  1. He's now up to 11 wins. Some stats: He owns 5 of the Top 7 highest single game winnings in the show's history. (The previous high of $77,000 stood for nearly 10 years.) According to the Jeopardy Hall of Fame, only five other contestants won more money in their regular-season runs than Holzhauer has won in his last THREE games. In terms of a "perfect" show (no incorrect responses), he has the two best rounds ever. 40 for 40 & 39 for 39. The previous record was 35 for 35. The games aren't very competitive but they are fun to watch.
  2. It's back & working great! No more Star Wars theme though. 😔 I'll post a more detailed video soon.
  3. Wow, great question! I've been a member since October 5, 1998. I'm pretty sure it was some vintage Star Wars figures. I remember losing a bid at the last second & being devastated. I'm pretty sure I sent a message to the seller asking if he had more or knew someone who did, etc. The site continues to be where any of my limited disposable income goes to die. 💸
  4. I did pick up Horizon 2 when it was free with GwG & I enjoyed it. I like how my friends drivatars are included & it’s very low-pressure. I can play on an easier difficulty setting & still make some progress towards achievements. I’ll like to try the new one at some point. The backlog is growing. 😀
  5. Here’s a link to the other creative announcements, including the other video game-themed ones. https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/the-9-types-of-2019-nfl-team-schedule-announcement-tweets.html
  6. Same. I haven’t played it since December but I’m not too far along, so I shouldn’t have to start over again.
  7. *Even if you can’t tell a football from a grapefruit, you must watch this!!!* So tonight the NFL released the schedule for the 2019 season. Many teams were creative in how they announced their individual schedules. The Jets for example used NFL Blitz 2000 & I saw a Pac Man themed attempt. Those were cool, but they can’t top what the Carolina Panthers did. From Oregon Trail to Pokémon Go & lots in between (including the 2600!), check out the 2019 Panthers schedule with a video game history lesson as the backdrop.
  8. Yes sir! I’m glad there’s another modern gamer here. 😀
  9. Yes, if/when (I'm sure it's inevitable) games go 100% digital with no physical options, it will certainly be a sad day.
  10. I'll most likely pick up the Pong version, but how can they leave out Warlords?!?!?!? https://www.digitalspy.com/tech/best-tech-deals/a27179449/atari-mini-arcade-games-pong-pre-order/ ***I see that Warlords is included in the non-Pong option. WHY??
  11. Is anyone else besides me swept up in James-mania? In case you haven't heard, the current champ is obliterating the Jeopardy record books. After 9 games, he already owns the top 3 single day earnings records. He's a machine. Ken Jennings holds the total earnings record in 74 games. James is on pace to break that record somewhere in the 20 game range. It's like Jordan, Tiger & Ruth in their primes, all rolled into one. Here's the first time he broke it (he's done it two more times & I have a feeling he's not done yet):
  12. Here's my thoughts. While I do fear what happens when you lose the license for a downloadable game (hence why I try to buy physical when possible), I also think the fears are a tad overblown. Example. I've been in the Xbox ecosystem since 2005 when I bought my 360. I was a huge fan of the Xbox Live Arcade. It started with downloading classic games like Gauntlet, Ms. Pac Man, etc., they eventually released soooo many great new games. Over the years, I purchased at least 50 games just from the XBLA. Some of those games are no longer able to be purchased, as their licenses expired & weren't renewed by Microsoft. Let's use Ms. Pac Man as an example. (This is all hypothetical) It's released as a digital only title on the XBLA in 2006, lots of people buy it & in 2010, the license expires & the game is pulled from the store. If you've already purchased it, the game is still on your hard drive & you can play it whenever you want. If you haven't purchased it, you're SOL. Let's say you bought it when it was available but your 360 sh*t the bed or you deleted it by accident or in my case, your hard drive crapped out. Guess what? You can still download it. If you log in to your purchase history on xbox.com, you can see all the games you've purchased & a link to redownload them, even if they are no longer available. In addition, I like the convenience of seeing a game, pushing a button & after a few minutes of downloading, I'm playing it. I take advantage of a lot of great deals on sales, free games, etc. & those are always digital purchase. One more thing that kind of validates your point. This one I'm more than okay with. I still have my 360 connected to the same TV as my XBox One X. There's a lot of games I still want to play on my 360, but many of them are becoming backwards compatible with the Xbox One. I would LOVE to be able to dispose of my 360 if the day ever comes when all of the games I want to play are backwards compatible. I think the disc-less XBox One is a good idea IF it was cheaper than the one with the disc drive. $50 is not worth the savings, IMO. Also, I'm not sure why retailers would want to carry a discless console, considering they won't receive any revenues from digital game purchases. I assume they make good money on selling physical copies, hence why there's lots of "Buy 2, Get One Free" offers at Target. Sorry for my rambling thoughts @Atari Creep 😀
  13. I couldn't find a proper clip (one on YT cuts off before the key lines) but here's a reversed clip from Seinfeld that I thought of when you were talking about the strange return address. 🤣 Start at the 5:00 minute mark:
  14. I'm looking forward to taking this ride. I think it's brilliant to bring back Palpatine (Force Ghost??). Evil connective tissue that will tie together the prequels, original trilogy & now the sequel trilogy. Snoke was such a waste. Other quick thoughts I have from watching the trailer: Are Rey & Kylo training rather than dueling? I think it's great that all of the new main characters will be together. Seeing what's left of the Death Star 2 (I presume) in the ocean was spectacular. Are they on Endor? Return of the Ewoks??

