Yes, that's the Atari sitewide sale which began the past week. I'm talking about the VCS console e-store. VCS games should be on sale starting tomorrow!

  3. For those interested in this sort of thing, here is the required mid-year report for Atari SA as of 9/30/2022.  Interesting mentions of the VCS for you tea leaf readers out there.

These results are ahead of the release of Atari Mania, Missile Command Recharged and Atari50 so a lot of costs ahead of revenues. Assuming their Year End report for March won't be as bleak.

For the Hardware section, I think it means the VCS is still in production...just manufactured externally now.  That's how I read it anyway.

The financial numbers are not good.  I hope every gamer here who appreciates the new direction of Atari understands...WE NEED TO SUPPORT THEM as best we can by buying hardware and software.  The games they've been producing have been outstanding.

You're 💯 @RickR!  The last few years have been the best output from Atari since at least the Hasbro-era, if not the Tramiel-era.  Fans who appreciate the change in direction need to support the company.

The Recharged titles have been excellent and new IP like Kombinera is inventive and in the spirit of old Atari, and the VCS is a great achievement from such a small team. I understand skepticism among old skool fans, the XP debacle and crypto.  That said, credit where credit is due.

  4. Here's a link to @Davpa streaming Atari 50 on the VCS. As folks may know, Davpa now works for Atari on the VCS team. No official release date but word on Atari's Discord server is that Atari is working to address some backend/server issues with the VCS store ahead of release. The Atari 50 portion starts around the 32 minute mark. https://www.twitch.tv/villainous_davpa/v/1680667410?sr=a&t=1943s
  5. Out now is the VCS store for $8.99!
  6. I was thinking the other day, if you include the Flashback Friday titles, the modern VCS has had more official releases than the 5200, 7800, Jaguar, XEGS (labeled) and Lynx. Pretty crazy, right?

  7. Here's a candid two part video interview with Pedra developer Ian Weeks from Kraz Productions. Part 1: Part 2:
  8. I'm a big fan of the Jr. from an industrial design standpoint. It really looks sharp and timeless in a way most hardware does not. That all black variation was the Irish market version IIRC. I've always wanted to get my mits on one of those! Going to take a guess that the RF shield is just missing from the top pic. The tab locations are still visible. Anyway, great to see some appreciation for the Jr!
  9. The next two XP carts are up at LRG and Atari. Asteroids and Gravitar complete the 10 game collection. I wonder what's next for the line?
  10. I think that it's past time to either put the franchise to bed or pass the torch to a new cast and producers via a reboot. Indy could be like Bond in that regard. The trailer hits nostalgia notes but I'm unconvinced. I did not like Kingdom of the Crystal Skull at all. I'll likely see this one once it's streaming.
  11. @Ballistik - Moving this from the USB thread to here. 😉 On this awesome episode of That Atari Show, the legendary YouTube man himself, John Hancock, is here to discuss all things Atari, collecting, being a content creator with an amazing huge following, what his favorite Atari games & systems are... and more! Also: I'm trying out my new blue Atari spekaerhat as my mic this episode! Let me know what you think 😉 I also delve into podcast blast! & some news. Join us!
  12. They have it on Spotify, Stitcher and iTunes so I imagine you could download episodes for offline listening through one of those platforms. I haven't tried it myself though as I tend to listen to podcasts in browser.
  13. I recently became aware of a great podcast called The Ted Dabney Experience Podcast. The podcast focuses on interviews with arcade industry legends. I'm only a few episodes in but it's absolutely fantastic. Here is how they describe it: Conversations with Golden Age video arcade greats A podcast project by May, Temple and Drury, in association with The American Classic Arcade Museum. https://www.teddabneyexperience.com/ I thought that I would share it here for those interested.
  14. Sharing these great overviews of the PC-Mode USB from @Mockduck and @Ballistik in the topic thread.
  15. I didn't participate too much as most of my "challenge" game time was on the Recharged Squad Challenges at ClubVCS. I did really enjoy the TG16 version of Bomberman though!
  16. I haven't but the stock RAM is Kinsgston so the brand should be a good match. I use G SKILL Ripjaws SO-DIMM 16GB (2 x 8GB) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 3200 in one of mine and it works fine but YMMV.
  17. Alert: The UK/US/Worldwide stock of Ltd. Edition Evercade EXPs was stolen in a targeted robbery. EU stock was already distributed to Funstock and EU customers will be unaffected. 19. A new reimagined title from Atari and Jeff Minter:  Akka Arrh!

Coming February 2023 to the Atari VCS and other platforms!

  21. Release Date: February 21, 2023 Retail: $19.99 Developer(s): Llamasoft Publisher: Atari Official Site Synopsis : "A cascade of words, color, shapes and sound flows around your turret as you desperately fight off swarms of inbound attackers. If enemies penetrate your perimeter you need to zoom into close range combat and beat them back, adjusting to a completely different perspective in the blink of an eye. Welcome to Jeff Minter’s Akka Arrh. Akka Arrh combines the intrigue of an incredibly rare Atari arcade prototype with the unique creative vision of Jeff Minter to deliver a wave shooter that is insanely fun to play. Akka Arrh drips with Minter’s sense of humor, his love of psychedelic color and light, and his ability to flat-out create games that are a joy to play. Akka Arrh is the name of your star cannon, which you control from a fixed turret called the Sentinel. Your mission is to keep enemies from penetrating the Sentinel’s perimeter. If any of them slip through, you zoom into the lower field and take them out. Once cleared, zoom back out and continue defending."
  22. Welcome to the official topic for Akka Arrh
  23. Is there a web (browser) based version of Kodi? Many of the "apps" on the VCS are Chrome links. There are a few exceptions- like Antstream and AirConsole - which are true apps.
