Lost Dragon reacted to MaximumRD in Hyperkin - Retron 77. HD Atari 2600?
I am just hoping if it plays original carts it fully supports my HARMONY CART. IF NOT meh, I have enough 2600 compatible consoles and modded systems to support my 2600 games.

Lost Dragon reacted to Atari Today in Hyperkin - Retron 77. HD Atari 2600?
Uhh..dudes? Looks like there is an HD offering from Hyperkin that will potentially be announced during E3.
Some folks were doing some super sleuthing in regards to the teaser trailer released for "Ataribox" and while they didn't find further details in regards to that, they did stumble across the following on the E3 exhibitor details site. This week could get interesting in regards to Atari announcements..for better or worse.
http://mp037jm24.mapyourshow.com/7_0/exhibitor/exhibitor-details.cfm?ExhID=vKfzxkpC RetroN 77 Retro Gaming Console
The RetroN 77 plays all your favorite 2600 cartridges in beautiful 1080p HD. It's one happenin' pixel party for the senses. Marvel at the slick wood paneling; the on-board game and difficulty select; and the included premium joystick - perfect for all you one-button warriors. Can. You. Dig. It?
-My thoughts on Hyperkin very. I own the Retron 5 and while it I've had fun with it I admit that the build quality isn't exactly top notch. My SNES first controller port has crapped out (along with the cheap wireless controller the system came with) and I can no longer go left. I now use a sega genesis controller with my system. My friends Retron 5 system has completely bitten the dust after getting close to two years out of it.
Some random questions include: Will this be emulation based? If it is emulation based will there be lag? Will it support paddle, racing, keypad, controllers?

Lost Dragon reacted to Justin in Albert’s statement on AtariAge regarding Coleco
I think we always had a feeling that we were waiting for the other shoe to drop with the Coleco Chameleon, but it's been a year. Everybody seemed to give "Coleco" the benefit of the doubt. I don't think a year ago anybody would've expected this.
Thank you. I have tremendous respect for the homebrew community. I think we're going to do a "homebrew appreciation week" to celebrate these guys and their games. It's important to look past the handful of disappointments and appreciate the breadth of incredible games that the homebrew community has given us over the past 15 years. When I first started collecting classic games in 1993 I thought we were at the end of the line, that no new games would be coming out for these systems. Turns out we've seen some of the best games for these systems come out in just the past few years.
Sadly that always seems to be the case! It would have been a smarter move for Atari to work with Jeff Minter on making TxK an officially licensed product.
Pat had one more video on this subject that I meant to include in my original post:

Today's Colecovision is simply an a-hole who bought some Coleco ip, ie he is just in it for the money and cares nothing for the community or fan loyalty. Chris has no interest in forging relationships with Coleco fans, he claims he does but so far his actions reveal otherwise.

Sad, very sad! The retromarket has reached a certain size and that is the moment, the locusts enter the scene.
It is the same situation with the actual Atari. They had made a mess with Jeff Minters TxK several years ago. They claimed that Minter had illegally used the code of T2K for Jaguar for that PSV game. So Minter had stopped any activity for a PS4-Translation of TxK.
Sad, very sad!

Lost Dragon reacted to TeddyGermany in Forbidden Forest - C64 games could be scary!
Caverns of Khafka for C64 and A8 are completely different games. On C64 the level scrolls very groggy and the controls are sloppy. Sometimes your sprite falls flat and you loose a life without having a clue why. But the music is awesome and creates a superbe atmosphere. So you stay tuned.
On A8 the cavern is build on one screen and the controls should be more accurate. But i also haven't seen that version until now.

Lost Dragon reacted to Justin in Albert’s statement on AtariAge regarding Coleco
Albert posted a statement on AtariAge regarding Coleco that I think is deserving of everyone’s attention: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/265739-coleco-strong-arming-homebrew-publishers-and-fan-sites/page-42?do=findComment&comment=3777374
Many of our members are active on AtariAge and are also Coleco enthusiasts. The ColecoVision community has set a high water mark for classic gaming at its best. Just one example of this community is Eduardo Mello of OpCode Games who has done an outstanding job with bringing his projects to fruition. Eduardo has been a personal hero of mine for well over a decade, and in my opinion he's really hit it out of the park demonstrating a level of innovation and top shelf quality that can be done in homebrewing. Seeing what other classic gamers have done is inspiring. It's pushed me to go farther, try harder, and make everything I'm working on even better than I thought possible. This is exactly the sort of passion needed for classic gaming to thrive, and those who dedicate themselves to creating "new things for old toys" should be lauded for their endeavors. This might be a nice time to drop Eduardo a line, or any one of your favorite homebrewers, just to say thanks for all that they do.

This is from my old house, so this pic is over 10 years old, but here it is.
I built the cabinet and found a TV with super video input. I have it connected to a power outlet that turns on when it senses another machine turn on. And I have the computer inside (still running Windows 98!!!) run off that plug and set to turn on when a key is pressed. I bought the control panel from SlikStik. So when I press any button on the panel, the computer turns on which triggers the TV to come on. It's magic! I have a shortcut on my desktop to turn off the computer, so I track ball to that, double tap it and the whole thing shuts off. I love it. Just played it with a buddy last weekend while cranking 80s tunes and finishing off a bottle of Jack. Fun times.
