  1. 6,015 Fun game and very easy to pick up! The game ended with me trying to land on the target in level 3. I bought DD and Tyre Trax at PRGE when they were initially released IIRC. I hadn't played them until now on the VCS.
  2. I love the idea, but with the Analogue Pocket out there, I would think the Lynx+ would have to be much cheaper in order to compete, or have something like Jaguar compatibility as Justin suggested. The Evercade would have been another viable way to play but I believe the Lynx collection will soon no longer be made. As for me, while I do have an upgraded Lynx II, I will probably do my Lynx gaming on the Analogue Pocket once the cartridge adapter arrives later this year.
  3. I remember seeing the original Lynx model and the Game Gear back in the day. I had a Game Boy, and I preferred the GB over the Lynx and GG mainly because of the smaller physical size and portability and battery life of the GB compared to the competition. I was never bothered by the b/w nature of the GB. Couple of years ago(?) I bought a Lynx model 2 with the upgraded screen. I bought it to take part in the I/O high score challenge, but I don’t think I was able. I currently have a small collection of two dozen games. Most are official releases, and I have 3 or 4 homebrews. I also have the Game Drive. A month or so ago, my Analogue Pocket finally arrived. I also ordered the Lynx cartridge adapter, and that should arrive soon. I think I will end up playing Lynx games on the Pocket given the smaller size of the handheld. I’ve always been enamored with the idea of handheld gaming and have bought several devices over the years. However, I never spent much time with any of them (PSP, Vita, GB, GBC, GBA, DS, 3DS, Lynx). The Steam Deck is probably the handheld that I’ve spent the most time playing.
  4. @DegasElite I just loaded the ROMs on the SD card, and R-Type is working without any fiddling. I am using the Mega Everdrive X5 on my Genesis. The only trouble I had was not being able to get my 8bitdo M30 controller to work with the game. I swapped it out for my Arcade Power Stick, and that is working fine. Posting my first ever SMS game play with a mediocre 31,000 😂 Gotta start somewhere
  5. Alright! This is going to be my first SMS game. I believe I read that I can play SMS ROMs using the Everdrive for the Genesis.
  6. Congrats @Marco1019 and to the rest of the participants of the High Score Challenge! I am happy to have been taking part in the I/O high score challenge the past few months. I've been so busy that if it hasn't been for the I/O high score challenges, I'm not sure if I would have played video games at all. It's been really fun playing games for Atari consoles.
  7. I had the 4 switch woody as a kid. The six switch woody is the iconic model, and that's what I prefer mostly because of aesthetics. My daily driver is a light sixer with s-video output that I bought from ebay. The other 2600 models in my collection are two heavy sixers (one I bought from the original owner and other I bought from Pink Gorilla because it was only $50), and they are both now signed by Joe Decuir.
  8. You got me 😂 I tried 3 and thought I was special and wanted to see what the next "fact" was. This did reminded me that being fooled and not having the need to be right all the time is a good and happy thing. I'm now trying to plan how to liquidate my games for the PlayStation 1, 2, and 4. Outside of the Switch, these are my most valuable part of my game collection.
  9. This was pretty much me when I overheard the conversation of a couple of twenty-somethings eight or nine years ago while riding the Amazon company shuttle. They were talking about 80s fashion and how cool it was -- "vintage" is the word they used. I guess I should have taken it in the context of vintage and fine wine, but I took it as vintage in the sense old antiques 😂 My youth and teen years are now vintage.
  10. 42,042 Made a small improvement to my score 🙂
  11. Me, too -- I'm still trying. Earlier today, I reached 35k for the first time in a while. Edit: I need to remind myself to cover the power light on the 7800. I'm going to get blinded sooner or later by that bright blue light.
  12. Cool, I will see you there. Champ Games is the first booth I will be hitting. I saw Champ Games post on FB that boxed copies of Turbo will be available in limited quantity, and I need two (one for me and another for a FB friend).
