Funny but I submit any title has the potential to be an awesome Homebrew handled properly by the right person! I would love to see more "De-makes"  :D

Yeah, the article is just done for laughs, I get that, but it's comparing apples to oranges.

Early games were based on simplicity, while modern games tend to focus on complexity (just look at the evolution of controllers)

Trying to to make a direct port of a modern title on the 2600 would obviously not work unless the gameplay was simplified to fit the system ala Halo. However, you could also make the case that the reverse is true with 2600 style games not working on modern platforms. I remember when Hasbro tried to make more complex, 3D world versions of games like Asteroids and Centipede for systems like the Playstation that failed to make much of an impact.  Even classics like Pac-Man & Pitfall, while having numerous modern followups are best played in their simplified forms.

How about for their next article they feature heavyweight boxing champions who would've made poor horse racing jockeys or NFL punters who would've made poor linemen.

You know, I think I could see the 2600 trying to perform some sort of Terraria type game but the lack of a save feature would destroy the fun factor.  I could just imagine what the characters would look like.  I believe the 5200 and Atari 8-bits would have an easier time doing a Terraria style game before the 2600 would.

The 2600 is a good console but imagine trying to play those hidden object games.  Ohhh...now Zynga might actually get Farmville to play without issues on a 2600.
