For this challenge, we're taking on Llamasoft's brand new take on the abandoned Atari arcade game Akka Arrh! The original Akka Arrh was a previously unreleased prototype arcade game made by Atari's Mike Hally and Dave Ralston in 1982. After failing field tests, Atari pulled the plug and shelved the game. It would not be released to the public until 2019, when the arcade ROM was leaked to the MAME community. Atari included the game in the Atari50 collection. Fast-forward forty years. Atari partnered with legendary game designer Jeff Minter to fully redesign the failed prototype for modern consoles and player sensibilities. This is not the failed 1982 prototype. This is a trippy, psychedelic expression of Llamasoft's madness! It's Minter unleashed. It's also a heck of a high score chaser! Play in PURE mode from level one and take the game as far as you can for the high score! Club VCS Recharged Squad Contest This game is the fourth title in our third Club VCS contest giveaway! 3. Congratulations and a big ClubVCS Squad Challenge welcome to @Marco1019, the winner of our Missile Command: Recharged challenge! Marco has been a member and friend to ClubVCS for some time and got his own VCS last month! He makes his ClubVCS debut with an abosultely stunning score of 132,840! @Mockduck defended his cities to take second with 39,000. I staved off nuclear annihilation just long enough to eek out a third place finish at 35,038. @Yorkies TV and @RickR round out the board, with "THE END" coming at 25,500 and 10,775, respectively. As the winner of this round @Marco1019will receive 3 entries in the upcoming giveaway (prize TBA)! @Mockduck will receive two entries since he posted his attempts via Youtube. Everyone else will receive one entry! I'd like to encourage Marco to post this high score on the Scoreboard so we can make sure this Challenge continues on! Congratulations again to @Marco1019 an incredible showing! Also, a big congratulations to the rest of the Squad! Missile Command: Recharged (2022) is a great update to the 2020 version, bringing the game in line with the rest of the series and refining the gameplay, graphics and music. Its tough as nails and the difficulty ramps up quick. But, as in the original 1980 classic, there are no winners in nuclear war. No matter how good you think you are, THE END is nigh! NOTE: Our next Recharged Squad Challenge is Akka Arrh (2023)! Be there!
  4. 35,038. This is from last week. I was hoping to get a better round in but oh well. This is a tough game even with your specs maxed out.
  5. Here's an informative interview with devs Sneakybox from Gamebolt on their approach to recharging Caverns. https://gamingbolt.com/caverns-of-mars-recharged-co-op-new-content-visuals-and-more
  6. ATARI, in collaboration with VR developer ARVORE, have partnered to publish the third installment in ARVORE's popular Pixel Ripped series: Pixel Ripped 1978! The game will be available on modern VR platforms like SteamVR, Meta Quest 2 and PSVR2 and comes out this summer. From the website: ARVORE has teamed-up with Atari to create an incomparably authentic retro experience using gaming's most innovative technology: a 3D exploration of the 2D genesis of the industry. An immersive, joyful frolic through the Golden Age of Video Games, Pixel Ripped 1978 places our heroine Dot in the heart of the blossoming industry. Pixel Ripped 1978 is the third installment in the popular VR series from ARVORE. The studio has introduced new, innovative mechanics that will delight VR enthusiasts, and the series ‘game within a game’ formula reaches new heights. The collaboration with Atari not only increased the authenticity of the nostalgic adventure, it allowed the design team to layer in countless easter eggs for fans of retro gaming and gaming history. The Story Dot must join forces with "Bug," the quirky visionary who developed the original Pixel Ripped series. Help Dot maneuver through multidimensional challenges to protect Bug's childhood memories from the evil Cyblin Lord, a villain able to break through the screen and invade the real world. In the game. The setting? The intense burst of creativity that vibrated through the San Jose suburbs in the late 70s and early 80s. Feel the mighty effects of how the Pixel Stone alters reality itself! What do you all think of this announcement? Any interest in exploring a virtual Sunnyvale office?

  11. So I finally watched episode 6. Personally, my feelings are a little mixed but I understand why so many are extremely excited by this one. It reminded me of the 2008 traveling Trek museum exhibit, but as an episode of tv. The 'memberberries are strong with this one.
  12. Hey, Welcome to the forums at I/O@Caleb Hick88 ! Unfortunately, there has been no official word on a U.K./European release. Your best bet is eBay or an import service. There have been some folks who have successfully used a buy and ship service and posted their experiences on YouTube, so that could be an option.
  13. Thanks @RickR! I wont be able to watch until the weekend. I will steer clear of everything Trek until then.
  14. As reported by our friend and ClubVCS member @Ballistik, PolyGunR is a new top-down, isometric, physics based, run OR gun from veteran developer Tony Barnes (RetroNinja)! The trailer brings to mind Vindicators. If its got near the polish of RetroNinja's BPM Boy, VCS owners are in for a treat! Check out Ballistik's video below! Is this a day one purchase for you?
  15. Release Date: TBD Retail: TBD Developer: RetroNinja Publisher: RetroNinja Official Site PolyGunR, a top-down / isometric / physics-based / run OR gun / shmup, coming (very) soon, from RetroNinja.
  16. Welcome to the official topic for PolyGunR
  17. @RickR- Re: The LCARS displays and other TNG touches, they apparently brought on Michael Okuda to help in Season 3. For me, this approach is what was missing in the first two seasons. It's not "fan service" to care about continuity and the history these characters already have. This is where the new showrunner gets it.
  18. Berzerk (2600) for the modern VCS. This was made available today following the announcement of Atari's acquisition of 12 classic IPs from Stern, including Berzerk and Frenzy.
  19. I just watched Episode 5: Imposters. I will not say anything other than I was entirely satisfied and can't believe they were able to not only continue the momentum, but build on it. I look forward to hearing what you all thought
  20. Flashback Friday returns with a 2600 title that isn't already on your VCS Vault or Atari 50... Berzerk! ($2.99)
