@RickR You are exactly right, there are many games that can be played without 32K, and a few surprising ones.  Since @CrossBow has a FinalGROM, the list is even longer.

@CrossBow since you have a FinalGROM without a 32K expansion, I'll start this list of with one of my all time favorites that was ported over to the TI in 2018.  It's called "Borzork" it's a spot-on reproduction of Berzerk.  It's one of those games that stay in my rotation list.

I like it so much, I made a dedicated cartridge for it!  It's killer with speech.  I dunno why I'm getting Deja Vu posting this, I hope I didn't upload this a week ago or something, but with age comes a feeble memory so....

I have a boxed and working TI-99 but rarely fire it up. I have a few carts for it and I even picked up the FinalGrom at PRGE back in 2019. But I've never even setup an SD card with it to use it yet. It isn't a system I have a ton of fondness for or really desire to pick up and play something on, but it was one of the first computers I experienced in my youth as my stepdads mom had one in the early 80s on a little color TV and I could remember playing Chisholm Trail and some other simpler games on it and thought it was cool and fun. Back in the early 80s it was!
So, that said, I voted on Reasons for a Newbie to get into the system because I'm curious to know more about what I can do and play on it. I don't have the 32k expansion, (I don't have any expansion on my Vic-20 either). But I know there is still quite a bit I can play on it that might be unique or provide a different and maybe a better game experience on the TI vs other systems it might have been released on?

Sadly, so many people jump to conclusions now days without having all the facts.  I'll be the first one to admit a bare bones console is as worthless as a rusty anchor without a chain.  Add 32K and a FinalGROM and you have something that can play games.  Add a TIPI and WOW!

As promised, the video of my call in to Heatwave BBS using Classic 99!

NOTE: I wanted to upload the program, but the BBS would not accept the .ZIP extension or the program extension.  Any ideas?

The new version of Classic 99 is has a new feature that's has not yet widely been circulated.  You emulation users should << CLICK HERE >> to get the latest version of Classic 99!  Why? Well, because if you run his new version, you can actually call the BBS's through Classic 99!
I did a rather hasty screen grab but, wow, I'm blown away now you can view Heatwave BBS the way it was meant to be seen on a real TI!  I'll be posting the short video soon so stay tuned.

If you're most people, you have a few "favorite games", but playing the same games all the time can get a little... well... boring.  So, you're probably like many of us who have a "Personal Rotation List".  Oh, the list might not even be written down, but do you always seem to draw from the same batch?  Well, if so they must be really good games!  Let's share our lists with each other and see what turns out to be the most popular among us all.
The top few can be weaved into this threads sister thread the: Weekly Showcase - Homebrews, Ports and Others

With COVID-19 and all, TI get togethers have been few and far between.  Sooooo, how about watching the TIPI presentation I made at Fest West 2017?  If I get some positive feedback, I may just re-upload some other videos from the 2016 & 2017 Fest West get togethers.

I've never seen a TI that did not have a socketed 9918.  I cannot speak of all the QI motherboards out there, but even on the photo below of this QI motherboard has a heatsink, but the 9918 is socketed.

After I finally get done with the Atari.io video, probably in another week or two, what would you like as the next video?

Before I post anything else for your viewing pleasure, I'm aware the operator of this site would prefer I not fill up his hard drive, by keeping my images off-site.  With that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations for a FREE site that will allow me to link my photos to that does NOT plaster a hosting watermark on the image?  This may be asking too much, but I'd rather not give any site my email or other personal information that would spam my inbox.
