  1. A thought crossed my mind. It might be possible Sony will have Dual-Shock controllers available separately at a later date ??? What would have made this PS Classic cooler? Physical media. Imagine, if you will, the top opening and accepting a disc-shaped EPROM media that never spins but contains the disc ROM/ISO image. Would have been cool to see and Sony would have been able to release PS games on an individual basis after the initial 20 pre-loaded games. Miniature versions of original PS games...case, instructions, the whole nine yards. While I would like to have one of these I am also most likely going to pass. I have too many consoles needing accessories ... and I'd rather concentrate on those first followed by games for each console. My SMS needs everything, SNES still needs controllers, power supply, and power port replaced, and my N64 controller needs an analog stick replacement. I already have an original and smaller PSOne consoles...I really don't need a classic version...I just need to get more games for it. My PS collection pales compared to other consoles I own.
  2. I don't know how many train enthusiasts we have on these forums, but Japan has developed a very interesting train system. 500 km/h or 311 MPH. There have been talks about using this train system in the USA. Wikipedia has more info on this new transportation technology. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_maglev_train_proposals All I can say is ... Amazing!
  3. I don't have any classic toys at the moment, but I can share toys I remember having. Buddy L Car Come Back. I had the Camaro but I remember mine being black and not blue. I will share more later. I got this toy when I got real sick. Mom stopped by Wal-Mart on way home to get meds and picked this up. I didn't take it out of the package for a day or two but had a blast with it when I got better. Cool toy.
  4. Its already been hacked lol. To play more NES games anyway... https://www.polygon.com/platform/amp/2018/9/19/17879042/nintendo-switch-onlines-nes-emulator-hacked
  5. In a similar sense, if going 1:1, why not make an original fully functional that also plays PS games consumers may own? I honestly would like to see the older consoles get another commercial run, built with original specs and components. Same with CRT TVs as well. I know, wishful thinking. I didn't think about the lack of dual-shock.
  6. Actually, yes you will see all those languages on an American Atari box. Not sure about the consoles but new carts in silver boxes rereleased by Atari Corp did that on the back of 2600 boxes...some 7800 boxes, too, if not all. Would make sense to see those on an American box as well. Make a single box for all console versions. Would be cheaper to produce. Does that box have Atari, Inc or Atari Corp on it, Leaf?
  7. OK. I like this. I want one! And two controllers?!? Nice bonus. Any info on full game list and price? Never mind...answered my own question. Well, one of them. $99.99 and only the games down in the video are the only ones currently announced. Downside, power brick sold separately. Still cool. Any speculations on the remaining 15 games? I will start. Spyro, Crash, Twisted Metal, Gran Turismo...all first installment titles. If none of those PS greatest hits are not included I will be shocked. Maybe one or two unreleased games? Hard to say. PlayStation was the NES of the mid 90's so lots to choose from.
  8. Not trying to steal your spotlight, Justin, but my experience was similar. One day Atari stuff was readily available, the next...it was almost impossible to find anything with the name Atari on it. It was like it all disappeared overnight. As I mentioned before, the last 5200 game I got was Moon Patrol on my 11th birthday. I didn't see anything Atari again until liquidated 7800 stuff hit a Circus World in Springfield, Missouri's mall...and that was by chance. I believe that might have been 1990, 1991 at the latest. Then I got a Jaguar advertisement in the mail from Go Atari. I didn't even know about Lynx until the PlayStation days. What most newer generations might not ever understand. Getting an Atari made you the bee's knees. Yes, there was Intellivision and Colecovision but it seemed like Atari was where all the action was. If you owned an Atari you were somebody. Everyone wanted to come to your house to play Atari. And it was always the woodgrain model that was sought after...not the 5200, 7800, or even the 8-bit computers...it was the little woodgrain console that captured what Atari was about and consumers' hearts.
