  1. The black gunk is conductive grease that dries up and becomes non conductive over time.
  2. Ah, so those are the normal sprites from the game? I got fooled.
  3. That Kool Aid Man easter egg is pretty neat. But what do the "K" and "W" mean?
  4. The best part of this story is the marketing guy who pushed to not release it. A few small changes would have made the game a lot better. Black background, blue maze, for example. And remove the eye on Pac-Man. They do mention that a lot of other programmers thought it was a tremendous accomplishment on the 2600, and it is. Especially when you consider it was Tod Frye's first game! But that's the frustrating part....just a few small changes..... One part I still don't understand is the lack of oversight at Atari. It always seemed like the programmer didn't have to listen to any input from other developers or a supervisor. The decisions they made went unchallenged. I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate, but it seems to be implied in a lot of stories like this. This was a good read, and thanks for posting it.
  5. There are many spectacular paddle games to try. And it's such a unique control that doesn't emulate well, it is totally worth playing them on real hardware. Good luck with your repairs, and I'm here if you need any tips.
  6. I'm making tomorrow (Friday) Atari day because I certainly run into more people at work than I will on Saturday.
  7. I have two broken "Touch Me" handhelds on the way. Keeping my fingers crossed that they can be fixed. If so, they will be for sale for a nice fair price if anyone is interested.
  8. Double Dragon (MAME) - Love being able to "reverse-elbow". Ace of Aces (Atari 8-bit) - choppy graphics. Not very fun. Dig Dug (MAME) - very fun.

  10. Lots of cool label variations.
  11. Organized? I consider it more like real-life Tetris.
  12. A view of my attic, where most of my stuff is kept. This is shelf #1 of 2. Someday, I'd like to be able to keep this stuff out for use, but no room at the present time.
  13. Would you like the smoking or non-smoking section?
  14. Here we go. From Rowsdower. Three handheld games (have I mentioned I'm a sucker for these?) And the cool hat. And a game I haven't opened yet. Armor Battle needed a clean. Works great! Did I mention the Mattel handhelds are my favorites? Missing the battery cover, but RickR does not care. A working game = smiling RickR. Pac Man 2 - needed some cleaning, and the controls didn't quite work. Repaired that with some soapy water and electrical contact cleaner. It's actually a lot of fun with an elaborate maze. For the two game, player 2 controls the ghosts! How cool is that? I'll tell you what, playing the 2 player game with only 1 player == the easiest time clearing the maze I've ever had! Take that "Blinky" -- if that's even your real name. Dracula - needed the power switch cleaned up, but works great now. It was hard to take apart because it needed a special screwdriver. Found the right one if my magical toolbox. Once you take it apart...there were springs and even a ball bearing to carefully keep track of inside. This game is totally cool. It has multi-color graphics and some really nice sound. Rowsdower says it has more than one screen...but it's so dang difficult, I can't get by the first screen! And check out the "magnified" screen. It must have the evil power of Dracula...because my camera can't focus on it. It's really just a piece of clear film kind of bent into a parabola shape. But cool. Very cool. The battery cover is cracked. Rowsdower temporarily repaired that with a sticker. I think I'll leave that as-is. Otherwise, my fingers will end up glued to something. THANK YOU!

    Your first car

Here's mine. Loved this car. Very reliable. Had a bench seat! I sold it in 1990 when I bought my very first new car (a 1990 Honda Civic). If I ever collect old cars, I'm going to start with a really old Toyota or Honda.
  16. That guy has a lot of really cool toys. Living the dream.
  17. I've got one and have loved it for 30 years.
  18. Play an M Network game on that thing for me!!!
  19. I can respect that. Maybe add a small "Reproduction label by mbergeron" to them. Have you seen some of the labels out here man? They look like a dump truck ran over them in a dirt factory.
  20. Another suggestion (I don't know if you want suggestions...don't take this the wrong way....I think your stuff looks great!) would be replacement 2600 Activision labels. You know how the originals get all gunked up. Or replacement Parker Brothers labels (for whatever reason, the originals seem to fall off and get torn).
  21. Oh man, those look good. Let me know when the Atari 8-bit labels are available!
  22. Updated post #1 - added 5200 games.
  23. Great stuff from nosweargamer! Thank you for the awesome trade.
