  1. This is cool. I like lots of flashy red lights. But my XEGS lacks a R232 port. I'd need one for SIO.
  2. I'd have one good enough reason...MIDI Maze. I think it would be neat to play that game, online, on real hardware, with friends elsewhere. I could then say, "Yep! I still get online with my Atari computer.". See how many heads I turn or funny looks I get.
  3. I wonder why those that made the SIO2whatever devices did not take advantage of that port and allow a similar internet connection or piggyback from a modern PC? Let the modern stuff do the hardwork and let a local computer handle signals to/from an Atari. Would have made sense. I found it and everything to make one is open source. I'm checking it out now. Thanks for the info!
  4. I'm not saying that modern internet is bad. While it did open up doors for bad things to happen easily to the unsuspecting it is a long ways from those early days. What would be nice is if there was a way to get these older systems online using the services being paid for. Imagine an A8, TI, or any other pre 286/386 computer getting broadband abilities. That would be cool! Does such a thing exist?
  5. My first "online" experience was with my first used XEGS I found in consignment for $40. Came with an XL modem, x2 551 disk drives, an Okidata color printer, and a program recorder but I don't remember if it was the XL or XE designed model. Included was some game and utility disks, some books and pamplets (how I discovered V61). It was 1998. I tested out the modem one night with BobTerm. Went through the list of numbers on the disk. The second number I dialed went to somewhere in Florida and it answered. I was surprised. I chatted with someone there and they shared some games for me to play. So I essentially downloaded some games and chatted at the same time. I have no clue who was on the other now but that was my first experience. It was expensive too. I ran my phone bill up from $25 to over $100. And I might had been on for an hour...maybe. But it was fun.
  6. Well...there goes the neighborhood. It's been nice. See you guys around. 😂 I'm going after that badge.
  7. I figured out how to pair my XBOX controller to my tablet. Not bad. Sounds are behind slightly but not bad.
  8. I'm at least on the board. I don't care for the touchscreen controls. I could not get my character to go right most of the time. 6,200.
  9. Default settings. 35,000 points? I got this...hold my soda!
  10. I don't own this one oddly enough. I'll see if I can snag up a copy otherwise I will emulate it somehow when I get home. I'd use my cellphone but I don't particularly care for the touchscreen controls.
  11. Awesome scores everyone! See? The 5200 does have some good quality points about it when it works. And thank you @- Ω -for joining us. The more the merrier 😊. Never be afraid or ashamed of any score. Post what you have and then try to improve on it. Don't let the scores of others scare you away. That's not what it is about. I hope to see all of you in the next challenge.
  12. Mine doesn't have GC abilities but it is still an interesting console I have a lot of fun with.
  13. Awesome video! I'm currently tracking down emulators for use on my Android phone. So far I found Emubox to be good at emulating GBA and DS games. It does more but I have yet to test those. The only other systems I am looking for are original GB, 2600, 7800, XE, and maybe the Famicom and SFC. I have also thought about the PCE. They have to be free and at least work. I don't mind ads as long as the ads don't interfere with the games working.
  14. I'm with you guys...while it does work I much prefer the real thing. Nintendo games have become ridiculously high no matter the system and sometimes game it is.
  15. I found a neat GameBoy emulator for android called EmuBox. It also plays DS games. I have not tried original or GB Color games on it yet. Nice emulator but nothing like the real thing.
  16. Very nice work on the Jaguar adventure game you're making. What did you use to create the artwork?
  17. Awesome score TI! Great to have you on board. It doesn't matter what score you post...for me it is about involvement. You posted your score no matter what it was which means another person is involved now which, in the end, means more people are participating. It wouldn't be the same if you sat out.
  18. Never heard of Mole Mania but knowing Miyamoto it has to be good. I was trying to remember the games a friend and I would play. He would bring his games with him and I had a small collection so it would give us a chance to try out each other's games. He had TMNT Fall or the Foot clan but I really don't remember much about it. Y'all making me miss having a GB Pocket. I should have never sold that thing. I had a silver one with no game and I debated whether to keep or sell it. I sold it along with a GB Color a few years ago. I had no games for them and couldn't find any. Then again I didn't think to use EBay and was sticking with local places. Never found a thing. Hmm. I do have a GBA and those play GB games. Maybe I need to think about picking up some of those old games again.
  19. I had Super Mario Land I loved. I had Nemesis, too. Fun game. I got Motocross Madness, F1 Race, Alleyway, Tennis, Baseball, Castlevania Adventures, Qix, Bubble Ghost, and Solar Striker. Most of the initial release titles are solid games. Alleyway is pretty much Arkanoid. I had great fun with Tennis and Baseball. All the games I had were fun.
