  1. I gave up on getting a TG-16. Too difficult to find. Might have to emulate this one as well. I don't have the genesis game, either.
  2. If you are asking me then I will have to try in the future. I don't have Blue Print for the 5200, sadly.
  3. I knew diet drinks were good for something other than drinking. It powered your Intellivision! I'm never touching diet drinks again. Which is fine, I don't drink diet drinks anyway. Wonder if you could power an Atari with that stuff?
  4. Road blasters I know and like. But what I think hurt the 7800 as well was that the arcade division of Atari did nothing for the 7800 but gave full blown support for the NES. Joust, Defender II, Millipede, both released by Hal Laboratories was actually developed by Atari Games and then there were the Tengen games all by Atari Games. All those games you mentioned graced the NES. If Atari Corp could have licensed those games by Atari Games, which were still owned by Warner, it might have had a chance. But you also have to understand something. The arcade style games were worn out, tired, by the time the 7800 finally made a public appearance. The NES was offering a new style of game play, game play where the game could have been beaten with an ending. I've not seen anything like that on the 7800. But it had some good exclusives like Food Fight and Dark Chambers. I never seen or played Fatal Run on the 7800. I found it once on the 2600 but didn't care much for it. I love the 7800 more now after understanding how to program it and what it is capable of. In the graphics department the 7800 would have won hands down. Having only TIA for sounds, though, might have hurt it. However, programmed right and those two channels can be impressive as showcased in Ms. Pac-Man.
  5. We're here for you, Bro. Christmas was awesome.
  6. Wow! An XBOX game! Never played that one before. Will have to let us know what its like.
  7. OK. Cool to see but I have an issue with one of these. I absolutely enjoyed Fester's Quest. I spent weeks trying to figure it out and eventually beat it. One of Sunsoft's toughest games. If you got hit your weapon lost power which you had to struggle to build back up. If you could keep it up you were practically invincible. Mash was not too bad but not the worst. Platoon on the NES I thought was a bit worse. Because of the replay value with games based on movies I tend to steer clear of them. TV shows, too. Knight Rider I loved, the game not so much and Airwolf made no sense. I do believe Capcom got it somewhat right with Chip n Dale but it could have been better. Ducktales was considerably better. I don't know why but games based on TV/Movies don't seem to make good games. Games based of TV game shows don't seem to suffer such a fate. But how many Wheel of Fortunes do we need on a single system? Don't even get me started on Total Recall. Those that say ET is bad haven't played the NES port of Total Recall.
  8. The replacement has arrived. And I am very impressed. Needs some minor cleaning. Fully loaded 1040 STE. I'm still in shock.
  9. I definitely agree about both 2600 and the 6502. That 6502 was the most flexible MPU that powered the more common game consoles we all know and enjoy including the NES and Lynx. And in some disk drives, like the Atari 8-bit line, its smaller brother, the 6507, was used. Very good processor for its time.
  10. I thought you guys would like to read this. https://spectrum.ieee.org/consumer-electronics/gadgets/the-consumer-electronics-hall-of-fame-atari-2600 The original XBOX made it, too. Two great consoles that deserve it. One invented the game industry, the other changed the rules. Pretty cool.
  11. If interested, STart magazine did an interview of Hotz and the instrument you now have. You will want Vol 3 Issue 9, starts on page 22. http://www.atarimania.com/atari-magazine-start_24.html I got to sample a Tyros in 2008 in Springfield, Missouri at a Guitar Center location. Once I started sampling the keyboard my jaw dropped, then I was told the price and my heart sank. I went home with a Yamaha PSRe-413 instead but was disappointed in the absence of standard MIDI ports. Everything was USB only. Dumb. Would love to hear what you come up with using that instrument.
  12. I've been a keyboardist for a couple of decades and have MIDI knowledge for half that. To get my hands on what you have would be similar to getting my hands on a Yamaha Tyros...its a dream machine. The STs are still the best MIDI systems on the planet, period. I've had a Yamaha MIDI recorder combined with two Yamaha PSR keyboards (510 & 530) and always had timing issues. I've not experienced that with the ST so far. Does that Hotz Box have any drum sounds/patterns?
  13. Does it have touch response? That thing is beyond cool! Its said it can help amateurs sound like a pro and conquers helping musicians play instruments they normally don't use. Man, you got really lucky.

