I will post his worknotes. He was doing almost everything except sound. Some notable specifics is Hover Strikes' smooth polygons. No warping. And apparently some mip mapping. Draw distance/rate isn't great and game itself isn't bery good but the textures are sharp.

I think one of Segas AM R&D depts were as big as all of Atari.

Great video I always enjoy your videos.

The floaty hovertank thing was I do believe actually intentional. The problem I think was that all of Atari's game designers came off of being operating system Developers. The 3D engine was designed by Eric Smith. You can actually go download this engine and assembler compile it and use it. While no you'll never get it to throws many polygons on the screen as a PlayStation or Saturn the engine used like I said is the Atari one and it's incredibly crappy overall.

You can see a bitching of its drawbacks here:

Atari had one guy(Eric Smith) doing most of their 3D research and development along with just a shitload of other things. He was stretched just way too thin.

LIB directory. This is Eric Smiths experimentation and working directories. Most of this stuff is available in the SDKs but some of it isn't.

its simply amazing how much atari dumped into hardware, yet did almost nothing game wise. when jack t. told me and bruce at b&c computervisions that atari was working on a jaguar 2 to make up for all of the mistakes on the jaguar 1, we asked him what about games, how about supporting the jaguar first before you plan on more hardware. it looks like he wanted more hardware.

he never understood that no matter how good the hardware was, you needed games, lots of games, games can be so so, good, nitch games, even great games, that's what it takes, a wide variety of games.

Luchs Soft is re-releasing a game for the Atari Lynx called Quadromania.  It will come on a curved lip cart with a manual, poster and pin in April this year. As if that weren't enogh, it will come packaged in a standard Atari Lynx game box so it matches other games in your collection. The game was made by Alex Thissen, with official permission by RPM Software.  It can be preordered at Luchs Soft's web page (link below).

My wife and I found a Netflix original series called The Crown, centered around Queen Elizabeth. We've only made it to the 7th episode of season one and word has it they are working on season 3. So far it has been a very interesting show. And John Lithgow, of Harry and the Henderson's/Footloose/3rd Rock fame, portrays Winston Churchill very well in this series.

Highly recommended to Atari I/O members with Netflix access. Thought I'd pass it along.

"Secretum Labyrinth Dark Castles" is a Role Playing Game for the Atari 8-bit, using my Adventure Role Playing Game programming that I started developing around 2011.   I have been optimizing the programming for drawing each screen to open up more room in the RAM to allow more stuff to happen. This game will feature stuff like currency and markets, spells, items to get past points in the game, and many other things. New music is being composed. A new and different interactive story is being worked on. The text you see in the video is of a real early draft. We need to keep this part a secret because there is some proprietary information in there that may be under copyright. We will reveal the final draft when the cartridge is ready.

The frwmerate drop is largely from a shitload of the 68k being used.

Jurassic Park SNES. I thought it was a great blend of outside over the top action and inside pseudo 3D adventure.
