An insightful blog post about modern-day Atari at Stone Age Gamer.
-
This was a fun read. Thanks for sharing.
I've been horrible at finding time to play with my VCS. Too much real life taking up time. But I will try! Gravitar and Missile Command are on my list to purchase.
-
You're welcome @RickR ! It was a fun read!
Gravitar and Missile Command are both great games but Gravitar gives you more depth and gameplay.
If you like rolling platformers, I'd also keep an eye on BPM Boy! It's a timed exclusive to the VCS from one of the devs behind the "Strike" series.

Another acquisition by Atari! This time it is the M Network brand and IP, including 2600 games!

Another interesting article about the new post-Chesnais iteration of Atari. The 50th year of the brand could be a pivotal one.

Another XP unboxing. This time it's Crystal Castles!
-
THANK YOU for this!🏆 One of my favorite Atari games of all time, from any system. Tragic we never got Crystal Castles on Atari 7800. Maybe there's still time?
Do we know if Atari plans on a standard re-release of Crystal Castles similar to Berzerk?
-
Thanks for watching! Yeah, Crystal Castles is one of my favorites too.
I haven't heard anything about 7800 releases. It's speculated that Crystal Castles 7800 was in development and even had a number (CX-7817). It would be wonderful if a ROM or source code were found and released as with Saboteur and Aquaventure. That or Sky Fox!

Never heard of it, but it looks cool. It’s crazy how far 3D Star Wars games have come since Star Wars Arcade.
Speaking of which, that would make a really cool VR game.
-
Looks gorgeous 👍 I've seen a couple of YouTube videos, and it looks like an awesome Star Wars game.

Anyone else think that Apple may have had some inspiration?!

I know for a fact they did 😎

Anyone have an Arcade1up machine? Wondering about their build quality?
-
Anyone watch Floor is Lava? A giant approximation of an Atari joystick makes an appearance in season 2.

Apparently Nintendo is filming a commercial on Saturday in our building. Maybe this is my chance to be discovered? Too obvious if I come decked out in a Zelda t-shirt? 😂

Arcade Attack interview with former Atari producer Joe "F***ing" Cain.
A great candid conversation about his experiences during the last days of Atari Corporation under the Tramiels.

Atari 50th Anniversary Announcement!
Will be cool to see some news about the VCS and upcoming Recharged titles!

Atari formally sever their last remaining entanglements with former-CEO Fred Chesnais. The shift in direction since his departure has been positive. Hoping this is another step in a positive direction.

Atari's new platformer, Mr. Run and Jump. Coming to all platforms, including the VCS in July.
-
Been playing the new Centipede: Recharged on the Atari VCS for the past few hours. It's actually a cool modern interpretation on the classic. It has an endless arcade mode, 30 unlockable challenges, achievements, and local Co-op. Also, the music is stunning.
It's available on all major console platforms - Xbox, PS4/5, Switch, Steam (PC) - via digital tomorrow. Based on the VCS version, I'd say it's well worth the $9.99 if you have any of those platforms and are a fan of the original.
-
Here's a spot on review of the game. (Switch)

Cool, thanks for the heads up.

Black Widow & Centipede Recharged are 100 percent free in the Epic Game Store. A great way to try out Atari's revamped titles for free!
-
Can you beat Nolan?!
This is kinda cool. The Breakout game isn't half bad. The Centipede game is kinda goofy.
