  1. If you're old enough, you don't need to be told who these figures are or what show they were from...
  2. From since I was in 1st grade I learned the press likes to hype and exaggerate things, some would even call it propaganda. I was in third grade when I understood why. I put most of the media in the same category as politicians, advertising and public relations firms.
  3. This message is nearly three years old, let us pick one and see where it goes next month.
  4. My Dad had one exactly like this. I was the last one to use it when I converted everything from 8mm to VHS, which I later transferred to DVD's and now those old home movies only reside on hard drive. Back in 1992 the bulb was $30.00!
  5. When I first saw that old man dressed like that I figured, what the heck? Then I saw his earrings and figured, well he might be a singer, then he opened his mouth and holy smokes! That dude was a spot on match for the original song, well at least as my memory figures. -- Good posting on this one.
  6. W😲W! James Webb takes another cool photo. A gravitationally lensed supernova 10 billion light years from Earth.
  7. The consumer protection people would freak out today if these were sold, but who can forget...
  8. I saw one at my grandmas house, but never in use..
  9. I had these intercoms and really enjoyed them, until new neighbors moved in next door with a pair on the same frequency. I ended up having to buy a new set with multiple channels. Radio Shack.
  10. Actually you can really jazz up those old polaroid photos by scanning them into your computer, uploading them << HERE >> for an A.I. enlargement, then adjust the newly enlarged picture(s) on your own computer.
  11. Oh gosh! Some memories are better left dead! I cannot tell you how many pictures I took with my 110 instamatic POS camera only to get back blurry pictures. When digital cameras came out I was so ecstatic!
  12. I'm currently paying only $25.00 per month for... .. which is half of what I was paying for 12 Mbps from CenturyLink before I moved. I'm satisfied with Xfinity for downloading, but it's upload speeds fluctuate between 1Mbps and 6Mbps depending on time of day. Now to answer your question, I only stream. Honestly, I've got too many irons in the fire to watch much TV, let alone pay their bloodsucker prices for a "service" I ignored 90% of the time. Besides there is so much FREE stuff on a ROKU you can actually spend your whole day deciding on something to watch.
  13. I did. He said it was a false "machine learning" error and that he would write a ticket to Microsoft.
  14. You never know, if you have room for a bigger plate, there are already 3D printed designs available. It's also possible to modify some of those design and add a smaller graphic.
  15. When it comes to the joysticks, I like the RetroGameBoyz all-in-one joystick. It's a self centering digital unit that has knobs for centering the joystick and also has the keypad built-in so there is no need foy Y-adapter cables. The UAV modification with an HDMI adapter brings it into the 21st century for modern TV sets and it's picture quality is only something we could dream about back in the day. Now of course if you are going to go to that expense, you NEED the Atarimax cartridge to finish the setup.
  16. Nice!! That is PERFECT for a game room.
  17. ... okay, I liberated a data cable, that supplies power (USB cable) on a temporary basis and hooked it up to a temporary antenna, here is an example...
  18. Oh yeah! My new toy came... but now I have to wait two or three more days for the power cord to arrive. 😔
  19. Sometimes practical items give one a lot of pleasure. My retirement condo had new, but really lame MANUAL thermostats in each room. I gotta tell ya, manual thermostats are a drag. I installed the one shown below yesterday, so today the heat was already perfect when I got out of bed, so yeah, happy camper here. ... BUT what I've REALLY been waiting for is supposed to come in today's mail... a new TOY! Since I have the day off, it'll be fun to play!
  20. According the Amazon, I supposedly "saved" $67.17 over the last 12 months, but if I paid $179.88 (before tax), that means I paid $122.71 for essentially a few movies and some limited music streaming. I could pay for CBS all access and get that last season of Star Trek I've missed.
  21. Yeah, $35.00 X 12 months is $420.00 a year... for commercials? Nope, not gonna happen. But according to this... ... it's currently only $ 179.88 before tax. Even so, I can wait a few weeks and bundle my orders. I can still use my Alexa, but maybe not for music.
  22. Agreed! The idea of paying that much month for commercials on top of the lousy delivery service is not something I care to encourage.
