I haven't modded my Apple II with anything much beyond what was available back in the day.
The only modern stuffage I use is all socketed and simply plugs into slots. A more modern memory card of the same capacity used back in the day, just low-power & low-parts-count. I have a VGA output daughtercard that plugs into the RamWorks III and IV memory card. And I use modern flash storage solutions, which aren't any different than a vintage 10MB HDD from back then. Just more capacious. And one solution plugs into the actual Disk II controller card for even more authenticity.
I don't do accelerators beyond 3 or 4 MHz, if/when I do them at all. And I definitely don't do graphics chips or super sound boards or arcade sprite boards. I also don't do ethernet. I figure if I want speed I can have a 1GHz 6502 via an emulator on an i9. That gives me 10x machine language speed in Applesoft BASIC. I figure if I want connectivity I'll just use a modern PC with all the creature comforts of a modern browser like Firefox.
Another thing is hardware which enhances sound and graphics usually doesn't have widespread software support. Only a few titles tend to take advantage of such things.
I'm not a purist and do not require things be exactly like they were in the halcyon days of the 70's and 80's. I just believe that equipping a vintage system with too much modern tech takes away the flavor and essence of machine. It becomes less nostalgic. The very things that made it so advanced back then and so endearing today suddenly go missing when you mod too much. I mean after all that's why we do this hobby, for enjoyment of 45 year old rigs as they were.

I've added GOTEK drives to both an ST and my Amiga.  Other updates are composite mods to game consoles.  Otherwise, I'm with @Atari 5200 Guy in trying to leave things as stock as possible.  SD card cartridges and disk drive emulators, that type of thing.

Unfortunately I have not modernized any of my machines be it console or classic computer.  I prefer to keep them as original as possible.  The only two things I have modern to help enhance my systems, or one of them, are a SIO2PC dongle and a SIO2SD device.  I use both to play software I can't get otherwise.  It gives me a good way to try games and make a list.of what ones I like just in case I come across them in the real world.  That way I have a collection I know I will play verses one that I won't touch.

From the creator of the Atari Archive, we now get the Intellivision Archive.  This is episode 1!

Today's video details the creation of the Mattel Intellivision, the most advanced game console of 1979 and one of the (relatively) big competitors to Atari's VCS console in the early 1980s. We'll also look at the four games that were sold alongside the console at its test launch: Las Vegas Poker and Blackjack, Armor Battle, ABPA Backgammon, and Electric Company Math Fun.

My new P-Box interface card arrived yesterday.  It's been installed.  In a few days I'll be posting a new YouTube video...

A while back the TIPI board for the P-Box arrived on the scene which you could attach a Raspberry Pi to, enabling the TI to get on the Internet and have gigabytes of storage space.  Now this new board, shown below, will allow a person to get rid of the "fire hose" for a cleaner looking install, and have power for a secondary fan and a USB powered device.  Shift 838 sure is helping the TI community.

I have this saved to watch later as I have not been able to watch the episode just yet.  I've been watching Steve's videos for some time.  🙂

I've finally watched the episode!  That was one fantastic episode!  And they managed to do it without braking canon.

S1, E5 "Spock Amok" continues the goodness, albeit in a very lighthearted way.

💯 everything you said Rick! I had chills with the opening. Fantastic episode all around! Half a season in and they have yet to disappoint!

S1, E3 is the best one yet!  But why?  We've seen this kind of main plot many times before.  I think it's the outstanding character building (especially Una) that not only makes a lot of sense but has some real meaning.
This show rocks.  Riveted for the full hour.

I agree.  The move back to the episodic formula is so refreshing.  And all of the character-building -- it really feels like they are creating something special.

There was a lot to like in episode 2, but I think my favorite part was the Enterprise evasive maneuvers.  We never really got to see those kind of effects in TOS or TNG.  I feel like it was very believable.

I'm getting old, my nostalgia pangs are getting stronger by the day, and while I needed another scanner like a hole in my head, I pulled the trigger on a classic crystal controlled scanner.  I used to have one of these, and regret not having it anymore.  Well, I was on Ebay the other day a something jumped out of the screen and whacked me upside the head.  It's a CIB RCA 16S400 10 channel scanner in fantastic condition.

It just shipped today, but oh man, I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve waiting to unwrap his present.

I watched the first episode tonite and I really, really liked it!  It has that Star Trek feel from TOS with the more episodic feel.  You can see they will have character development through the season, which is fine.

Okay, after watching the S1 E1 episode of Strange New Worlds, I can say, I LIKE IT.  If future episodes are like this, it may turn out to be the most popular Star Trek series since The Next Generation.  I'm glad we are back to "self contained episodes".  It keeps the interest level up when they pack more into a single episode.

Keatah got a reaction from Atari 5200 Guy in Atari 5200 What is wrong with it?
I clearly remember the Atari 400/800 being the perfect arcade companion and alternate computing platform, and used it right alongside my Apple II+ and //e back then. We all know the super hits that were.. like Defender, Star Raiders, Centipede, Galaxian, Qix, Pole Position, and so many more.
I soured on the 5200 after getting one and rapidly discovering the software was essentially the same as what I had on the 400/800. Really soured. And upset at the money I spent on it. Combine that with ratbaggy controllers and weird switchbox (which tied me to one TV), and I wasn't spending a lot of time on it. Certainly not enough time to develop nostalgia like I did with other unique platforms.
Today the best part of the 5200 is the styling and futurism about it. That's still memorable and desirable. And in a big expansive living room entertainment center it fits well. On a small shelf not so much.
Since I do vintage gaming almost exclusively via emulation, I rely on Altirra to bring me the 8-bit goodness. When playing I sometimes don't even know the 400/800 vs 5200 version of any game. But I do gravitate away from the analog controller versions. Prefer the crisp digital switching of plain'ol switches.

ESB from PB as well. Unless you wanna count those Applesoft/Integer BASIC games on the Apple II that called themselves "Star Wars". Those were generic space battle games IMHO.
Aside from SuperMan, Aliens, SpiderMan, it was one of the few movie tie-ins I really liked. Up to that time. There would of course be more later..
