Wow...so 81,060 is the current high score.  Gee...I better drink lots of caffeine-induced sodas or LOTS of coffee.

I'm going to try to capture video for this one.  My setup is kinda crude and something I believe Frankenstein himself would be proud of

7800 is hiding in a small cubby hole, just big enough for it.  This was a LOT of work to setup but I'm going to give it a shot.  The only sounds heard will be coming from the game itself.

    I hope this works.

    Hello all,

I should have started here first but went ahead posting elsewhere.

I have been around different Atari forums since '97 - Jaguar Interactive II, Jaguar Sector II, AtariAge, groups on Facebook. Never been banned from anywhere. I just want to talk about the systems and the games - no real penchant or time for personal dramas Names were generally under Shaggy or some variation on that. I haven't really been active on an Atari forum since JS2 closed...I do some occasional posts on AA or a Facebook group here and there.

I own the Atari 2600, 5200, 7800, 800XL, XEGS, ST, Lynx, Jaguar and presently 9 Atari arcade games (one of which is their pinball machine Space Riders).

Long, long ago when Geocities was a thing I ran a site called "Kingdom Atari". That all seems to have been lost but it was fun for learning HTML and such things. I also ran a site called Castle NUON for a couple of years to discuss and report on that hardware, which felt a lot like the Jaguar 2 that we never got.

Currently I operate a site called Arcade Heroes where my focus is on real arcades and the current market surrounding those. Been doing that for 10 years and it is a lot of fun.

Professionally I own and operate a business in Utah called the Game Grid Arcade which will turn 9 this year. I also do website design and writing for an arcade distribution business and have done writing for a pinball mod company at the end of last year. I sold arcade games for five years while at a major online distributor but I quit that job last year to move onto brighter, greener pastures.

I look forward to hanging out!

I couldn't take my eyes off of this.   Teenagers being teenagers back when I was a teenager.   Seemed like a happier time, even though I was far from happy in 1987.

The 5200 is a great console on its own right.  I didn't get one until about 10 years ago but I have to say that have really enjoyed playing its games.  In fact, it is impressive as the game library for the system is rather excellent.  The majority of the games are very good to excellent.  I know some people will hate on the system because of the controllers and the lack of self-centering but there are alternatives.  I use with Wico controller to address that issue for games like Pac-Man that require more precise control.  Overall, though, this is a fun system with a great library of games.

    extra guy @ 20k?
I played with a pro-line (ball mod on right) and noticed both guns and bombs fired at the same time.

I held controller sideways with index finger hooking the fire button on the bottom. unlimited ammo unlike the guys in origonal Star Wars who didn't want to waste a shot at the escape pod holding the droids.

I figured you could use any stick or pad for this if that's the case.

it's also interesting to note that the difficulty settings are screen-selectable and the manual switches are only for backward-compatibility with 2600 games

Hi all!  I had been reading on the Atari.io site but had not realized there were forums so I decided to join once I discovered them!  I'm a big time retro game gamer and collector.  My collection goes from retro to modern:  Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, Atari Lynx, Atari Jaguar, Mattel Intellivision, Vectrex, NES, Sega Genesis, Sega Dreamcast, Xbox (original), Nintendo GameCube, GBA, Nintendo DS, PSP, PS4, and Retron N5. I also have a portable 2600 and a Sega Nomad.

My first system was the Atari 2600 all those years ago and I was mostly an Atari guy early on.  I didn't get other systems until later on.  Atari systems are still my favorites but I do admit the Sega systems are also awesome to play on.

Over the years I have gotten more involved in the retro video game community and I have written reviews for games and books.  My most recent review if the review for that fantastic book from Tim Lapetino, The Art of Atari.  You can check that out here:  http://tinyurl.com/zexkux5

I look forward to participating in the forum and getting to know folks here.
