This is the style “Z” car my Mom had.

I would love to find one to keep in her honor.

I remembered a few details about Mom’s car.  It didn’t have turbo but something was installed that would kick in at 3000 RPM.  Once it kicked in the car literally got a huge boost in power.  It also had the usual clutch fan driven by the engine belts to help keep the engine cool but it also had an electric cooling system that would cool the engine even with car turned completely off.  I don’t know if either of those were on other 280ZX cars or not. And if either or those failed her car would not run.

  2. I got my first 7800 probably about 1990.  I still can’t remember exactly when I got the darned thing but I know I already had a NES with over 50 games.  My story to my receiving a 7800 is here somewhere.

Anywho my first games were arcade ports with the exception of Ballblazer.  That included Ms. Pac-Man, Centipede, Galaga, Xevious, Joust, Asteroids, Food Fight.  What I got it the 7800 that Christmas included a bunch of games for it marked way down.  And I spent a lot of time on it.

Today I have a rather large 7800 library I honestly never intended to have.  Jinks is a top favorite coming in second behind Asteroids. I prefer Commando on the 7800 over the NES version as it is more colorful and more faithful to the arcade.  Tower Toppler I find fun, my favorite port of Donkey Kong is on the 7800, and I would classify Super Skateboarding a hidden gem.

All of my 7800 games except for Super Skateboarding are published by Atari.

That is my favorite of the ones you've posted so far.  I also would LOVE one of those.

The one Mom had would fly! She loved it.  She cried when she sold it. She broke the needle on the speedometer one time when we were driving from Arkansas to Missouri because it pegged at 80-85 and she was going faster than that to get away from some idiot getting right on her bumper. No matter what she tried they were like right there.  So she grabbed third and floored it. I loved that car.  Yea…they fly.  I can vouch for that.  I miss her.

I am so drawn to those little vans and trucks for some reason.

I had the chance to buy a really nice early 2000's Celica GT a couple of years ago, but decided not to (similar to the picture below).  It was a color I wasn't fond of (white) and also an automatic (manual would be more idea).  Honestly, I have trouble justifying a "play" car like that.  But it was in great condition.  I've also seen a few really nice older 70's and 80's Toyotas that I've given serious consideration to.  But I really hesitate with anything that uses a carburator and vacuum hoses.  My first car was a 77 Toyota, and I loved it.  But I also must constantly remind myself how difficult it could be to keep it tuned well, and how difficult it could be to start in bad weather.

I suppose if I had the time, it would be a lot of fun to do a fuel injection mod on an old Toyota.

I thought Toys like the MR2 has fuel injection. Wait…you said old. Never mind 🧐

  5. I’m enjoying this. I hope we can keep it going.  I don’t care where the cars people post come from…it is interesting to see vehicles others like.

With that said, fans of the show might be of some help.  We all know K.I.T.T. was Trans Ams and Firebirds.  But what car was Devon in?  I can’t remember if it was a Bentley or a Rolls.

I always found the Facel Vega quite fascinating. There were two generations that were in my mind distinct. It's not so far east that it's from Japan, just France:

France is still afar in my book.

I like the looks of the second image even though all that appears to be different are the headlights.  Cool looking car.  It even says “excellence”.

Post what you find you like.  I mean, seriously.  I know while we were all playing Atari at some point we dreamed about our favorite cars and trucks.  So  it’s show and tell time.

I just post Japanese cars because of how very different the cars and trucks there are treated compared to here.  Unlike here, however, if I read it right, taxes increase a bit in Japan once a vehicle reaches 10 years of age. They also will not let you own a car if you don’t own or rent a parking spot close to your residence.

Did you know China still makes the Cavalier?

  7. Ok.  Last one for me.  I’m not sure but this…

    IMG_1907.jpeg.7ef3b691b98da4b02b4bff677ba8fbdb.jpeg

is a Sunny but almost looks like a Sentra to me.  Only 6,000 km on it.  I take it Japanese don’t go far?  Also…they believe in starving their cars apparently.  Almost everyone I’ve looked at the gas gauge is on empty.
