  1. https://www.gamesenquirer.com/post/atari-reveals-new-screenshots-for-hypnotic-arcade-wave-shooter-akka-arrh Some great new images of Minter's Akka Arrh! I'm not sure what I'm looking at but I like it!
  2. @Justin- There haven't been any meaningful updates on Food Fight. During their November Discord chat to discuss the delay of Atari 50 for the VCS, Food Fight came up in the open Q&A. Atari's marketing head said it was still in development and he hopes it comes out in 2023. I guess we will see.

There was apparently a "leak" on Atari's website yesterday. They've pulled the image and staff on their Discord are not denying or confirming.

It should be a good one and an interesting choice. This is an even deeper cut than Gravitar. I'm really liking this pivot from licensing to actually making games.

Agree.  This feels like a great step into a game that hasn't already been rehashed 100 times.  I love it.

I hope they do a new "Rescue on Fractalus" too, although I'll bet that involves permission from Lucasfilm.

@RickR I agree! Rescue on Fractalus would be fantastic! Yes I believe Lucas, which is now Disney, still owns the rights, but sometimes games like these can be licensed a bit more easily than you'd expect. It's when you run into franchises, say like Atari reissuing the Star Wars arcade, where licensing gets to be prohibitive. I'd love to see some games from the Lynx library "Recharged"!

  4. Some eagle-eyed fans at Atari's Discord found what looks to be key art for an as yet unannounced Recharged game on Atari's website... Caverns of Mars: Recharged! The leak appears to have been unintentional and no other details about the game are known. We'll update this once Atari makes an official announcement! (Edit: Atari have since removed the image.)
  5. Welcome to the official topic for Caverns of Mars: Recharged
  6. Atari 50 has a handful of 5200 games of Atari-owned IP, as does the Atari VCS Vault Vol. 2. Atari 50 also has some A8 titles. The problem with all of these collections, including the plug-n-plays, is that many of the most loved games on the Atari platforms were licensed arcade ports published by Atari or games published by third-parties (e.g. Parker Bros., Activision, etc.). Licensing these 40-year old properties has a host of challenges. IP holders may be unwilling to license their properties for inclusion. Atari and their partners may not be willing/able to pay what is being asked. The IP holder may not be known. These are just some of the reasons we see the same old collections over and over again.
  7. With Atari's recent flash sales, my ridiculous speakerhat collection is now complete! Clockwise from upper left: - Blue Snapback - Bladerunner 2049 Ltd. Edition - Black Snapback - Fuji Blackout They are surprisingly nice and sound decent for podcasts, YouTube and calls when paired to a phone. I wouldn't pay retail but for the sale prices it was a good deal.
  8. I would love to hear what you think of think about the quality. This is essentially what the Atari 50 mini-cab will be.
  9. Here's a video from someone who saw these at CES: - None of these have an SD card reader - The handheld and mini-cab only have 2600 games - The gamestation has 2600, 7800 and arcade titles and is currently spec'd to output 720p, though this may change
  10. I've been following this since My Arcade started teasing images just before the holidays. My take is that these all look very nice. The Atari50/Pong schema on the arcade and handheld is on point. However, My Arcade does not have a great reputation and I need another Atari collection like I need a hole in my head. If these had an SD reader or a cart slot, I might bite.
