I read that Hyperkin is working on a system called the RetroN77. A system to play 2600 games (hopefully 7800 too) for modern setups.
 
This is cool, I BEGGED them many times to do so. Even made a video about it. 
 
This is too cool, what a fantastic week for Atari lovers!!!!!

I am a big fan of Atari and not just Atari. I am also a fan of Chuck E. Cheese's, Creative Engineering, Microsoft, Apple, 90's Nickelodeon, Furby, Retro Video Games, Nintendo and Sega. Now enough of me talking about my interests. I'll tell you how I got into Atari. When I was younger going into Walmart and looking at all the cool games out there really interested me. I found an Atari Flashback in the game section and I knew it was something my dad would bring up sometimes. One day I asked my dad what it was like playing with Atari and he said it was great. He had a full collection of games and one Atari 8 Bit computer that he used for years. When the NES came out he was never a big fan of it and he ended up getting the XE instead. Lot's of years went buy and he started to loose interest but never completely got rid of his collection. He says it might still be left in his parent's house in New York and we might try looking for it this summer. My other interests will also take time to explain so I just chose Atari for today.

I got this on email today and I'm curious as to what it is.  Looks like Atari has some new piece of hardware being released.  It's anyone's guess as to what this will be.  I doubt it'll be a console but looks like they are trying to emulate the design of the 2600.

LOL, it better not be!  Though the folks from AtGames have said this is supposed to be a modern system that has nothing to do with them.

I think we always had a feeling that we were waiting for the other shoe to drop with the Coleco Chameleon, but it's been a year. Everybody seemed to give "Coleco" the benefit of the doubt. I don't think a year ago anybody would've expected this.
 
 
 
Thank you. I have tremendous respect for the homebrew community. I think we're going to do a "homebrew appreciation week" to celebrate these guys and their games. It's important to look past the handful of disappointments and appreciate the breadth of incredible games that the homebrew community has given us over the past 15 years. When I first started collecting classic games in 1993 I thought we were at the end of the line, that no new games would be coming out for these systems. Turns out we've seen some of the best games for these systems come out in just the past few years.
 
 
 
Sadly that always seems to be the case! It would have been a smarter move for Atari to work with Jeff Minter on making TxK an officially licensed product.

Many of our members are active on AtariAge and are also Coleco enthusiasts. The ColecoVision community has set a high water mark for classic gaming at its best. Just one example of this community is Eduardo Mello of OpCode Games who has done an outstanding job with bringing his projects to fruition. Eduardo has been a personal hero of mine for well over a decade, and in my opinion he's really hit it out of the park demonstrating a level of innovation and top shelf quality that can be done in homebrewing. Seeing what other classic gamers have done is inspiring. It's pushed me to go farther, try harder, and make everything I'm working on even better than I thought possible. This is exactly the sort of passion needed for classic gaming to thrive, and those who dedicate themselves to creating "new things for old toys" should be lauded for their endeavors. This might be a nice time to drop Eduardo a line, or any one of your favorite homebrewers, just to say thanks for all that they do.
