I still wish they'd make a flashback with a cartridge slot.

I've had Zaxby's and loved it! I never had the opportunity to try RC, but if I'm near one at some point I'll definitely give it a try.

We are just starting to get Chick-Fil-a in Michigan; I think restaurants are set to open early next year. There was one across from our hotel in Fairfax when my family and I were doing DC for our vacation a couple years back, and we ate there for dinner the first night, and had it for breakfast 3-4 times during our trip. So I'm a little excited :-)

I found a really nice game store while visiting Charleston, SC.  "Starlite Gaming".  They had a huge amount of really great stuff for most systems.  Oldest I could see on the floor was NES, so i asked if they had anything older.  They were nice enough to bring out a box of "the good stuff" (to me anyways) and let me paw through it.  So I picked out a few titles...including a boxed Sears Baseball!

Highly recommended for anyone in the area.  Give them a shot.

I have retropie on a pi 1, and use it for arcade game emulation, for which it works very nicely.  I also tried 2600 games, and they work great.

I have not tried SNES or NES....but if you have time, I can try sometime later this week.  We can compare notes.

Well, I've got a long plane trip and vacation coming up fast!  I thought I'd share the games I'm taking.  Your comments please!  My wife will be attending a conference, so if i end up with nothing to do, I figure this will keep me happy.

I'm taking a DS this time instead of my GBA-SP because it's got a headphone jack.

I'm most looking forward to spending time with Yoshi's Island and Mario Party.

If you couldn't tell from my name, HUGE BSG fan, and I'm in the both camp.

To be honest, I wasn't pleased when I heard some of the characters were going to be gender swapped in the new one (especially Starbuck), but the pilot looked so good, I had to watch it. After seeing Starbuck punch out Colonel Tigh, I loved new Starbuck just as much as old Starbuck.

I still watch the old show from time to time. It's campy as hell at some points, and I still chuckle when I see the same reused space battle shots over and over, but it's definitely more family friendly than the new one which is a big plus for me.

My last flight to Disney in Florida back in August, my wife, daughter and I all took our 3DS's on the trip. We played some Mario Kart 7 using my daughter's cartridge and download play while we were at the airport. Had a blast! Got airsick on the plane though, so no 3DS for me during the flight :-(

I have a DS multicart, so it varies what I play and when, but it makes my 3DS the system of choice for me when I travel.

I also have a PSP, and if I'm really into a particular PSP game at the moment or want emulation, I use it instead.

I've never seen or had Zaxby's slaw. (Maybe mine doesn't have that???) I guess I should have stated that Zaxby's Chicken Finger meal does not come with Cole Slaw, as Raising Cane's does.

There is NO campiness, that's true.  But there is a lot of homage.  And tons of characters you will love or hate.  And a whole lot of surprises you won't see coming.

Steak and Shake is one of my favorites. When I was a kid I worked at a movie theater that had a Steak and Shake outside next to the parking lot. A few times a week I'd walk over there with my friends and get food. It was always fresh and better than McDonald's and their milkshakes were worth every calorie.

Raising Cane's was founded by Todd Graves, an LSU Graduate and his first store (1996) was right outside the gates of LSU. Todd tells a story of how he wrote a business plan of a restaurant that would only sell Chicken Fingers - and the professor said it would never work. Go Figure! Now Cane's has over 300 locations coast to coast and some in the Middle East.

Now fast forward to 2015, Zaxby's (based in GA) decides to build their first locations in Louisiana.............. in "Cane's Country"!!! Where I live, I got one of the 2 new LA locations, which they built right down the street from our Cane's too! (Of course, this is the same place, Watson, LA  that took on 34 inches of rain August 12-14, 2016 during the Great Flood of 2016 - neither one were flooded)

