  1. Sounds like there’s really little reason to play the official release 😂
  2. It is a great game! That's why I love these high score challenges as they get me to play games that I probably wouldn't play otherwise. I am curious what the official Venture release is like and how this improves on it. Thank you and yes, everyone should play it more. You have a week remaining 🙂
  3. 240,200 I got to 230k with all my lives and thought I might even hit close to 300k -- nope 😂 Just a very small improvement on my previous high score
  4. I'm taking the wait and see approach. The 2600+ has no practical application for me as I play on original hardware with a tube TV. I also prefer to use SD card cartridges whenever possible, so I'd be curious about compatibility with the Harmony Encore, Dragonfly, and the 7800 GD. I got a Retron 77 when it came out just to have one because I thought it looked cute. I may end up getting the 2600+ eventually.
  5. Wow, I'm sad that I'm only learning about this now. I remember those years when Las Vegas was trying to attract the family crowd. I went to Las Vegas for the first time only a few years ago, and that was a one day visit. Las Vegas holds no appeal for me, but I would gladly visit Las Vegas for something like the ST Experience.
  6. Best wishes, Rob, for you and your wife and the folks in Kelowna and all those fighting the blaze.
  7. Another adVentureR 🛡️Welcome to the fun @greenween. I'm just hoping to get my AA Last Chance orders before Christmas 😂 With all the work that Al probably puts into preparing for PRGE, I have little hope that my orders will arrive before PRGE 😆 No worries though.
  8. I had no idea that the red boxes had a connection to the Jr. The more you know--thanks!
  9. I had been eyeing ebay for Galaxian in particular, and then this lot came up. I paid $50 for the lot so just a few bucks per cart. There are a few local gamers who from time to time sell FC and SFC cartridges, and because the prices are usually very good, I usually pick up a few mostly because I think the FC and SFC cartridges are so cool. Surprisingly, it took a few days for all ten to be sold. Hope to see you again at PRGE.
  10. He posted ten copies on the AtariAge. I was also planning to get it at PRGE but just in case I couldn’t make it, I got it early.
  11. Today's mail call is an eclectic mixture -- most notable are John Hancock's latest 2600 homebrew and Datasoft's Bruce Lee. I loved playing Bruce Lee on my 800 back in the day. Datasoft is one of the publishers that warms my heart. So far, I only have three from Datasoft (Bruce Lee, Zaxxon, Canyon Climber).
  12. Fire? Yikes! Hope nothing else was damaged @Jinroh I thought about getting a Famicom because they look cool but decided to go with the adapter to save shelf space. There's a local reseller who was featured in a MetalJesusRocks video, and he's got all things Japanese. I'd probably check with him if I decided to get the real deal. I got my PCEngine from him.
  13. My current lock screen on my iPhone. I found it on Pinterest earlier this year. I was looking for an old school Mazinger wallpaper, and this was perfect.
  14. The instructions say it works with a front loader. There is a ribbon attached to the adapter that you pull on to remove it from the front loader. I have a top loader NES, so no problem there. I would expect it work on a Retron since it's a Hyperkin product as well. This is the cheapest adapter I found that was made by a reputable company. I've seen other adapters go for $25-$30.
  15. @RickR I don't have a Famicom but I picked up the 60-to-72 pin adapter by Hyperkin. But the stupid thing isn't working 🙁 Instructions say to press the reset button 4-8 times if the game doesn't start. I tried four cartridges and none of them are working. That's disappointing. I may need to buy the adapter from the guy that sold me the Famicom cartridges. Update: The adapter got so many good review so I went and read a few. One particular reviewer shared the fix and I've confirmed that it works: It doesn’t state this on the box or the inserts included inside, but you need to place the famicom cartridge backwards, with the cover art facing the opposite of the top loader or “toaster” loader. Placing the cartridge the same way will not work and you’ll be left scratching your head. There’s a bit of a crunchy sound when inserting the cartridge but it works fine if you follow the proper way to insert the cartridge. Also works on Retron/Classiq II clone systems, as well as actual NES systems. There are a few caveats such as sound effects not being exactly perfect or the audio being slightly muted, but it’s a small price to pay to enjoy playing Famicom games.
  16. 162,200 I thought I was going to break 200k because I was cruising past 150k but nope.
  17. Mothership called you back to the office?
  18. I picked up a batch of Famicom cartridges from a local gamer/reseller. I find the Famicom cartridge colors and labels fascinating, and I generally buy them for that reason. I got this batch because of Choplifter, Galaxian, Popeye, Lode Runner, and Tetris. The rest looked interesting enough. I also had another local gamer service my Genesis and SNES. I haven't put much time with them, but what little time I did have really impressed me, especially the Genesis. I heard that the Model 2 benefits from the triple bypass audio upgrade, so I got that in addition to have it recapped. A couple of years ago, I bought the cheapest SNES that was offered by a local reseller. It was a little gross looking--a bit dingy and yellowed. At the time, I didn't care because I was only intending to play one game on it (NBA Jam TE). Now that I'm getting more into it, I decided to give it a makeover with a new clear shell and recapped. The old case was given the retrobrite treatment and came out looking pretty nice.
  19. Jon is just cranking out the 7800 content 👏👏👏🕹️ ❤️
  20. I downloaded the manual for the original Venture and attached it here. I assume the scoring mechanism between the original release and the Reloaded version are the same -- namely that you get points for killing monsters in a chamber only if you grab the treasure first. You get points for killing the monsters only when you have obtained the treasure. Killing the monsters before getting the treasure nets you no points. At least that's my reading of the manual. 21. I ordered a copy this morning and added a few other games for the A8 and 5200 to the order. I'm not sure how I missed Carrot Kingdom during the initial offering (maybe it sold out?) but glad to have gotten one now.
  22. 156,200 Woohoo! A new to me game -- I heard about Venture but had never played it. The protagonist looks just like me -- a big noggin 😆