  9. That sounds like a possible bad cap. There is also an adjustable frequency component usually in red plastic with a ferrite screw-like part inside. I have found issues you mention where that ferrite part was cracked...making impossible to adjust the console for any channel or for one but not the other. Try channel 2. I think the original specs were for channels 2 and 3 to be used instead of channel 4.
  10. You were never alone. I still had a 5200 and about 3 various wood grain 2600s in 1994. Mom kept asking me why I kept buying them when I seen them. My only answer was because it was an Atari. The Junior model I picked up in 1990, maybe 1991. It was the same large rainbow I have now. But the Alco store was the only place in town carrying anything 2600. My area was also void of TRU and any well known large toy stores. Our Wal-Mart still closed at nights and that was the only large store chain that carried anything of video game importance...except Atari stuff. They simply refused to sell those. The Junior model I have now is like Creep's...built like a tank! I just wish I could find those exact slider switches so I can replace them. It is the only reason why I don't use Junior much. That's also why I'm glad to have the woodgrain model so I don't damage Junior any more until I can replace those. Whose idea was it to make plastic slider switches in the first place? And I refer to the switches mounted on the board, not the covers everyone sees.
  11. Here is my first attempt. Fun game but have not spent a whole lot of time with it until tonight. Played on real hardware of course. GAME ON! 26,480 I am going to try to do a YT video later.
  12. Now that I think back, the only games I remember seeing on the shelf were either red boxes or Froggo games. Wonder where that Space Invaders came from?
  13. This is AWESOME!!! Always cool to see things like this finally show up.
  14. I wanted that hair-do when I was a kid listening to their first album. I'm an Eighties baby, what can I say? I liked every song on first album except for two. I Ran was played so much on radio stations and found on most various artist albums that it became their achy breaky heart. The other was Man Made. It just seemed out of place.
  15. If you already know my apologizes. Is that even a word? One of my favorite 80's bands. And their new album is on vinyl, too!
  16. The nice thing about Japan cars are the lack of mileage due to Japan's restrictions. Once a car reaches a certain age they can no longer be road worthy. But almost all cars in Japan have maintenance done by a professional garage and are used mostly for work or weekend commute. The 180SX in the link has 72,000 km. Translated to American miles that is under 45,000 miles. It is still a baby. Cars are generally not considered broke in until 50,000 miles. At least that is what I have been told. I don't know how much it would cost to ship but the price of the car doesn't seem bad.
  17. Sports cars!! Mom had a Datsun 280-ZX from 1980 with T-tops. It stayed in the family for 13 years. Not being able to find parts for it anymore Mom sold it. Ever since my love for the import sports machines has grown. And I've learned quite a bit about what cars exist locally and overseas. What links I share are of vehicles I have found for sale online in Japan. This is strictly so others can see the cars. It is in no way an attempt to promote the sale of anything. Nissan was Mom's, me as well, favorite sports car maker. They took good car of us and her 280 when we needed it. So I searched used Nissan cars first for sale in Japan. I found this. https://carfromjapan.com/cheap-used-nissan-180sx-1997-for-sale-5ae06f61e0f49d570ef37360 A silver Nissan 180SX. It looks beautiful and this is the first time I have seen real photos of one outside of a video game. No, I can't afford a new car...I can barely afford the one I have now.
  18. Ya gotta watch this all the way to the end!
  19. Good job, Justin! Unfortunately that now means I have to do better. . I'll have to try later this evening.
  20. I loved Tecmo Bowl and Family Fun Football reminds me of that one the most.
  21. Then the ROM chip maybe faulty. Sounds like the 2600 Defender I use to have. It would play fine for a bit then things started acting up until nothing was on the screen. I still have a video of that somewhere.
  22. Thanks for the sub! Wii has some Backyard titles too...I just haven't seen them locally yet. I guess I'm weird, too, as I generally don't care for the usual football/baseball titles because of their overly complicated stats system. I don't really care about realism as long as the heart of the game is simple and fun to play. I didn't even realize that the field in the game I played wasn't a full length field until earlier. But it's still fun.