    My take:
Cane's - best sauce........ EVER! Made daily fresh in the store!  Zaxby's sauce is premade, similar to McD's dippin' sauces for their McNuggets. The chicken - Cane's and Zaxby's both fresh - Zaxby's "fried" skin is much harder than Cane's. (just depends on what you prefer) Cole Slaw - Cane's puts it in the styrofoam box with the hot chicken and french fries and sometimes makes the slaw hot. Zaxby's doesn't have slaw at all. French Fries - Cane's small crinkle fries - best when just out of the fryer (like McD's fries), Zaxby's bigger crinkle fries but seasoned! Texas Toast - Cane's uses oval bread - Zaxby's uses the actual "Texas Toast" bread Drinks - Cane's makes their sweet (and unsweet) tea daily and actually squeezes lemons for their lemonade daily. Zaxby's has sweet/unsweet tea but no lemonade. SEC / LSU - Cane's has had Les Miles as their spokesperson for all 12 years he was here. Then Zaxby's comes to town and states they are "the official chicken for sports fanz" and has a deal w/ 30 NCAA universities including LSU.

We were starved for sci-fi universes in the immediate post-Star Wars period, so BSG was a welcome addition to that headspace.
Saw the pilot movie on the big screen, during its theatrical release. This was both a good and bad thing.

Good to see a TV pilot on the biggest screen possible, as it promised to bring home this new story with a sense of epic proportions.
Bad in that it was a TV pilot shot with network budget, and unlikely to shine a fraction as much as Lucas' brightest star in this new realm of cinematic display.

So, my feelings for the original is marshalled by that sense of disappointment in the comparative nature of the movie outing (to be fair, we did have a good time and did not mock the flick) and the let-down by the lack of zesty writing in the full series, as well as its repetitive storytelling (how many times can a star pilot get lost on a planet? Apparently lots and lots).
But all in all, having recently rewatched the '78 BSG blu-ray collection this summer and surfed on that nostalgia wave, the memories warmed up on it.
The actors are charming, the stories are Saturday-morning family fare, the effects are still nifty and shiny (very much so on those cylon armors).

Still, I can't bring myself to cross into Galactica 80.

As for the reboot - when it came out, those first few eps blew our collective minds (me and some movie pals).
As you mention Rick, everything about it is top-notch: silent space flght and realistic zoom cam, smart writing and intensely good actors.
Some things made less sense (like the doc and his imaginary girlfriend), but we figured it would pan out as the series went on.
I'm sad to say, though, it lost us shortly after.
Maybe it was the feeling it had to go metaphysical when the gritty materialistic aspects of post-war survival was more attractive as prospective storylines.
Maybe the sense it had to shock and twist to live out the duration of its run got to be a bit much (although, this is almost essential for lots of TV shows, so can't fault it for that).
Maybe after pausing for a while and reading how outlandish it seemed to have become did not make coming back to it a necessity.

I dunno, I feel I could try it out again, but I recall watching it a second time from the start on dvd and feeling wary and drifting away during mid-second season (I think). or maybe it was the third.

It's definitely the kind of show I wanna like.
And I hate the idea of bringing negative vibes to an appreciation of it.

But since the question was posed here, thought I'd give good praise and affection to the inoffensive original series, and a general thumb-up-but-not-for-me to the reboot.

Someday I'd like to finish it, though.

I'm assuming we have a ton of fans here of the show.  Question is....old version, new...or both?

I fall in the "Both" camp.

The original was great...but you can just feel the interference of the network -- kind of souring the experience.  "Add a kid!", "not too bloody", etc.  And the budget always seemed to be in question.  Re-used shots for example.  Hokey effects, another.  And finally, the almost complete reboot for season 2.  Give me a break!  Still, absolutely loved it at the time, and I think it's very watchable still.

The reboot is awesome.  You can tell they had a vision and had no compromises.  I LOVE the quiet space effects.  Great effects, great writing, great acting all around.  This show is spectacular.

I know we've argued about it multiple times in the forums.  Arenafoot and jmjustin6 always mention these two (although I can't remember who likes which).

Anyways, I just tried Cane's, and it was awesome.  I'll try Zaxby's within the next few days.  Yes, while my wife is off working, I am sampling the fast-food joints they have down south that we don't have at home.  Don't worry, fancy restaurants are being visited with her in the evenings.

Also tried "Steak N Shake" and was immensely impressed.  Such a great deal.  There is no way you can find a table service restaurant back home at these prices.  WOW!  Southern living is alright!!
