The 800 works!  I had an extra power supply (never throw out old parts!)  It just needs a nice thorough cleaning.  What a beauty.

Like I said before, despite MSRP, I think that will be the going rate at most big chains and cheaper with sales.

    A few notes:

    1) At Games (Atari licensed this, but isn't making it) reused the Sega design most likely due to cost. The extra buttons are for system switches and the like.
    2) It has been reported that while putting a cartridge slot for the Sega home system worked out, the cost is way to high for an Atari cartridge slot. Sorry
    3) You can pause!
    4) Frogger is a redone version of the game which will be more arcade like than 2600 like. I believe they did this with Space Invaders on previous systems.
    5) Don't read too much into to msrp. The other flashbacks have an msrp of 59.99, but retail for around $40. I expect these to be available at most retailers for $40-$50 with Holiday sales bringing them down to $25 -$35.
    6) You can play 2600 games off the SD card, unless they used a special chip like Pitfall II (and you do own the ROMS, right? )
    7) It has a TV out, but you need to have your own cable to use it.
    8) This will, for the most part, be very similar to the FB 6, except of course Frogger and they fact that there is a portable unit.

Please note that while we all would love 1,000 games, cartridge slot, better emulation, knob dials for paddle games, etc, we are in a way lucky just to get this. Companies need to make money off their products and most plug n plays no longer make enough profit to warrant their existence (That's why you won't see followups to the INTV and CV versions). In order for these products to be profitable, the costs need to be kept low and they need to appeal to the general consumer, not the hard core retro gamer. They are banking more on spontaneous Christmas gift purchases than the retro gaming community. Sad to say, but that's just the reality of it.

On a side note, I am happy this is coming out. I think the button layout will be fine! I find the layout TERRIBLE for Street Fighter 2 on the Sega due to the angel, but since system switches are rarely used, it should be fine here.

However, I may not get it, since I'm guessing I already own most of the games on the great DS compilations.

Willie did an outstanding job hosting Junk Box V, so I'm going to do my very best to live up to those standards with:

Here's how the Retro Junk Box works:

What It Is: Rowsdower fills a large USPS Priority Mail Flate Rate Box full of retro-related items and sends it to another member. They take out what they want, fill it back up and send it to the next person. It keeps going until it returns to the original sender.

History: Click Here For The Full History

Who Can Participate: This is open to members in good standing who have reached Orange Status* (or successful traders with at least 50 posts here), have been a registered Atari I/O member for at least 90 days, live in the US and have been active in the forums or chats during the last month. (See your Avatar to see the fruits you have earned).
    * Orange Status is mysteriously rewarded between 100 & 150 posts.

What is Required: Participants must send the box out within 3 days of getting it, pay for the postage to send it out ($18.75) and must post a photo or video of what they took out. (leave the rest as a mystery!)

Items Taken Out MUST Be Replaced With Items Of Equal Or Greater Value: The Retro Junk Box celebrates the generous and friendly spirit of the forums! Those who participate will be expected to contribute to the spirit of the Retro Junk Box, and must replenish the box with items of an equal or greater value than what they chose to take out.

Those who abuse the generosity of other participants will be denied the opportunity of participating again. Egregious violations will result in the offending member losing prize and event participation privileges, or worse, being removed from the site.

Other Notes: Since it is free to do so with Priority Mail, I would insure the box for $50 to help pay to fill another one in the unlikely event that the USPS ever lost it. Please keep the box mostly (at least 51%) gaming related. Newer items are ok if they are retro related in some way. Please try to be fair in what you replace value wise and please no duplicate games on the same system. Please avoid putting in broken items/games if possible.  Please use packing material to fill in nooks and crannies to prevent items from getting broken. (Plastic bags work well for this)

Feel free to reuse and decorate the box!

If you meet the requirements and agree to the terms, please let me know by responding to the thread along with what state you are located in so we can begin to order the list. DO NOT POST YOUR FULL ADDRESS HERE

Also, if you need to be on a certain spot on the list, because you won't be available later, let us know (for instance, if you are going on a trip or work assignment).

This is going to be a great time guys, so in addition to the regulars signing on....now would be a great time to get in your first Junk Box!

My plan is to have this shipped out the week of August 15th, 2016, so please sign up by  August 7th!

From RickR, a cleaned-up, awesome set of VCS paddles, perfect for playing Astroblast with!

And from chas10e, a super cool "Tom Boy" Taiwan Cooper box.  Come for the weird title and cover art, stay for the broken English game description on the back of the box!

    Thanks!
