I think even with Tommy as the perceived figurehead for the Amico, he's not the only person working on it, and things could've gone much differently had there been a more competent team behind the scenes.

I understand he's not the only person working on it. But he did purchase the Intellivision brand at the beginning of the Amico. I don't know if he still owns it now or not. Since the Amico having trouble not coming to "life" I really haven't heard of him since. It's almost like he's disappeared. And while he might not have worked on it personally he was the spokesperson for the system. He knew what was going on.  He might have had big plans for the system as far as specs go but I often wonder if it came down to what he was after just really was way beyond what was available at the price point they were going to try to sell the Amico for.

I've been out of the loop for a long time and I really haven't kept up with it. I'm not saying the product isn't cool because I thought the styling of the console was really neat. But it's been how long now?? And still nothing.  Just a bunch of words and showing of games.  I've not seen the hardware in a functioning form and if there is one it's probably the only one. I just don't see the Amico actually doing anything.  And if/when it does come out it's already going to be a retro console. I don't have any hopes for it.

I also feel that this whole Amico thing has sort of killed the IntelliVision brand name.  I have got about 30 INTV games here without a console. I can't even get rid of them for a $1 a game.  I'm not sure if that is due to the Amico or not.  Most likely not...but that's what it seems like.

  2. Not that it matters but I just got an email from Intellivision. Sounds like more BS to me.

There was a time when I had high hopes for the Amico. But I soon realized how much of a bullshitter Tommy was becoming. He was always dancing around questions investors were asking. Never a direct answer about how soon the Amico was to be ready for release. But he would answer questions about what games were coming to it.

I do place some of the blame of it failing on the pandemic. With it shutting down damn near the whole world it would have made it difficult to obtain the parts required to make it. But that’s over now.

I have lost all interest in it. I’m glad I didn’t invest in it. I’m good with the VCS.

  3. It is a really neat system.  It needs more original games made for it.  Not for the 2600, not for the 7800, but for it as it was made to do.  Not that I mind seeing 2600 and 7800 games and homebrews on it...I'd just like to see something original and only available on it.  I reached out to Atari via email and told them some suggestions. The response I got was they would pass the ideas along.

  4. Today I thought I would dig into Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3. So far I have not seen a track I thought was in the game that had a huge left curve going downhill and under itself.  Maybe I dreamed it?

Nevertheless I’m enjoying it but a bit sad that I missed out on its online features. My favorite car so far?

Best Attempt Award goes to @Atari 5200 Guy who tried his best to participate in our Berzerk Enhanced Challenge, despite being sent a bum cart and going through a very difficult month. It means a lot that you’re still with us and that you tried to join in. You have lots of friends here who care about you.

Thank you @Justin and everyone here. 2024 has already started out on a bad foot for me but I will be ok. It’s going to take me a while but I will get through this. I have to. You guys need me.  Thank you all for the kind words. I deeply appreciate it.

Alright! Midnight Magic!! I’ll be there. Best video pinball game ever made.

  6. I found this by our dumpster a while back but never figured out what to do with it…

But tonight I figured it out. I have a few console models where I have duplicate machines. It didn’t take me long to figure out which one I wanted to setup.

Tada!  Instant Atari fun! And it has small shelves on the sides, too!

Although one small shelf was missing. I couldn’t find it but maybe someday I can make one.

So the 5200 has a permanent place now along side the Junior model. I only have one 5200 console but it needed a permanent home. I know constantly hooking and removing it every time I wanted to play was not helping it.

Ok, enough talk. I’m going to go play Atari today. You should do the same. It’s good for your mental health.

Other ideas for you or any other youtubers here....I'd love to see more "how to" videos for difficult games.  Not a complete walk through, but "how-to" do those parts that aren't easy.  For example, landing the plane in NES Top Gun, or getting a turbo-bump start in SNES F-Zero.

Hmm. That’s one I have a hard time with myself. Any other games you can think of you are having issues with that I might have and can try?
