DegasElite reacted to socrates63 in Video Game "Performers" go on strike.
My take on the article? The workers want to protect their financial and intellectual interests as performers. I agree that their work is performance and not data. Their position seems very reasonable.

DegasElite reacted to MistaMaddog in Video Game "Performers" go on strike.
By "performers", they mean people who do all the motion capture stuff which makes them the same as stunt actors for movies. And these are professionals BTW.
The voice actors already went on strike but they got screwed over by the SAG union who allow studios to "license" their voice samples to be used for AIs. So yeah they'll still get replaced but at least they'll get paid to be replaced... </s>
Editorial:
All these techbros who run the gaming (and tech) industry are so hellbent on replacing everyone with AI machines that they practically worship technology instead of trying to be human. And even if this unproven tech does happen to work like it should (it doesn't) what happens when this dystopia future does come to pass and there's massive unemployment while the 1%ers are the only ones making a living. We still don't have Universial Basic Income because people lose Public Assistance (formerly known as Welfare) when they do get even part-time employment.
So what then braniacs??
End Of Rant:

DegasElite reacted to TrekMD in BOULDER DASH 2 - FREE DEMO BINARY!!! 100 copies only
I've kept working on the manual. I'm liking how it is coming along. I'll have to post a link to it from Google Drive when it is ready.

This "Demo" is brilliant! I own the original and currently available versions and absolutely love them. However, the additions and refinements that Andrew's made via this demo, have taken what was already considered a technical marvel to another level. The Interleaved ChronoColour (ICC) display system looks beautiful on my Toshiba CRT, especially with the lights off. The ability to switch views and zoom or magnify the play area from Normal to Mid to Overview is amazing, considering that you can play the game via Normal or Mid zoom views. Please read the provided instruction manual, as the fire button performs several functions during gameplay, as well as, when you die. I feel the game controls very well and while I am not the best Boulder Dash player, I keep wanting to play "one more time" and that's always the sign of a good game.

DegasElite reacted to socrates63 in Remember when Atari users used to shell out big bucks for very little?
Very true -- that's the reason why I got into console gaming with the Xbox360 and PS3. I could buy a console for the price of a video card, and with consoles, I wouldn't have to worry about hardware upgrades for many years.

DegasElite reacted to CrossBow in Remember when Atari users used to shell out big bucks for very little?
Except for video cards...
I remember when I was buying PCs in the mid 90s and then building my own that the most expensive stuff used to be the CPU and the storage. Now the GPU for a good one is going to set you back half the cost for the entire build easily.

DegasElite reacted to tbs123456 in Building the ultimate PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16
What they should have done with the turbo in the US since the system is so big is have the turbotap built in and not only marketed it as Hi-Tech, but the first console built for 5 players out of the box and included Bomberman as the pack in.

It is hard to stop at one chip.

Such a great game. Doesn't show off any horse power of the lynx, but is so addictive! Wish there was a second one.

DegasElite reacted to sramirez2008 in What Happened to The Six Million Dollar Man?
@TrekMD Thanks. Saved for later. I used to watch the show and had the action figure and his Bionic Transport & Repair Station. It was one of the largest action figures and had a bit of heft to it, unlike my Mego action figures which were much smaller and very light.
One of my friends Steve Austin and the Bionic Bigfoot. Bigfoot was really cool and worth big $$$ today.

I just watched this video and thought I'd share it. I'm sure there are fans of this show here. I've had the opportunity to meet Lee Mayors a few years ago. Nice guy and he had quite a few stories to share when he was on stage.

DegasElite reacted to MaximumRD in Who is still rocking VCRs? 🤔
Was just doing some organizing and came across these, so thought only fair to add to my original post. 😝
As mentioned previously YES I had sold my collection to a local video store THAT SAID, funny enough I only have these left, for some reason, well honestly I very purposely kept HELLBOUND HELLRAISER II COLLECTORS EDITION because it's a great copy and badass. I cannot really explain the other two I still own 😝But anyway here is everything I have left, I DO still have a couple VCR's and a wicked little CRT should I ever want to re-visit for nostalgia.

When I moved to my retirement condo I filled up an entire 96 gallon rolling plastic bin of VHS tapes for the garbage man. I think I have one remaining VHS player in a box somewhere along with the gadget to transfer tapes to SD card. Everything I own, except for a few hundred DVD's in now evenly duplicated among 3 8TB hard drives. I simply have no room for all that stuff, and since I'm not getting any younger, I don't want to leave behind a mess for my beneficiaries.

Be that as it may, the programmer of the game called it Boulder Dash 2.

DegasElite reacted to Scott Stilphen in BOULDER DASH 2 - FREE DEMO BINARY!!! 100 copies only
The game really isn't Boulder Dash II, though. The original BD II has different levels. This new VCS version has the same levels as the original but with improved graphics.
