  1. Atari released its financial Results for the year ended March 31, 2022 today. The summary includes some interesting information on their pivot back to gaming and a few tidbits for VCS owners. - Revised VCS go-to-market and development of a complementary hardware strategy - Atari completed the review of its go-to-market for Atari VCS, resulting in revised promotion, marketing and PR strategies to bolster demand. This resulted in an impairment on inventories and R&D for a total amount of €9.4M. -Atari is actively developing new and complementary hardware that will expand and dramatically increase the core functionality of the VCS. What new and complimentary hardware could be in the works? What new PR strategies could help the VCS? What would you want to see as a VCS owner? Let's speculate!
  2. This is one that has been relatively quiet since it was announced. Here is new beta footage from the dev of the game running on a VCS!
  3. You know that you're old when web versions of your childhood favorites are playable on the AARP website.

My mom lives in an assisted living facility, and I often think about what those places are going to look like when Gen X lives there.  Lots of arcade games, 80's music, and old consoles I hope.

That's hilarious!  That could be a great business opportunity if someone designed some tabletop models that people in wheelchairs could use and went to the assisted living and/or nursing homes to sell them.

  4. I loved Lego growing up but I'm trying to downsize right now. It looks like a very nice set though. More info from the Verge. https://www.theverge.com/2022/7/19/23269722/lego-atari-2600-buildable-console-games-price
  5. It's official. The Atari 2600 Lego set. Coming August 1st for $240. Thoughts and feelings? https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/atari-2600-10306
  6. Welcome to Atari I/O @jgkspsx ! Epic first post! I haven't tried the GCE Game Time Watch but Firing Squad and Blast Away look particularly fun. I'll look forward to your other reviews!
  7. 17,350 with the Classic. I had 4 balls at 16K and lost them all in rapid succession. I think I was too eager to take the lead. Still a few hundred behind @Yorkies TV !
  8. Up for grabs to a member in good standing with a rank 🍊 or higher. Free plus shipping. Intellivision Flashback Console. Colecovision Flashback Console. Both are complete in box, tested and working. Intellivision has all overlays that came with the system. Slight delaminate of Buzz Bomber overlay. Slight sun fading on both boxes.
  9. Mad Age & This Guy does not get a lot of mentions. The recent video by @LinkYoungPS reminded me how FUN it is. It's a cool steampunk take on the Bomberman formula. An easy recommendation at $3.99.
  10. Next title confirmed is Yars Recharged. Due August 23 on all major platforms. The VCS version should release earlier. This is not the version in Atari50 or the HSW sequel. Is this too much Yars?! Key art and trailer below.
  11. This is not the HSW version. It was done by Adamvision & Sneakybox. So that means 3 takes on Yars in the near term: Yars Recharged, Atari50 and HSW. What are your thoughts on the trailer for this Recharged version?!
  12. Release Date: August 23, 2022 Retail: $9.99 Developer: Adamvision/Sneakybox Publisher: Atari Official Site Synopsis: A daring attack against the enemy homeworld, guarded by mechanical hives that pulse deadly cannons and emit flurries of swirling missiles. Shoot from range as you find pockets of safety amongst the hail of incoming fire, and then dart forward in daring forays to nibble away at the enemies defenses. Gather enough energy by destroying the enemy’s shields and you can power up your massively destructive Zorlon cannon, which sends searing blasts of golden energy into the enemy hive. Yars: Recharged is a visually stunning new title from Adamvision Studios and SneakyBox, the team behind the Atari Recharged series. The indie-style gameplay is infused with elements of arcade, adventure, and shoot-em up punctuated by moments of bullet hell. Equally enjoyable on console and PC, Yars: Recharged requires players to remain acutely aware of visual and audio cues that hint of impending danger, and to master the smooth flying controls as they navigate increasingly complex enemy defenses. Atari Recharged veteran Megan McDuffee created the original soundtrack. The new game marks Atari’s return to the Yars universe, which is based on Howard Scott Warshaw’s classic Yars’ Revenge. Released in 1982, Yars’ Revenge became the best selling original Atari title on the Atari 2600. Yars: Recharged extends the legacy of this iconic franchise, and gives fans an opportunity to experience an expanded, modern take on the concepts introduced by the original.

Consumables, alternate routes, procedural generation, and many devices and gadgets add depth to the challenging gameplay of the original Meganoid A lot of collectible items that will change the main character’s abilities to navigate the world. Update: Code is currently off due to a "clerical error."

  19. I definitely tend to lose my balls in a row since the bricks reset midscreen with each loss. Some of the later boards are very challenging to come back from with the bottom row set low. I also occasionally have wonky paddle control.