  15. Bootsie is hard to figure out. As soon as I try to create a boot sector with the switch the disk becomes unusable until I reformat the disk. Haven't figured it out yet. What puzzles me is how UK ST owners had a program that would switch the ST back into 50Hz mode on games using 60 Hz. So I am hoping that a similar program is out there to do the opposite. It wouldn't make sense not to have that. Maybe games made on 60 Hz units don't force the ST to change. Maybe the whole sharing of region-based programs outside of their region of origin wasn't expected so forcing a switch wasn't important. I will test out what you supplied. Are there any instructions on how to use it?
  16. Well, the STE was suppose to be part of what I got but, good news, a really nice replacement is on its way. Other items included a new Pac-Man shirt, a Moose Union Suit (feels like getting a hug from a teddy bear when wearing it, warm too!), GTA V for 360, a new Dickens jacket, a step ladder, and after Christmas I took up GameStop's buy 2 get 1 free offer and found the entire Mass Effect series for $10. Even the manager couldn't figure that one out because he said, and I quote, "We have the boxed trilogy set for $30 but he just got the same thing buying them individually for $10? Doesn't make sense." I agree but more power to me. Our Sears store left in May and we just lost Payless Shoes before Christmas Day. Our area is dwindling down on options for places to go to get gifts. It's either Wal-Mart or travel to another town or order online.

    Sears

The only item I got from Sears for Christmas was back in 2001 or '02. My grandmother got me a Sony DVD player for Christmas. Other than that, everything else came from either Penny's or other places. As for what I got from my Aunt on my dad's side, it most likely came from Sears but I can't say as I don't know but know that is where they shopped the most. Over the holidays, however, we would get Lowe's ads and it was odd to see Craftsman tools in it.
  18. Why end your channel? I think the content is great! At least I enjoy it.
  19. For 2018, I did accomplish a decent Wii collection. From December 2017 til December this year, I picked up over 30 games for the Wii. Only a few were horrible, the rest were good. Metroid Other M, Twilight Princess, 2 My Sims titles, and Animal Crossing top the list. As mentioned, 2019 will most likely be concentrating on budget 360 games unless a PS3 is acquired...then it might shift to both 360 and PS3 titles. Those games seem to be a dime a dozen these days. Wii games are starting to increase in my area.
  20. Well, I have a Super NES I would like to get completed (controllers and a game or two). As soon as I get that ST issue solved I'll want to track down some physical games for it. And since I packed away systems I don't use as often with their games I did make some shelf room, so I thought. I got GTA V for 360 for Christmas and I found all three Mass Effect games, also for 360, yesterday at Game Stop for very little. Tried to put them on the shelf with the other 360 games and, yea, didn't work as well as I thought. So, it all depends for me. ST games are costly but I wouldn't mind a few official physical copies. Being able to play the SNES again would be wonderful. 360 games are getting cheap at Game Stop plus I'd like to add a PS3 to the arsenal...last machine I am after. I will most likely stick with 360 games this year.
  21. There is a PD version of Galaxian here: Galaxian While on the site, if you want to try others, under the search bar on the left, click on Advanced Search. Once loaded, use the license area and select PD/Freeware/Shareware. Click on magnifying glass to perform the search. Most of these games are what I am having issues with.
  22. I'm not sure as I have never used an ST on a monitor, only a standard CRT TV.
  23. Hey Atarians! I need help and I'm hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on a common ST issue. As some may know, the ST got better software support in the UK. Their TV standards use a 50 Hertz cycle while here in the USA we use 60 Hertz. The issue is when a software program, like a game, from the UK is used on a NTSC based ST computer the screen will scroll. Some CRT and modern TVs can handle both Hertz signals without issues, some can not. I fall into the latter category. What I am trying to accomplish is forcing the computer to switch back to the 60 Hertz setting while loading a UK program. There are utility programs that boot to the 50 Hertz setting for PAL ST owners so they can play games from the USA. But i have not been successful in finding a similar utility to do the opposite. I found one utility that supposedly did what I was after but I have not had much luck in using it. Its called Bootsie and can be found in the link below under the Resources section. If anyone here can help figure out how to do this, and share with the rest of us, I would greatly appreciate the knowledge. I'm hoping that some of our UK members might know something to help as well. Please help! Thanks in advance. RESOURCES Atari ST Bootsie
  24. Our Walmart had a galaxian unit but you couldn't play it. All it did was allow you to hit a button and watch an advertisement and demos of the two games.
