  1. Thank you and same to you and everyone. Dinner here is at 5pm. I'm starting the turkey breast at 2pm or so. Mrs. R is working on mashed potatoes now. Kids are bringing a few side dishes. We are thankful for so much.
  2. Just to leave a more positive impression, the modern games I have tried, I've really enjoyed! I'll say the last one was XBOX 360 Hydro Thunder, which was really fun. It's got the same great gameplay I remember from Dreamcast but MUCH better graphics. The water looks so real, I want to go for a swim. It was a great game for me because it didn't demand too much time in learning or in playing a few rounds.
  3. Exactly! We also will spend the evenings watching a movie or catching up on whatever TV show we are streaming. Yesterday, I got off work a bit early due to the holiday with plans for a few rounds of Yars' or Tempest 2000, but alas, I had a really bad sinus headache and the best thing for me was just to sit quietly and watch some TV.
  4. Stellar Track for 2600! Well, I already owned a box and cart (both in really bad condition), which you can see in pic #1. That's my cart on the right. I purchased a cart and manual on ebay. It turns out, the seller was Willie from ArcadeUSA! My box has a price sticker on the top (original price $29.99 with a sale price of $23.99 in pencil). Anyway, I put the better cart and manual in my old box and now you can see it on my shelf. Question for you guys: Where is the best place to buy the protective clear box covers for Atari games?
  5. Here are a couple more that appear to be free:
  6. I can't thank you enough for walking me through this. I'll try to xbox.com/browser method.
  7. Games on the Atari VCS fill this niche for me. I've got the new version of "Haunted House" to dig into and also "Doodle Taxi". The main issue is time and it is totally my choices that are the cause. Gaming just isn't a top priority. Work, home chores, cooking, and family time are all in front of gaming.
  8. Thank you. My old one is a Pixel 4a, which I liked very much.
  9. I will....ebay fodder. 🙂 That is pretty neat! I have a chromecast too and use it to watch youtube (from my phone) while exercising in the garage.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA that celebrate.
  11. New phone! I know...boring. But it blew my budget for the holiday and we're counting it as my christmas gift.
  12. I think that is correct in this case, but I don't know for sure. A lot of on-line games like this can be free if you are willing to put up with more ads, more waiting, and less bling. Hopefully someone here has tried it and can fill us in.
  13. It's been out for a while, but I haven't tried it. My understanding is that you have to pay for basic functionality, like less waiting for missions and repairs and such. Maybe you should try it and let us know what you think.
  14. This is my go-to. And if a game uses only one button, I'll use an Atari joystick.
  15. Well, my attempt at this was pretty frustrating! This is why I was so hesitant to try. My existing Microsoft Account wouldn't work because I had dual layer authentication. So I finally figured out how to create an "application password", but that didn't work either. Why? I guess my account was already associated to another 360 (probably my children's console from many years ago). No way to unassociate that I could find. So then I created a new account, but that was a huge ordeal. I simply could not figure out their confusing CAPTCHA. I am not a robot. I finally tried the audio version and that worked. But OMG. Finally, I got my 360 logged in but it wouldn't download any games. First I'd get an error message about no credit card on file (these are free games!), but where is the screen to enter a credit card? There is none that I could find. After that message, it wouldn't connect at all unless I rebooted the console.
  16. Very impressive for the Plus/4! But still, you have to wonder WTF Commodore was thinking. No advancement at all over the C64. What was the point? It reminds me of Mattel and the Aquarius...a machine that was more primitive than every other computer on the market at the time of its release. It was such a competitive market, and they showed up to a gun fight with a stick.
  17. Mine is an "E". I have it hooked up to wifi already. I will try setting up a silver account. Thanks.
  18. I *finally* found a nice box for Atari 400. It came with all the inserts as well. And a bonus 400 that is very dirty but does work. My plan was to put my pristine 400 into this box, and I still may do that...BUT the serial number of this dirty 400 matches what is on the box, so it should probably stay together. New plan: Clean up this 400 as thoroughly as possible, make sure it fully works and has a GTIA (not CTIA), and then attempt to upgrade the memory to 48k. If all that goes well, maybe sell off my current 400.
  19. I'll put that on my watch list. I'm not sure where to watch "The Making of Karateka", so I'm sure he goes over that. Karateka is another good reason to get an Atari 8-bit. The controls (keyboard) work really well, and it has better sound than the Apple II version. It's a great game with a lot of little surprises.
  20. I *JUST* got an xbox 360 for free. I don't know how to access the store, but I'll try to figure it out and grab those free games you mentioned. Any help or any other games to grab would be most appreciated! I set up my profile on the 360 to be local (no MSN account). Do I need to set up a microsoft account to access the store?
