peteym5 got a reaction from MalakZero in Delta Space Arena Deluxe Edition
I would like to make an official announcement for the re-release for Delta Space Arena Deluxe edition for the Atari 8-bit. It is essentially an enhanced version of Omega Race (aka DeltaRace). I did want to showcase the ability of the Atari 8-bit computer over that of versions of Omega Race on Commodore 64, Vic-20, Atari 2600, and the Arcade version. The game is more colorful, each level has a different design for the Arena. Some additional enemies. It works on any standard unmodified Atari 8-bit. I cannot guarantee it will work with certain hardware mods. The cartridge is now available from Atari Sales (video 61) for $39.95. The game will also be available for the Atari 5200.
The Deluxe edition was made after receiving some requests for games that can make use of the Indy 500 controller. I decided to make that an option, along with the ability to use paddles, trackball. The default controller at start up is still joystick. You will need to press OPTION when the start splash screen is up to change the controller.  There were never any glitches or bugs reported with the original version of the game so this version plays essentially the same with the exception of using a different controller. Some sound effects were changed, a background drum beat can be heard every few seconds, and a short tune is played an the end of each level. The "Fuzzies" or "Static" on the right side of the screen had been reduced to one pixel for those who play Atari games on modern displays. This is done by activating the HSCROLL bit in the display list and setting the HSCROL to 1. The cartridge will have a new label similar to Atari Silver label with the rainbow color strip.
I would like to keep this in the 8-bit section to answer questions and provide wide spread support. Since this game can receive input from four different controllers, I anticipate questions. One thing I did similar to the Commodore version of Omega race was when using a paddle, you need to hold down the fire button for a second for thrust, this also applies to the driving controller.

"Secretum Labyrinth Dark Castles" is a Role Playing Game for the Atari 8-bit, using my Adventure Role Playing Game programming that I started developing around 2011.   I have been optimizing the programming for drawing each screen to open up more room in the RAM to allow more stuff to happen. This game will feature stuff like currency and markets, spells, items to get past points in the game, and many other things. New music is being composed. A new and different interactive story is being worked on. The text you see in the video is of a real early draft. We need to keep this part a secret because there is some proprietary information in there that may be under copyright. We will reveal the final draft when the cartridge is ready.

Secretum Labyrinth King's Gold is a freeware game that is part of the game series. The rest of the games are sold on cartridge. In a way it is demoware or betaware. I use it test out new updates let people look at them to see how some things behave on their hardware. Get some feedback on how I may improve the game. I know "King's Gold" does not do as much as the cartridge games since they use large bank switching cartridges.

    In this update:
The option to turn background off, totally makes the background black once again. After doing the update that draws the pattern with the pixels further spaced apart, the routine did not check if the player wanted the backgrounds off. Once the backgrounds are black, the only way to bring them back is to reboot dos and load the game again. Pressing Start no longer sends you back to the Title Splash Screen, pressing Select or Option does this.  That glitch when you die and go to that screen stating Start to Continue, Select to End. The Purple Background should remain there now. You will not have any weapons until you find them now. SLKG_EN_20180311.zip

I added weapons that have advantages and disadvantages. Bow and Arrow have a delay simulating how an actual archer will need to put a new arrow in his bow and aim it.

peteym5 got a reaction from TrekMD in HeliCommander. Arcade like Choplifter coming soon to the Atari 8-bit

I am working on some tweaks, updates, and late bug corrections.  I slightly altered the color palette for the clouds, which everyone who seen it before I posted it here stated it looks much better and more realistic based on the limits we have for the Atari. When the Helicopter is at the bottom, it is now landed and cannot move horizontally. You need to be landed to be able to rescue people from the ground. I added some beginning and end level short tunes, and the sound effect for extra life had been replaced with an actual music piece.

Now adding stuff like music is a work in progress. Since I see many people here are eager for the release of the game, I am going to limit what I am going to modify. See what I can do in the next few weeks. I did open up some space on the cartridge so I can add the sound effects routine that supports short music tunes.

Here are some work in progress screen shots for Venture on the Atari 7800 I have the first 3 map screens put together. I am planning to make this more like the arcade verses the 2600, Coleco, Intellivision, or even my 8-bit/5200 version. It may have several modes, default being arcade, other modes being home console, 8-bit challenger mode, and 7800 challenger mode. The issue I had with the 8-bit version was I could only dedicate 6 sprites for the enemies inside of each room. 7800 that can be extended to 8 or 10 maybe, or have something else like flames or energy bolts bouncing between walls. Many ideals are being considered.

Here are some more work in progress screen shots for Venture. I am starting to work on the individual dungeon rooms where you need to go in and get the treasures. I am sure I can make things multicolored at 160 resolution.