  16. I finally secured another victory Saturday night! It had been a few weeks since I was able to win a game. Granted, it's very difficult (this was my 18th win in 1,700+ matches) but I have been playing much better lately, but that hasn't translated into victories. So many things have to go right in order to win. Finding good loot, being close to the circle, having an advantageous route to the circle (not having to face enemies from multiple directions) & just plain old good luck (which I sorely lack). In this instance, my buddy & landed in a fairly large city (lots of loot) by ourselves. We didn't have to deal with anyone for at least 10 minutes. We were right in the middle of the first safe circle (the first safe circle is always large & it continually shrinks until it disappears. If you're outside that safe zone, you'll take damage & eventually die. The damage becomes more severe the longer the match goes on) and the next one as well. The city we landed at was on the west coast of the map, so we knew with pretty high certainty that we wouldn't have any enemies approaching us from the west side. Yadda, yadda, yadda, we were in the top 10 (us & 8 others). As that circle continuously shrinks, we hear more & more gunfire. My buddy got taken out & eventually it was just me & one other person. The pressure that comes from being in the top 10 is ridiculous & when it's down to me & one others, it's almost unbearable. (This is the one of the main reasons I can't get enough of this game, because of that feeling.) We had a great round & I did NOT want to blow it for us. Thankfully, I knew where that last person was. I was in an advantageous position where I was safe while the circle collapsed, while he had to move towards me. In this video, you'll see me watching his location (he's behind the shed) & me taking some extra health before the inevitable firefight. It's not long & certainly doesn't capture those last few hectic minutes faithfully, but it shows the win, which I am very happy we obtained. Thanks for reading my rambling thoughts on this Monday morning!
  17. Marino!! That Haskins card is nice. Otaro Alaka is a linebacker & is a projected 5th/6th round pick.
  18. As an aside, on this glorious National Pac Man Day, I recently became aware of a song that's 10 years old. Granted, I'm the stereotypical old guy who is out of touch with today's "music" (I've heard enough to know that term is being generous in most cases). My exposure to hits is when they are used in other forms of media, such as TV commercials & in this case, video games. I was playing NBA 2K19 & one of the songs that rotates through during the menus had some interesting samples. I think you'll enjoy them, as they are the best part of this. (Old school hip hop, like 80s & 90s is light years better than this and any other new stuff, but that's a topic for another day.)
  19. Growing up, I pretty much only played the 2600 of Pac Man & Ms. Pac Man. I obviously LOVED whenever I saw a real Pac Man coin-op in the wild, but those were rare. I received the 2600 Pac Man for my birthday in May, 1982 & I loved it. I may have been mildly disappointed that it wasn't like the real thing, but my 9 year-old brain already knew that it wasn't going to compare. I really enjoyed playing Ms. Pac Man on the 2600, mainly because it was so much more colorful. I also had the Coleco table top version but that only looked good when it was turned off. 😀 I don't recall playing an NES or Genesis version. In fact, I don't recall playing ANY console version (aside from the 2600 ones) until it came out on Xbox Live Arcade for the 360. Since then, I have thoroughly enjoyed all three Pac Man Championship Editions (OG, DX & PMCE 2), as well as Pac Man 256. I also love & am in awe of the 2600 hacks/remakes, etc. It's amazing what people can do with a 40 year-old machine.
  20. Here's one with the font, which also evokes 80's nostalgia.
  21. Is Defender! https://www.hallmark.com/ornaments/keepsake-ornaments/defender-ornament-with-light-and-sound-2299QXI3227.html I was so happy last year when these returned & I'm glad to see they're coming back again this year!
  22. This sequel to Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, takes place in 1980. I'm loving the 80s vibe from the artwork!
  23. For anyone who hasn't watched this yet (me), Youtube will be making these free to watch soon. https://variety.com/2018/digital/news/youtube-originals-strategy-free-ad-supported-shows-scripted-1203037846/
