That's nice!  Another arcade saved from sudden doom.  Nice work.  I keep hoping I'll run across my favorite cab to restore someday but I haven't found one yet.

You're welcome.  Must have been during the early NES days before the Start button became the standard for pausing in most games to follow.  Makes sense if you are playing it on the Famicom since those controllers are always connected.  Not so good on a U.S. console considering we were lucky to even have one controller.  That still stands in retro gaming.  Those things are not cheap to come by these days.

The original XBOX made it, too.  Two great consoles that deserve it.  One invented the game industry, the other changed the rules.  Pretty cool.

The 7800 is a very flexible system.  It's not limited to the processors it has been given (6502, TIA, MARIA, RIOT).  It's memory can be expanded upon through the cartridge as can it's sound abilities.  I'm betting if more time was taken that cartridge slot could also handle an additional CPU to work along side the 6502.  The 7800 is limited only by the imagination and willingness of the person developing for it.  And I also bet that, with a little bit of reworking, the 7800's sound abilities and expansions could handle a different sound processor besides POKEY.
The SNES is an OK system but still suffers from some slowdown issues on some games when too much is going on onscreen at one time...something the 7800 doesn't have a problem with.  The original Top Gear is my favorite.  Spent a lot of hours on that one.

I have to agree that today's console wars are not as exciting as they were when our generation was growing.  Truth be told those console wars are probably why we have gray hairs and aches and pains today.  As I already mentioned in a comment on your video the first console war I remember well was between an old school friend and myself.  His 2600 vs my 5200.  Granted my games looked better but his was getting better third party support.  Once he played that card where his system was getting games mine wasn't he pretty much hit the nail on the head.  Yea I got a better looking Pac-Man but he was getting Enduro, Atlantis, Tutankham, Yar's Revenge...things like that.  Even after the game crash the 2600 continued to get software, the 5200 became a has-been.  I still say the 5200 did things somewhat better but its all about the games and that's where the 2600 remains the king.

Well, I stand corrected.  Press A on controller 2 to pause the game.  Weird setup for a pause button.

Dang it.  I had 50,490 points but my web cam was too slow to catch the photo because of it's 3, 2, 1, count down.  And I can't remove that feature for whatever reason.

I've noticed if you don't crash before the timer on the lower right reaches zero you will gain an extra life.  Otherwise you have to wait until you get 30,000 points for that extra life.  If you can get an extra life both times that two extra lives.
I agree with Justin...take your time, control your speed, watch out for baddies (blast 'em when you can!), get in those trucks, avoid helicopter drops, cracks, and other cars.
Yea.  Sunsoft's early NES titles had poor manuals.  They didn't detail the games very well.  They improved on that by the time Blaster Master and others to follow were released.  Platoon's manual was of no help at all.  Best Sunsoft games in my opinion are Blaster Master, Journey To Silius, and Fester's Quest.  Although those games are probably the toughest games they ever released.  Fester's Quest was a pain in the butt.  I never could get far in Silius but loved the music so I kept trying.  Blaster Master I could get to the end but only one time did I actually beat the game.  Never played it since but it still remains one of my favorites.  Spy Hunter is OK, not a favorite, and the manual could have done better explaining the game.

The only few I would suggest is maybe Space Invaders, Moon Patrol.  Jr. Pac-Man was an unreleased prototype that appears to have been either completed or almost completed.  It has been released on cartridge by Video 61.  I recommend it.  As far as official stuff goes Lode Runner for the XE works on the 800 XL and is a fun game.  Pretty much anything that was on the 5200 which also appeared on the A8 computers will be a good game.  I don't have many cart games for my XEGS as I concentrate mostly on the disk stuff because I'm after Microprose games to play.
Most PB and Activision games you can find that you don't already have will be a hit.  Dreadnaught Factor I believe is on the A8 and I hear it's a hidden gem of a game.  Gyruss.  Gotta find Gyruss.

Homeowner's insurance is suppose to cover everything, EVERYTHING, in the house at the time of disaster.  That includes your game collection.  I'd fight them for the remaining amount of what your collection is worth based on current values it would take to replace them even if it means taking them to court.  I'd take the time to seriously sit down and read your insurance policy and see what it says is covered.  If they are allowing the replacement of electronic items like TVs and such then video games are included as well because those are electronics.
Print out your collection at RF Generation then go to Price Charting and get an average value of every single item on your list and write it beside each item on that printed list.  Then I would seek out some kind of legal advice, one that is free or very cheap to make sure you have a case.  You may have to get firm, in a polite way, to get the remaining value of your collection.  Insurance companies always try to get away with as little as possible because they never want to pay any more than they have to.
I'm not trying to start a ruff but something just doesn't sound right about your insurance.  I'm glad you got $70k.  That's a plus.  And it really is more important that you and your family are all out alive.

Well...this looks nice, too.  But I'd have to change the wheels.  I was something more muscle looking...not import tuner like.

Not mine but similar color.  Same body style less the ground effects.  Mine is also not lowered.  I'd like to know where they found the weatherstripping and other black accents?  I'd have to keep the Chrysler emblem on the front, though.  I'd have to use these wheels on mine if I can find them in 14"

Sorry for your loss.  I'd be upset as well.  You still have your life which is more valuable than any game or console is worth.  I know it may not seem the same but whatever you get can replace those and add new stories on top of old stories.  List here what systems you had.  I'll see what I can dig up.  I know its heartbreaking...but EVERYBODY needs a little Pac-Man and ET in their lives.  Not trying to be, what's the word, insensitive or anything but honestly, you can really only go up from here.
Others are right.  Get with your insurance company, take whatever pictures you have of your collection for proof with you, and see what all is covered.  Once you start getting them again setup an account at RF Generation and start keeping track of your collection for insurance purposes.  It can be a pain to find the right title but keeping track like that is proof for insurance claims.  Then take pictures of what you get as you get them.  Some insurance companies will keep records of that stuff if you take them copies of the photos and a complete list.  Thats what i do just for Renters Insurance.

I figured it out!  The color theme.  Metallic black, glossy, with a chrome stripe all the way around.  In the style of the 2600 Junior, 5200, and 7800 consoles.  That'd work for me.  American Racing wheels are what I'd go with.
There's a small cubby hole I use for setting my cellphone in while driving.  I can turn that into a playable 2600 or just mount a 2600 on the floorboard under the dash.  Or convert the glove box into a small entertainment center with a 2600 Junior and DVD/Monitor unit.  Not sure how to set it up yet but the sound could be patched to go through the stereo system with it's AUX IN plugs.  I have an older Sony portable DVD player that I can patch a video and audio signals to so I can use that for somewhat of a 2600 screen.
