  1. You know you're in the Christmas spirit when you're watching different adaptations of "Scrooge" throughout the week. Yesterday, the George C. Scott version. Today, the Jim Carrey version. I'm all excited.

Oooh. That is one my Grandmother and I would watch after Emmitt Otter's Jug Band Christmas...on CED. Then we'd watch the other on VHS of course. Great holiday shows!

you should watch a Mickeys Christmas Carol, It has Scrouge Mickduck as Scrooge and Mickey as Bob Cratchit, It was pretty good, but it was only 30 minutes long.

I've seen it. It's a little too rushed for my tastes, though it is a good way to introduce th story to children.

  2. That moment when you're binge-watching the first two seasons of "Thomas the Tank Engine," and you realize you're watching a show aimed at you children. And yet, I still can't stop watching it, 'cause it's so good. At least the first two seasons.

Haha. I remember that Thomas theme song. I was actually lucky (being born in 1997) to actually have some VHS tapes of episodes from the first two seasons (which were from the eighties), as well as renting episodes from the first two seasons from the library. Although I saw the newer episodes on TV all the time as a kid, I don't remember the plots of them at all, because they just weren't as good. No one beats Ringo Starr as the narrator, and nothing beats the original theme song from...

...the first few seasons. And of course the combination of animatronics and stop-motion beats the modern CGI episodes any day (not that there's anything wrong with CGI of course).

Though of course this is all just my opinion, as I know a lot of people that enjoy every Thomas episode ever made, and I don't really see why they can't enjoy them, as the newer episodes aren't bad by any means.

  3. My brother is coming home for a few days. It will be great to see him again.

  4. I'm 20 years old today, and I'm still young at heart.

  5. I was streaming myself trying to play the ZX Spectrum Hobbit game earlier today. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W96eru3eQgU

It went pretty well until I realized I was carrying too many items. Since stopping the stream I figured it out, only to return to the Hobbit hole to find out "the hall is too full for you to enter." I have no idea how to fix that problem, so I'm so close to putting the treasure in the chest and ending the game, and yet I can't. Really funny game.

The best part is Thorin randomly stopping to sing about gold every five minutes.

I like how you can actually kill Gollum in the game. There goes the plot of LOTR. Haha.

  6. I got a new computer as a present! Now I don't have to do everything on my iPad!

  7. Well, the WiFi router shorted out during a thunderstorm, so I've been gone awhile, but I'm back now.

Did you have that on a surge suppressor? Or did the surge suppressor fail?

I don't know. It apparently came through the phone line it was connected to. I don't think we have any surge suppressors.

  8. So, something funny happened yesterday. You see, I always wondered how it would feel purchasing an R-rated movie. I've been old enough to purchase them for a few years now, but I never have, and I always wondered if it would feel strange to a young guy purchasing a movie rated R. So, yesterday, me and a bunch of other people at my college went to Walmart, and I noticed the extended versions of all three Hobbit moves sitting on a shelf in the DVD section, each costing about twenty dollars....

    1. atarifan95

      atarifan95

... Now normally, the extended versions cost much much more, so I couldn't pass up this opportunity, and I purchased them. When I got back to my dorm, I remembered something I had completely forgotten about; the extended version of the third film is rated R. So, I ended up purchasing my first R-rated movie without even realizing it. I had a good laugh about it for the rest of the day.

My first rated R movie was Silent Scream (1979). I had no idea what I was watching lol

  9. Happy 4th of July everyone!

  10. Holy cow! "The Secret Garden" is on Netflix! Well, I know what I'm watching tonight now.

wow. Awesome movie. Haven't seen that one in ages.

  11. I finally got around to ordering paddle controllers. It was so great being able to use them for the first time. And I'll tell you, Breakout is so much more fun with paddles than with joysticks.

    1. Gianna

      Gianna

Yes, I agree! I only play Breakout with the paddles 🙂

  12. 90% percent of time a change is made to a website, I say "the old version was better." This new design is part of the 10% where I don't feel that way. Good job on the new design.

THANK YOU atarifan95! Working hard to get this right. Hope you'll join us in the chatroom :invader:

  13. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, the new year starts in September rather than January. That's just the time that everything feels fresh. Here's a new video game Let's Play for y'all:

  14. For Christmas, I have done a let's play of Home Alone for the Sega Genesis.

I got this game as a gift! Thanks for showing me how to play.

  15. Oh boy. I just bought my first DVD copy of the original Miracle on 34th Street (I only have the remake on DVD, though I have seen and prefer the original), and I get back to my college dorm and put it in my computer to discover that it's been colorized (very badly too). Good thing I know how to fan edit films, so I can just turn the color off with Windows Movie Maker.

    1. RickR

      RickR

I agree with you...colorization can be very creepy.

  16. Back at college, and I've already met some people who love Halo 2600. Also, my Sonic 3 Let's Play should finish uploading in a day or two.

  17. Not related to games, but I thought that some of the Willy Wonka fans on here might want to see the commentary of the Gene Wilder film that my brother and I did recently. We couldn't actually show the entire movie because of copyrignt, so you have to play your own copy simultaneously, and the video provides clips every ten minutes or so to make sure you are synced up correctly.

    1. atarifan95

      atarifan95

Just a little warning; Although this is intended to be a positive review of the film, my brother and I do not regard this film as sacred, and therefore make quite a few jokes about some of the little things that we didn't like about it. So if you consider this to be an absolutely perfect film with no flaws whatsoever, this is not the video for you. There is also a bit of profanity (though nothing too bad). Most viewers should be okay. PG review.

  18. Found the old 60's Batman movie on Netflix a little while ago. So funny.

      Rowsdower70

Its great, campy fun! You should see the 1940's serials of Batman.

  19. I saw the newspaper a few hours ago. Turns out those tornadoes we had a few weeks ago over here damaged about thirty-five homes. That's sad.

    1. RickR

      RickR

It sucks. Hopefully no one was hurt.

  20. After years of putting up with it, I have decided to debunk the "Hanging Munchkin" urban legend once and for all.

  21. That moment where I'm trying to figure out some way at all (though I doubt there is one) to play Blu Ray on PC without having to buy external hardware, because I could only find Adventures in Babysitting on BluRay, and I do not have a BluRay player at college. Oh well. Guess I'll just have to wait till I get home.

  22. I was searching the five-dollar DVD bin at Walmart, and found Back to the Future. I said to myself, "What the heck? This movie is worth more than that!" But of course I didn't pass up the opportunity to buy it for that little.

  23. And now Stan Lee died. Writer of many Marvel heroes including my favorite, Spider-Man. Sad days indeed.

  24. RIP Alan Merrill, the writer and lead singer of the original version of I Love Rock 'n Roll.

  25. Playing Sonic CD for the first time. Quite a trippy game. Really fun though. (Edit: Just beat it. Unfortunately didn't manage to get the good ending. Stardust Speedway is confusing, and Metallic Madness is a pain. Also, the race against Metal Sonic is very unforgiving. But a very fun game regardless. Surprised it took me so long to play it.)