  13. As far as buying Vectrex games online, don't forget Mercari and other online platforms in addition to ebay. I found many reasonably priced Vectrex games on Mercari which is the only other platform I've regularly used in addition to ebay. Vectrex game prices on ebay have gotten even more crazy recently. As far as buying the Vectrex console goes, I would really hesitate buying one online and having it shipped. I'm just too nervous about damage during transit. I bought mine from a local gamer a few years ago and helped another local game buy one locally from craigslist a couple years ago. Most economic way to play Vectrex games? Reach out to Jason Kopps on Facebook. He's in the Vectrex fans unite! FB group. He sells a multi-cart for $20 (maybe $25 now) which contains all the official releases and a bunch more. It's a PCB board without a cartridge case. If you must have the screen overlays to complete the game playing experience, Sean Kelly sells reproduction overlays. He also sells a multi-cart for $50 (comes in cartridge case). By the way, buying from Sean is an easier experience (he operates a business) than trying to buy from Jason (hobbyist).
  14. I have 2199 and 2205 series but haven't watched them yet. I am waiting until I rewatch the original series 🙂 I didn't realize Gene and the cast visited the shuttle. So the Enterprise NASA space shuttle was named after the USS Enterprise NCC-1701? Seeing this photo, I did a quick search and found this article on NASA's website. The shuttle was named after the NCC-1701! That's really cool and even neater to read about Star Trek's relationship to NASA and the show's influence. We need more shows like it that inspires generations to push for better human culture.
  15. 🙂 Yes! I did get box from Marc and the patch from Machine.
  16. No other fictional space ship tugs at my heart like the Yamato from the original series. I can hear the soundtrack playing in my head as I type this. I read the manga during the 70s in Korea and watched Star Blazers in the US during the early 80s. Saturn V was the first real space craft that I was exposed to most as a kid. Seeing the launch footages on TV was always mesmerizing and never got old.
  17. Very cool @sramirez2008! I'm still learning about who's who in the wold of video games. Back in 2019, I only knew two names and those were David and Garry. Heck, Dan was there but I didn't know who he was or anything about him then 🤦‍♂️ One of their wives was there and she was very nice and took the photo. I'm guessing she did the same for you. I definitely will research the guest roster and learn more about the people who created all this awesomeness that has stayed with me all my life. Asteroids is in my top 10 coin-ops list. One of my co-workers is a distant relative of Eugene Jarvis, the designer of my top 2 coin-op games Robotron and Defender. And of course, I did run into you and Eugenio last year at PRGE 🙂
  18. Conversely, don't you just hate it when that passenger who boards at the last minute comes and sits next to you? On a recent flight, I remember the lady in the aisle seat and I were praying together that the middle seat would be unoccupied, and then, the very last person to board came and sat between us 😂
  19. I didn't realize I was in such exclusive(?) company with my Jaguar and Vectrex. I realize they aren't as common as the Nintendo and Sega consoles, but I'm getting the feeling that they're not as common as I thought. I actually acquired the Jaguar a couple of years ago because I wanted to take part in the Atari I/O high score challenge. My cool-to-me items in my collection: 2600 Activision North American collection -- all in box with manual. I finally added the last game, Cosmic Commuter, earlier this year. 2600 Pitfall! and Keystone Kapers signed by David Crane and Dan Kitchens, respectively. When I stalked them at PRGE a few years ago to get a photo and the games signed, they asked me, "Is this all you brought?" I felt bad enough bringing two games and imposing on them 😂 Last month, Joe Decuir signed my two heavy sixers, Video Olympics, and Atari 800. I was super stoked to get the 800 (my first computer love) signed by someone directly involved with creating it.
  20. Man, I shouldn't have read this thread. I briefly considered the CV last year but didn't want to add a new console.
  21. Cool beans! About her age, that's what I was thinking so I thought it must have been someone else if the ad was from back in the day.
  22. Did TI put overlay a photo of the 99/4A on top of an 🍎?? 😆 The model reminds me of Song Hye Kyo who recently starred in Glory. Was the 99/4A marketing line "This computer is excellent"? That's what the Korean says.
  23. Congratulations on the release 🍾 🎉 I shared the link to the post in a retro computers group on FB.
  24. Ha! I have skinned a cat (high school senior year biology class), and the ass looked more like a scrotum 😂
