  1. Here's all the NES reviews I've done so far, from oldest to newest. I will try to update the thread as I make more. Enjoy! Ep 10: The Addam's Family
  2. Sticking with Atari arcade games that I've actually played in the wild, I would go with Star Wars too. However since that was already called for, I will also give three others I enjoyed as a kid. As some of you know, I didn't play a lot of arcades until the mid to late 80's. By then, most of the classic games were either gone or hidden in a back corner where they mostly went unnoticed. Also, several of these games may not have aged well, but at the time I thought they were the bee's knees. #3) Pit-Fighter: At the time of it's release, the big digitized characters were a sight to behold and the simple controls made it easy to get into. And who didn't like being fork lifted over a pile of cash at the end? #2) Indiana Jones & The Temple of Doom: The movie was a big deal among kids and the game gave us a chance to enter the same world thanks to decent graphics, digitized voices, mine car rides and off course your trusty whip. #1) Hard Drivin' (Sit down version of course!): Probably the first sit down game I played and I remember it costing more, probably 50 cents per play, but it was worth it. It split off into two tracks: A speed course and stunt course. But really, it was all about stunt track with the massive loop de loop. And don't forget to hit the cow to make it moo!
  3. Marketing. The SMS was HUGE in Europe due to marketing. But Sega allowed Tonka, the truck people, to market it and it failed. The early box art looked so bland compared to other systems. Nintendo kept many third party companies from making games on other system, like the SMS. The limited library. Again, places like Europe and Brazil enjoyed a much greater library (For instance MK never came to the US). And sadly, some of the best titles in America didn't show up until the final years of the system. It didn't play Super Mario. Super Mario basically revived the video game market alone and put NES systems in homes. Yes, other games like Zelda and Punch Out would later cement the dominance of the NES, but Super Mario was the foundation.

  11. I haven't been able to do lot of audio recording lately, but I did get a few moments to record this video. In it I summarize how the Retro VGS became a mess and 5 steps on how it can win gamers like myself back. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfZwNCLC0tU
  12. I believe so, but if you stay a while contributing to the forum, you may be able to get in on the next batch!
  13. Glad I could help you find this cool, little community!
  14. There are 3 power ups in the games that all work the same. They are the letters S, K and W. They stand for the 3 ingredients in Kool-Aid: (K)ool-Aid Mix (S)ugar (W)ater
  15. BTW, I laughed when the guy called his kitchen table the Retro VGS lab It doesn't bother me at all, but it is kinda funny that the 2 million dollar development of a system is taking place there! I appreciate all the kind words, Yo-Yo! I'm trying to be very level headed with this project. And actually, I may, in the near future, reveal how the Retro VGS could win me back.
  16. Recently I showed an Easter Egg for the Atari 2600 version of Kool-Aid Man and reviewed the games Commando (NES) and Crypts of Chaos (Atari 2600)
  17. AGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!! Can't they get their story straight!!!! It is really hard to trust a business that keeps changing the story. Just be straight and honest, or just be silent. BTW, I was following this project closely and didn't hear about the switch until the week of their Kickstarter launch. From Retro VGS FB: One last thing. I can address the quick move to IGG from KS. We were Kickstarter bound up until recently when I read a post in the RVGS NeoGaf thread posting the KS policies about having an "explicit" working demonstration of a prototype to run a hardware campaign. Now, up until then I have and had seen hardware projects on there without any showing or mention of a prototype so didn't know this was a "thing". I then called them on it at the last minute.... From this last update: #3: We didn’t switch to Indiegogo at the last minute. #4: We didn’t switch to Indiegogo because we didn’t have a working prototype.
