  1. The Atari Lynx may have a small library, but it's a good one
  2. I should amend this to say that I have a Nintendo Switch and occasionally play games on there with my gf and family. Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening, and most likely soon Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Most all of those games are in the spirit of classic 8-bit and 16-bit games. The Switch gets used most to play NES and SNES games through the Nintendo OnLine service with an NES style controller. The new F-ZERO 99 is pretty incredible, and free!
  3. PCEWorks is having a Black Friday Sale with great discounts on many titles from their catalog of PC Engine, TurboGrafx and Duo games and beautiful box sets to add to your collection! Their Black Friday sale is running until Thursday, November 30th, this is a don't miss event for PC Engine and TurboGrafx aficionados 🙂
  4. I totally relate to this. With the exception of the VCS I can't remember the last time I played a "modern" game. Literally a few years I think. Turbo Duo and Jaguar are about as modern as I get.
  5. The interesting thing is, even with the new Atari protecting their trademarks, that doesn't necessarily mean Songbird has to create a new logo for their Jaguar and Lynx cartridges. It can still have the box art on the cartridge label and simply say "Compatible with Atari Jaguar interactive multimedia video game systems" etc.
  6. In the United States, having the word "Atari Jaguar" on a good pertaining to a video game console is enough for Atari to need to protect, aside from the design of the logo itself. It's possible the Jaguar logo is also being applied for but may not be necessary. A deeper search could show more.
  7. Likewise, many other Atari trademarks have recently been applied for: Atari 2600 https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=97770430&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari 5200 https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98135319&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari 7800 https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98135300&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari Lynx https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=90681899&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari 400 https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98135267&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari 800 https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=98146971&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch Atari VCS https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=88072195&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch No results found for "Atari XL" or "Atari XE"
  8. Yes, In the United States, the "ATARI JAGUAR" trademark is Live once again for section 028 Goods and Services, namely Video game consoles, with the applicant Atari Interactive, Inc. having filed for the trademark on May 3, 2021 and published for opposition on December 14, 2021. Previously, the trademark had been filed on April 20, 1992, published for opposition on November 23, 1993 and abandoned on September 12, 1996. https://tsdr.uspto.gov/#caseNumber=74267605&caseType=SERIAL_NO&searchType=statusSearch
  9. To be fair, Microsoft launched Xbox 360 on this week in 2005, so they've been providing support for the system for 18 years.
  10. NOTE: I edited the title of this thread to reflect the artist's name Terry Hoff - as not to become confused with Intel and Atari's Marcian "Ted" Hoff who is not an artist, but rather one of the inventors of the Microprocessor 🧠
  11. I was going to say this yesterday looking at Mr. Run and Jump, and Berzerk - it's so strange looking at classic Atari packaging and seeing an ESRB rating labeled on the front. That always hits me as a little surreal.
  12. Totally appropriate, this website was partially built sitting in Disney at lunch. Let’s share the best deals we find out there, with each other in the forums ☺️
  13. Vectrex is so cool. I wish I had picked one up years ago.
  14. I feel like they need an Atari historian with a background in graphic art advising their box and label designs. Tim Lapetino would be ideal, if not someone from original Atari themselves.
  15. I think a comparison of the Mr. Run and Jump box in between the 1986 red Atari 2600 cartridge boxes would be fitting.
  16. If you were talking to someone thinking about getting into 8-bit computing, what things would you tell them about the Atari 8-bit computers when explaining why you loved it and still do?
  17. Are there any good Black Friday deals coming up that the rest of us might find interesting?
  18. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (and most ALL Star Trek Movies!) $4.99 on iTunes (Lowest price!) https://www.cheapcharts.info/us/itunes/movies/208510932/Star-Trek-II-The-Wrath-of-Khan
  19. I wish they would develop new and interesting games that we don't already have.
  20. The Atari XE cartridges with the handles on the back remind me of the Atari Lynx cartridges with the ridges on the back. Not the curved lip game cards like most Lynx games, but the ones with the handles that stick out at a 90 degree angle. I feel like those would've been in production at the same time.
  21. The strange thing was Regan Cheng was asked NOT to include end labels in his design proposals for the Atari 5200 cartridges. He included two designs with end labels anyway, and they were rejected. I don't know what the reasoning was.
  22. It's interesting how there are so many discussions about Jack Tramiel and Nolan Bushnell but hardly any about Steve Ross, who had the most impact on what Atari became.
