Starbuck66 got a reaction from Sabertooth in Best Lynx Games
So for starters, no, I don't have a Lynx, but it is on my wish list. For now, I use Handy PSP on, you guessed it, my PSP. It seems to work very well, and it's allowed me to at least get a glimpse into what I was missing not being one of the proud and few Lynx owners in the 90's.

The games I've tried and enjoyed the most so far are Ninja Gaiden, Xenophobe, and my absolute favorite, Chips Challenge. I played Chips Challenge in the Microsoft Entertainment Pack in Windows 3.11 on our 386, and I was geeked to get my hands on the original portable version to play on my PSP.

Just looking for more suggestions on what games to try out next?

I've gotten the Lynx out and wanted to share my collection.  I haven't even tried a few of these games yet (Rygar, Kung Food, Roadblasters).  Reviews coming soon.

Loved HaCF seasons one and two! I haven't had time to take in season 3 yet, but I plan to at some point. Great show with some great characters and addicting story. I wish AMC would make more shows like this and less shows like Walking Dead.

I never seen anything like this in the 90's other than an actual Super Nintendo arcade machine in an arcade that managed to stay alive until the late 90's in my hometown.  The only other time I seen anything similar was at a church I played bass at.  It had a kids section that had XBOX and Playstation systems setup for the kids to play.  These were, of course, set up like arcade machines.

Well...now that I think about it, there was another place I seen something similar.  The Game X Change headquarters in Springdale, Arkansas I would visit frequently.  I loved that place because of the way it was setup and the employees were very friendly.  They had systems setup where you could try out the games before you buy them.  The cabinets were similar to arcade cabinets.  Everything from the NES to the Playstation and Dreamcast consoles would be in these cabinets up and running until the store closed for the day.  If you have never been there, and are traveling through Springdale sometime, stop by and check it out.  It really is a game trading store that needs to be seen to believe.  I no longer live in Arkansas and miss getting to visit the store.

It seems like when I've discussed this concept with people, it's something they've never seen or heard of, so I thought I would mention it here and get some feedback.

In the early 90's (like 90-93 or so) there were two different places in my area that I like to call console arcades. They would have tables setup with TV's and a console next to each, and walls of games just like a rental store (and would sometimes allow rental of the games on display). You would pay by the hour, and you could pick any game you wanted to play off the wall, trade the box with the attendant for the game, then take the game, slap it into the console, and play it until you wanted a different game. Both of these places had the NES, the Genesis, Master System, Turbografx 16, and SNES.

I loved this concept because it allowed me to experience so many different games and systems that I knew about from magazines, but couldn't afford and that friends didn't have. Alex Kidd on the SMS; played it on a power base converter at one of these places, and I had never seen or played any SMS stuff before that. The TG-16; something I always wanted when I saw it on the pages of EGM, but would have never had the chance to play had it not been for these console arcades.

So my question is, was this just some sort of unique phenomenon to my neck of the woods? I did live in a fairly rural county in mid-Michigan, so I think that may be why the owners of these places thought the market was there for this concept. Eventually the two of these arcades went out of business, and I've never seen anything like them since. Just curious if anyone else has seen anything like this?

Wondering if anyone else has tried this game? I just got into it a couple months ago, and participated in an event at my local game shop yesterday. I love how inexpensive it is to get into, and how fast it plays. It's like you can get your miniature strategy game fix in cheaply and quickly, with very easy rules.

Starbuck66 got a reaction from Justin in Retropie on the Pi 1
Hoping someone here can share some insights on this, as I put up a post over on AtariAge 4 days ago and have yet to receive even a single reply.

I have a Pi 1 that I'm running Retropie on, but it seems like the majority of the games I try on the SNES and NES have serious sound issues. The sound is slow and choppy. I also get some gameplay lag in SMB 3 and SMW.

I didn't know if this is a horsepower issue? I had heard of minor issues using the Pi 1 for emulation, but nothing this bad. My other thought is that I need to tweak some settings in Retroarch?

They bring it up from time to time.  I think Disney hasn't ruled it out, but its not a work in progress at this point.

Heck I'd even settle for another season of Tron:Uprising to tide me over.

Ringing the bell; I got a Turbo last Christmas with a Turbo Everdrive, and I've been having a blast with it! I still don't have a CD drive for it, but maybe I'll get one at some point.

I got to play a Turbo at the console arcade next to my house in 1990. I remember playing Bonk, Galaga 90, and Blazing Lasers. None of my friends or family owned the system, so this was the only way I got to experience it. I always wanted one when I was a kid, but unfortunately it wasn't in the budget. Having one and playing it now has been a great experience!

We are just starting to get Chick-Fil-a in Michigan; I think restaurants are set to open early next year. There was one across from our hotel in Fairfax when my family and I were doing DC for our vacation a couple years back, and we ate there for dinner the first night, and had it for breakfast 3-4 times during our trip. So I'm a little excited :-)

I watched this and thoroughly enjoyed it! It was interesting to see the type of deals he could swing when buying in bulk. I also think this movie shows dealing with people face to face helps when dickering on price, especially if you find people who are in the business because they love video games, not because they are in it for the money.

I think the main guy from the movie was a guest on the 2 Dudes and a NES podcast as well, the Zelda II episode I believe? Worth listening to if you haven't already.
