Justin reacted to Smell Dawg in Crazy about LOOM, the Magical Adventure Game! CRT Pixels Only
This was a great video on yet another great title I missed during its heyday. Thanks for this!!

Thanks for all the information and recommendations. I should have clarified to add or not count Homebrews but that is ok, because I am slightly new to the Homebrew scene. I have played some of them but I was unaware that they were homebrew titles because I got them on a rom dump to an SD card. I think I may purchase one or two soon since I have seen multiple posts about them and the majority of people have good things to say about those games.

From the original titles, these are the ones I favor:
Food Fight
Centipede
Mario Bros.
Ms. Pac-Man
Dig Dug

Good to see, I have all of them except Mario Bros. I will get it if I run into a copy.

Alien Brigade Asteroids Food Fight Ms. Pac-Man Robotron (Twin-Stick goodness) *Note: My wife and I love to play Centipede Trak-Ball edition. You can play co-op or dual player competition, which allows you to shoot your opponent. That's nasty!
I won't list a top-five for homebrews, because its become impossible to do so. Our talented developers have made soo many good games, its hard to chose five and the five continue to change, year over year. I do feel that I have to mention Baby Pac-Man as this homebrew title is a home console exclusive. Maybe Atari can work something out with PacManPlus and get this cart re-issued for the 2600+ (which plays, via emulation 7800 games). This would make it available again to the masses.

I'll 3'rd A.R.T.I and raise you an E.X.O. 😉 Both games are by Muddyfunster.

I'd second A.R.T.I., which is also available for the modern VCS. The VCS is a great way to check out 7800 games, including homebrew, for far less than a physical cart.

@Cryptocoffee13 I also want to recommend A.R.T.I. It's not the cheapest homebrew, but it's worth it. In my opinion it's better than H.E.R.O. and I love the cut scenes with the old man and the airplane. This is a nicely done game on the level of what I'd like to see Atari release for the 7800 and 2600+

New bug fixes, including improved support for controls were pushed to Breakout Recharged! I'm told that even third-party spinners now work. Check out the update!

Just fired up this game after a while. Looks like my personal best high score is no longer on the global list and I have to start all over again! WTF!

3,850. Berzerk Enhanced, Game 3 on the 2600+ with a CX-40+.
A terrible score. 🤣

Not that anyone should have to, but did you try cleaning the cart? I saw someone reporting similar issues with Mr. R&J that were resolved by cleaning and repeated inserts.

That’s a bummer

My junior model only had a LED change. Everything else in it is factory. I tried two junior models, four switch, and 7800. Same thing happens. Rest assure the junior model in the picture has not been modded beyond changing the power light.
No matter what console I put the game in it is not working.

Even though original Berzerk is one of my all time favorite 2600 games I've been hesitant to play it again since I broke my joystick a few years ago when Evil Otto almost gave me a heart attack. That old tale is true about breaking joysticks playing this game. Now I have a nice new 2600+ with a brand new joystick and I hope it's built better than they used to be.

Let me know if you agree. Orig seems a lot faster. Maybe I'm just more tired today.

Way to go Rick! I'll have to post scores for both versions.

7160 - ORIGINAL Berzerk game 3. Honestly, I find this one a lot harder than the enhanced version

I will get this game on my VCS. I can't be the only one who thinks this, but when the pins are all lined up, it looks like a demon face of some sort? Right?
