I did it! 32,804.

I also noticed something about Centipede I never noticed before.  On the title screen the skill level makes the Centipede change speed.  I never noticed that before.

Simply not possible as we have dealt with many such people over time and will continue to enforce the rules of conduct here. A lot goes on here behind the scenes believe me. Anyone exhibiting any type of "gatekeeper" behaviour here is quick to realize it is not tolerated and this is not the community to try it. END OF. We welcome all equally but are very strict about extinguishing any cross-forum drama if someone has a bad history elsewhere that is known, we are wary of such people and do monitor them perhaps a little closer 😉 but in the end, all will be judged by their own merits, all are expected to conduct themselves according to HOUSE RULES (see link below) so, anyone who hasn't yet would do well to familiarize themselves with them, I do not think it's particularly difficult to be a productive contributing and positive member here, by the same token we will not become the "Island of Misfit toys" of forums either.

It makes perfect sense, it is why we knew there was a place for another Atari (and other classic gaming platforms ) site, I can assure you all of us staff and everyone here are very protective of this community and feel the exact same way. 👍The more people feel welcomed here and are comfortable to share and discuss all things retro the more we like it. We do try to keep it light and fun and never at the expense of others, we want this to be an escape from the drama and outside turmoil as much as possible.

Objective
Play for the highest possible score using the difficulty settings defined in the challenge. Post a photo or YouTube video of your score in this thread. Scores must be achieved between September 1st through September 30, 2023.  Screen captures are not allowed as they are more easily manipulated for falsified scores. Multiple submissions are permitted. The player with the highest score at the end of the competition is the victor!
 
Eligibility
This is a Club VCS Exclusive Challenge. All Club VCS players are welcome!
 
Play Rules
Games may be played on real Atari VCS hardware. Choosing which controller to play on is part of formulating your strategy. Enhancements, rewinds and hacked versions of this game are not allowed.
 
Difficulty Level
We are playing Centipede: Recharged in the "Recharged Mode". You have a single life to move, shoot, and score as high as possible!
 
Fair Play
Your integrity is everything. Players should play fairly, be honest, and have fun! Falsified scores will result in your immediate removal from the site. It goes without saying that we will not allow cheats, hacks, cartridge frying, enhancements, rewinds, deceitful photo manipulation, subterfuge, or any other unfair advantage. Everybody hates a cheater.

Welcome to our nineteenth Club VCS Recharged Squad Challenge!!! For this challenge we're playing Centipede: Recharged! Released in September 2021, Centipede: Recharged is a re-imagining of the beloved Atari arcade game and set the tone for the rest of the series.  We're celebrating the second anniversary of Centipede: Recharged with this challenge! 
Blast bugs and chase high scores in this glorious revival of an old-school classic.  A dozen new power-ups can give you an edge by introducing abilities like screen-clearing explosions, rail guns, and even slowing down time.
 
Club VCS Recharged Squad Contest
This game is the third title in our fourth Club VCS contest giveaway! Prize details will be announced shortly. 
1)  All challenge participants will receive one (1) entry for each challenge in which they submit a valid score!
2) The top scorer of each challenge will receive two (2) additional entries - for a total of three (3) entries in a single challenge!
3) On Twitch or Youtube?  Stream or record and post your ClubVCS high score attempt for one (1) additional entry in each round.  You must post a public link to the video in the Challenge.
BUT ARE THERE BUTTONS? 
Yes! We've made another set of ClubVCS buttons to celebrate the games in this series. There will be two ways to get a button set.
1) Win a challenge.
2) Post a valid score to all challenges in the 6 game series.
Only one button set will be mailed per member during the series.
This contest is open to everybody, including Atari I/O Moderators, with a U.S. or Canada  mailing address. It's really easy, all you have to do is participate be a Club VCS member and participate in our Recharged Squad Challenges.

My first time ever playing 7800 Centipede. The joystick control actually felt pretty good. I downloaded the Centipede trak-ball rom a while ago but haven't gotten around to using my Dragonfly yet.

Love these double features!

Hi! Sorry I've been busy (the show will be postponed again, but so it goes), but I'm pretty sure I posted 44,670. I know it's not even close to 1st (Way to go, @socrates63!), but I believe it would put me on the podium.
