  1. I haven't seen too many sci-fi series, but this year, I've become a Trek fan, or dare I say, a Trekkie 🙂 Previously, I was a Star Wars fan all the way, but with the disappointment that was the Skywalker saga episodes 1-3 and 7-9, my eyes wandered. For 2021, I had set a goal of watching the original Star Trek series (I'm almost done), and I've been very impressed with the series vision and its stories. When I was a kid, I found Star Trek boring -- not enough phasers and battles and way too much talking. Now? I understand its popularity and have become a fan. I'm even brave enough to consider giving Star Trek The Motion Picture a second watch 🙂 I saw it in the theater as a kid and went in expecting something along the lines of Star Wars, and boy was I wrong. I'm sure it's a much better movie than my kid brain could appreciate.
  2. My most recent experience was not grabbing the in the box O2 for $20 at a garage sale a couple of months ago. I'm not into the Odyssey so while I was thinking about it, someone swooped in and snagged it. I probably should have grabbed it while thinking about since I could have put it back. Since I don't go thrifting or to garage sales, I don't have many stories of the ones that got away. I only went to this garage sale because it was run by a member of the local gaming group and was a five minute drive from my house.
  3. I picked up some DS and PSP games from a claim sale in the local FB gamers group. Both the PSP and DS have interesting titles that are still very affordable. I'm a late comer to the platforms, and it's been fun adding to the library.
  4. 🎶🎶🎶 I did my best But I guess my best wasn't good enough 'Cause here we are back where we were before... I only managed to tie my high score 😆
  5. @CrossBow awesome points regarding the PETSCII game. I hope those points have been shared with The 8-Bit Guy as well. Regarding Jason's multicart, it took three months for me to get confirmation and payment info from him after I messaged him that I wanted one. After payment, another three months went by before he messaged me to tell me that my cartridge was shipping by end of the week. So, unless his production schedule has improved, you may have to wait quite a while longer 🙃😂
  6. Quick game, you say? I've been trying since this challenge started and only managed 39k, and you nonchalantly play a quick game and blow past my score 🤣 😄 I suck 😂 I'm not much of a platform gamer. Great start @TrekMD 👍
  7. Geek in the kitchen! Creamy gochujang chicken pot pie? I love chicken pot pie and Marion's Kitchen recipes. When I watched the video, the pot pie filling looked good enough to eat on its own without the extra steps of making it into a pie. It's a simple recipe and with simple ingredients that I had all on hand. This'll be served on top of rice in about ten minutes.

It was tasty. I didn't think the sour cream based sauce would be good for my diet, so I only took a couple of bites... small bites 😄 Wife and kids liked it.

  8. @Atari 5200 Guy have you looked into alternative 5200 controllers? Check out this thread on two solutions that I use. The ikonsgr adapter is the cheaper solution which works very well. The new 5200 controller by Retrogameboyz is the more elegant solution but more money. I've also purchased OEM 5200 controllers rebuilt by Best Electronics. Granted, both of these solutions only work for games that do not require analog controls, but then again, most of the 5200 library works with digital stick controls. Only a few (don't remember off the top of my head) require analog controls and there's where the 5200 OEM controller comes in.
  9. While driving down to Portland to meet Rick last month, I made a slight detour to Vancouver, WA to drop off my Vectrex with another game in my local gaming group. He's going to spruce it up proper (no buzz mod) and give it the TLC it deserves. It's pretty clean looking for its age--not as much dust as I'd expected nor signs of leakage or corrosion. It's actually rather pretty 🌷🌷 looking for 40 year old electronics 😛 😄 I can only wish my innards look as good.

You know how you don't appreciate something you have until it's gone? I didn't play much when I had it, but now that it's been out of the house for a couple of weeks, I miss my Vectrex ❤😄 Remember to give some love to those consoles that you haven't touched in a while.

I need to get mine over to him...my power/volume switch needs some help.

  10. I got these (Super Fire Pro Wrestling, Gradius, Xevious) last week from a local gamer. He mostly sells JP imports, and they're usually cheap (under $10 for loose cartridges). I don't have a Famicom nor Super Famicom, but I just love the cartridges and box art. I now have 4 SFC (all in boxes) and 6 FC games in my collection. With a perm and make up, I think I could pull off that wrestler look this Halloween 😂
  11. call! I bought a new Atari 8-bit game for the first time since the 80s -- Attack of the PETSCII Robots by The 8-Bit Guy. How cool is that?!? It feels a little weird getting a new game in 2021 for a forty year old computer. My brain is spinning with memories of me visiting Toys R Us, Egghead, and Software Etc. shopping for games. The biggest reason I decided to buy this game was because of its association with the Commodore PET, the very first computer I used in school back in seventh grade (sixth graders weren't allowed to use it). The back of the box even has a photo of the PET Now I just need to set up my 800XL (how many times have I said this?) which I was planning to do this summer and now fall is almost here. Well, autumn is as good a time as any.
  12. No day 1 patches? 😂 I bought the fixed version from Good Deal Games.
  13. Dark Cavern Atari 2600 Difficulty: Default, B/B High Score: 290,000 September 2, 2021
  14. 33,000 getting better but I get so nervous when playing 😆
  15. I just returned from attending PAX West. I picked up a couple of things--a big D20 and the Grandia remaster for the Switch. I also recently got Impossible Mission complete in box for the 7800. I already had the loose cartridge and was happy to find a cheap (relatively speaking) boxed copy on ebay.
  16. @Marco1019 and @AtariSphinx killin' it! Great start!
  17. 6,300 This one's going to take a bit of practice. I think my biggest challenge is the d-pad. I'm just not very good with the d-pad. I may need to pick up that 8bitdo arcade stick. BTW, I'm playing on a RetroPi.
  18. I was thinking that it was Princess Peach as well. Let's just say the the Princess has a really strong brand going on!
  19. Wow, after forty years, I learned that The Girl has a name 😮 Color me stupid. Thanks for posting the manual @Justin. According to Wikipedia, the character started her life with the name Lady and later changed to Pauline.
  20. Asteroids Atari 2600 Difficulty: Game 8, A/A High Score: 46,850 August 27, 2021
  21. Woohoo 🎉 Well done, everyone! I didn't think my score would hold up, and @Marco1019 came oh so close. Asteroids was a lot of fun, and I really liked game 8️⃣A. But even better than 🥇🏆 is the fact that I've learned to really appreciate a 2600 gaming classic. I always heard everyone rave about 2600 Asteroids over the years, but it was never a favorite of mine as a kid (disappointment with the controller experience and seeing colorful space rocks), and it stayed that way until this squad challenge. Asteroids now is the third game that I didn't like as a kid but really loved and embraced during my re-connect with the 2600 as an adult.
  22. 40 points! Oh man, I feel for you Marco 😄😆👍👏. I don't think I ever broke 45k again after my last posted score.
  23. Yes @HDN the arcade version of Asteroids Deluxe had the shield. Going back to the poll, while I voted for shield because it makes playing the game easier, I'm good with hyperspace since it's faithful to the original game. One thing I like about hyperspace in the 2600 Asteroids is that you don't randomly die just for deploying it. In the arcade version, you'd randomly die when you jumped out of hyperspace even if the space you appeared in was clear of asteroids. That was extremely annoying.
  24. @TrekMDvery nice! I need to play more Intellivision ❤️ It's great to see Evercade get more game collections and the prices are fantastic. I don't have one but it's cool to see the positive reception it has garnered.
