    eBay Finds

I bought this lot just to get Countermeasure. Anyone want to trade for Space Invaders and/or Super Breakout?
  2. From Mr. StormSurge. Double Dragon 2 (w manual!) and Legendary Wings for NES Plus, a bonus item....broken paddles that need to be repaired. Challenge ACCEPTED. Thanks!
  3. That is very cool! I'll bet they work very nicely and feel good in the hand. The original paddles are great -- another design that Atari nailed on the first try. But these look nice too.
  4. Dude! That thing is awesome!
  5. Was this from Atari Age magazine? Nevermind...found it...Atari Age Volume 2, Issue 1: http://www.atarimania.com/mags/pdf/atari_age_vol_2_no_1.pdf
  6. I read an interesting article about the game, and specifically about that lag you mentioned. The author of the game wrote a pretty elaborate 3-D rendering algorithm for the explosions that pretty much brought the CPU to it's knees. He says if he had more time, he would have simplified that. I always thought it was kind of cool. Like a crude version of "bullet time" to savor your victory over those Zylon scum!
  7. I recently got one of these too! It is fun, but what really attracted me to it is the wild 70's graphics and font, and just the cool look of it. It's one of my favorite handheld games.

I'm not falling for the old banana in the tailpipe trick.

Just watched this late last week and still love it! Eddie Murphy's laugh is ridiculous at times though haha

  9. The computer version is absolutely one of my all-time favorites. I do have the 5200 version, and agree with you that the joystick works well. Plus they fixed a bug or two. But I miss the keyboard, which really gave it that "Star Trek" feel. In fact, it wasn't uncommon to have one player manning the joystick and another on the keyboard with the computer version. Of course, you HAD to call the keyboard guy "Mr. Sulu".
  10. That reminds me of the time I found a stack of VIC-20 carts at Salvation Army. Video Games are $3, but the lady insisted they were cassette tapes. 0.25.
  11. I have an extra set of Atari 2600 paddles for trade. All cleaned up to be jitter-free.
  12. I'm assuming that among the lot of us, we have a pretty boss 2600 joystick collection. Please post the unique joysticks you have. I'll bet that together, we have every one made back in the day. Here's what I have: Top row: Pointmaster, Quickshot II, Epyx 500XJ, GemStik, Wico Boss Bottom row: Atari Flashback 2, Original Atari CX-10 (it has springs inside!), Atari CX-40, Slik Stik, Suncom Tac30, Kraft.
  13. I'll put it next on my play list. I've heard good things.
  14. Complete!
  15. It's so easy to be negative about stuff. Give positivity a try. Your soul will thank you.

  16. 4 more Atari carts for trade:
  17. Here is the June 1982 review of Pac Man from Electronic Games magazine. I like to pull this out for those that think a bad opinion of the game only came much later. Pac Man Review - EG June 1982.pdf
  18. And a bit more from me....I just want to state that no matter what I say about Pac Man on 2600, I hope to goodness no one feels offended in any way. For example, AtariBrian loves the game, and I totally respect that. It's a fun topic to talk about, but it's just a game. Like all pieces of art, opinions may vary and it's totally acceptable.
  19. Holding it and playing is part of the challenge!
  20. Nice stuff for sure. I wish I didn't already have all this or I'd be all over it.
  21. PS - Kamakazi has a great blog post about this very topic. http://forums.atari.io/index.php/blog/8/entry-27-pac-man-atari-2600/
  22. And more from me (of course)....I always found it fascinating that the versions of Pac Man Atari created for other systems were all really, really good. TI-99/4A, VIC-20, Intellivision, C64, Atari 800, 5200....those were all great.
  23. Agree with all these sentiments. It's a fun game, it did get a lot of playtime from me when it was new. But the game was NOT Pac Man, and it ended up eroding confidence in the 2600 and Atari. At the time, you could see a superior version on the computers of the day, and even the lowly O2 had a better munching game. Atari was more interested in suing other companies than making great games, it seemed. Pac Man made me think twice before buying any other game from Atari. Was a VIC-20 version available instead? If yes, I'd probably just go with that -- that was my thinking after Pac Man. So yes, it was a good game...but ended up creating a lot of baggage for Atari IMO.
  24. Great trades! You guys rock.
