  1. I'm not sure if this is still true, but I think owners of the old version got an auto-upgrade to the new for free.
  2. Ah, good! I would say the game selection is MUCH bigger than the 5200. There are thousands of disk-based games that will blow the mind. Pretty much the entire EA library, for example. Or Datasoft. War games, adventure games, sports games...so much to explore on the Atari 8-bit. As far as solutions for multi-carts, I suggest starting with the simple "UnoCart". It's cheap and loads cartridge/tape/disk images. I think I wrote a review in my blog here.
  3. Is that the 2020 version of Missile Command? Because that's one they redid and re-released. I think the earlier version was pretty uninspired and how awesome that they admit that and re-did it.
  4. What do you mean by "Super Cartridge"? If you mean something that can load images off SD card, there are many choices, and all pretty inexpensive.
  5. BOOM! Same here. This looks like a lot of fun. A nice refresh for an old game.
  6. NICE! H.E.R.O. is a great game and plays great on the 2600. Enjoy. I don't have a boxed HERO, but I do have a boxed Casino. I think was one of the first boxed games I found (at Salvation Army) when I first started collecting in the early 2000's.
  7. I know it isn't retro-game related, and I'm sorry about that. But I'm excited to report the mouse also connects via Bluetooth. I like it and have been using this on my new main PC. Since it is a mini-PC, this means I get a USB port back if I use the in bluetooth mode. The PC only has six USB ports (my old big desktop had 12).
  8. So much 80's in one picture....

  9. OK, I'll post this week's episode. It is hilarious. OH MY!
  10. The Xonox games aren't bad! I think the good ones are Chuck Norris, Ghost Manor, and Sir Lancelot.
  11. Thank you! I don't have mine anymore (sold), but I do know of a local service that does prints for a small fee.
  12. The plaque is cool! And I have that same coffee can.
  13. Club VCS pins arrived today!  Thank you @Sabertooth  These are so cool. If you haven't joined Club VCS yet, what the heck are you waiting for?

Those look amazing! Akka Arrh is such a cool release, I'd love to see it on a 7800 cartridge released for the 2600+

You're welcome, Rick! I'm glad that you like them. Enjoy and thanks for participating!

  14. Judging by the "ST"-like branding on those calculators, these must be Tramiel-era products. And Commodore started with typewriters and then calculators. So maybe this was Jack Tramiel going back to something he knew very well just to drum up sales. Still, a really cool thing. I knew these existed, but I've never seen one in person.
  15. A preview video from Blaze! Featuring a cameo from LGR!
  16. The concept of "Toys R Us" never failed. It was the leveraged buyout that killed them with too much debt. The name and logo definitely have value, and I'd love to see another toy store go big like that...with controlled growth and limited debt.
  17. Pure speculation, but the comment about "Atari re-entering the retro gaming space" seems to indicate a much bigger presence than we've seen. I would assume including focus on Lynx, Jaguar, 5200. Atari 50 collection was just the beginning. I hope.
  18. An interesting update from Blaze regarding all of the Atari branded Evercade carts. They are going legacy (no longer being produced). From the article, with bold highlighting by me (the interesting stuff): At the end of December 2023, our contract with Atari comes to an end. This has been an excellent partnership for Blaze Entertainment, including work pre-Evercade, and we’ve been very proud to bring these great games to you. A particular highlight for us was the first re-release of official Atari Lynx games with our cartridges, not only highlighting the strengths of the system but introducing it to many new retro gaming fans and whole new audiences that missed it the first time around. With Atari now re-entering the retro gaming space, and Evercade having released as much of Atari’s available catalogue as we possibly could, it seems the best time to refocus our energies on new licenses across the 50 years of gaming our Evercade ecosystem covers. Therefore the following cartridges will be turning into legacy cartridges at the end of the year with stock still available from retailers for the foreseeable future: More info here: https://evercade.co.uk/cartridge-news-atari-carts-to-enter-legacy-status-at-end-of-2023/ It will probably be a great idea to hold on to those carts, as they should become collectible. This is probably a good idea for a future Evercade thread -- a list of all carts that have gone legacy status.
  19. Resistance is NOT futile. There are four lights! I ain't buying!! I'll just live vicariously through you fine fellows.
  20. A thread to post what's upcoming to Evercade. For October 2023, The Immortal John Hancock does it far better than I can. 20 new games are coming, and he's got the goods on them:
  21. This is true for me too, and that's why I'm so glad atari.io is here with these challenges.
