@socrates63, I know who to call if I need someone to land on the roof of the building and make his way down to the parking garage to pick up a BMW.

    Jokes aside, GREAT SCORE.

Thanks @MaliciousCarp and it was a score I couldn't duplicate. Closest I got to it again was 46k or 47k.

    Congratulations Socrates63!

Congratulations to @socrates63 on his second win in a row and for becoming our first MAME Champion! We had solid turnout and real spirit for our first MAME Squad Challenge, I want to thank everyone for doing whatever you had to do to participate! Some of you are MAME experts, others learned on the fly. There was a lot of help in these forums going back-and-forth to help get people get set up and going on MAME, it's really awesome to see you guys coming together like that.
@socrates63 is our champion for this Squad Challenge, taking the top spot in our Final Standings to claim 1st Place with 53,850 points. What an achievement! @nosweargamer was ferocious with his elevator action and takes 2nd Place with 30,150 Points. @btbfilms76 came in with a strong showing to take our 3rd spot on the board with 19,550 points. @MaliciousCarp was hot on BTB's tail, and @DegasElite @RickR and @HDN round out the board all with their best scores! Congratulations to @socrates63 for his big win, and as always I'd like to encourage Sabertooth to post his new high score on the Scoreboard, and let's make sure this Challenge continues on!
Also, we're closing in on the home stretch for BTB's Atari 7800 Paddle Controllers Giveaway! IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO ENTER! We'll be having our 7800 Paddles Giveaway and announcing a winner on December 1st. To keep a running list of who's entered into BTB's Atari 7800 Paddle Controllers Giveaway Contest, so far the following Members have asked to be entered and are permanently enrolled through the rest of the contest: @RickR @Sabertooth @nosweargamer @TrekMD @socrates63 @HDN @Atari Creep. So can we all agree that crushing an enemy by elevator is just as horrifying as blowing up an enemy with air in Dig Dug?

Exactly my case for 4 Wii's I've come across so far.  They make fine emulation stations.

    10,000 points for bonus
    What about number of lives?
    And difficulty level?

I need to start adopting British insults.  In a recent video, YouTuber Atomic Shrimp called someone a "Silly old sausage".  I added that one to my arsenal right away!

Here is my first go that is worth posting - I am playing on the PS4 Arcade Archives because I was having some trouble with MAME.
    19250

(As far as I can tell - Hamster does use original roms when creating their arcade archives games)

Thats' awesome!  I did the letterbomb mod on my regular wii because the optical drive went kaput, but I have not modded my WiiU yet.
I am very interested to see the DSi mod if/when you do it - I have not modded any of my DS consoles, but I would love to get my 3DS "unlocked".  I have been kind of chicken to do it because I actually have a lot of digital games from the 3ds store that I don't want to risk losing.

I plan on doing my DSi because 1. The SD on it is easily accessible and regular-sized, 2. You don’t need a Flashcart, and 3. There is very little risk of bricking the system, from what I’ve read at least.
I’m too chicken to touch my 3DS as well. With the N3DS, the micro SD is underneath the back panel of the system. That thing is super worn out. I’m afraid it won’t go back on. I haven’t tried taking it off since last year when what I just described was very close to actually happening.
I didn’t mod the Wii U part of the system... yet. All I did was mod the vWii part of it. For those who don’t know, the Wii U comes in two parts. There’s the normal Wii U system menu, but there’s also a fully-fledged Wii menu as well. So far, I have only modded the OG Wii part. That thing was completely barren, so no real risks. Plus, I could just reuse the stuff from the original Wii and copy it to a new SD card.

Just once, I wanted to break 10,000. But I think 9850 is the best I’m going to get tonight.
A childhood favorite revisited. This game kicked my ass, but I had a blast playing it. I’m also pretty happy about getting MAME finally set up.
I think I’m going to continue playing after this challenge is over. I look foreword to our next one! I’m ready to emulate whatever I face! Unless it’s VIC-20...
This game was played on my newly-modded Wii U system!

In addition to the games mentioned by both @RickR and @MaliciousCarp, I would add Archon to the list. I wasn't as big of a fan of Archon II but it's worth checking out. Summer Games II and Winter Games; Epyx really had a heck of run back in the 1980s. If you like adventure games, then check out The Bard's Tale. Infocom focused on text adventure games, including the Zork trilogy and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

I love the c64!  I have a c128 (which is the big brother, but fully backwards compatible)
My favorite games on the computer are (well, besides the ones that RickR mentioned):
Jumpman (and Jumpman Jr.) Space Taxi Bruce Lee River Raid (The c64 version blows the Atari 2600 version out of the water(... see what I did there??)) The hobbit (Text adventure! Seriously, I'll wait... (Time passes)) Those should give you a good idea of what the c64 classic library is like
There are also some great new games to check out (usually available on itch.io)
Neutron (and Santron, which is neutron with an xmas theme) Galencia (amazing Galaga clone) Zeta Wing (another vertical scrolling shooter)

Back in the day, you'd start a disk loading and go to the bathroom, get a snack, work on your homework, etc.  The Atari disk drive ran circles around the C64.  Interestingly, the C64 tape drive was a lot faster than the Atari tape drive.

You've got questions, I've got some ideas for your consideration:
What Commodore 64 games would you recommend I load onto my card and try out?
Here are my favorites:  Raid Over Bungelling Bay, Dr. J vs Larry Bird One on One, MULE, Summer Games, Bruce Lee, Boulderdash  Those should get you started.
Do you have any good BASIC games or programs I could type out that will be cool/fun and help me to understand the language better?
Find a copy of the manual that came with the C64 (or VIC-20).  It's excellent.  Beyond that, look for a "COMPUTE!" or "COMPUTE!'s Gazzette" magazine archive online and do those.  The problem with the Commodore computers is that the version of Microsoft BASIC included is very old and vanilla.  There are no graphics or sound commands included.  You end up typing in machine language data lists and then POKE/PEEK commands.  You will learn nothing from them.
What "computer" should I get next? What games should I try out for it?
The Atari 800XL is the cream of the 8-bit computer crop IMO.  It has a very good version of BASIC included.  Look for the same list of games as the C64 (no Raid over B-Bay, though).  Add in all your favorite arcade ports.  Ballblazer and Rescue on Fractalus are masterpieces.
Did they port Temple of Rom to any system besides the TRS-80?  Nope.  But look up the Apshai series.  Much better and more fun.
Would you like to see a "Harry's Adventures in Wii Hacking" thread?
    YES!  Sign me up now.
Can someone please help me stop pressing @ when I want a "?
Yes.  Skip the C64 and go straight to an Atari 800xl.

Well, I managed to save three of our old sets of Christmas lights.  I had to go through 900 lights to find the bad ones but, at the end, it was worth it.
