 I would also recommend Peter Liepa's interview on the ANTIC podcast. https://ataripodcast.libsyn.com/antic-interview-66-peter-liepa-boulder-dash I was surprised when I heard he wrote it in FORTH. Not what I would have used, but it worked. 😅
  20. Very good ideas Lance! The solar charger is a good idea. Weird about the uneven battery discharge though. 🤔 I don't vape, but I have some rechargeable vape batteries I planned on doing something with years ago, those could be used in a series with a circuit to run a Lynx I think. They are 5v each so they would work nicely I think with a custom barrel connector to slide into the Lynx. Charging, could also be done with a crank charger. One of those could be built with junk drawer stuff. Geared DC motor, voltage regulator, capacitors, etc. During Hurricane Floyd in 2003 I think it was, I had my Sega Genesis Nomad and its battery pack. That lasted me well enough to play Sonic 3 for a while. 😄
  21. Atari Game Tools is an easy setup library to make ST games in C by Doug Little. Includes tools to convert graphics, and stuff too. 🙂 https://bitbucket.org/d_m_l/agtools/wiki/Home
  22. I played one at someone's house when I was little. All the adults were talking and the people who's house it was, just said, "Here play with this." Now I was used to my NES and Super Mario Bros, or my Atari VCS and Pole Position, but I remember finding enough enjoyment in this to make it to the end of the evening. 😛
  23. Great Price, and great unit. 🙂
  24. Looks like fun! 🙂 I think even scaling the playfield as he bounces up and down MODE 7 style would really make it feel less, I don't wanna say disorienting, but more pleasing to the eye/natural.
  25. Very good looking Joust! 🙂
