Meh, I'll pass. No need for a portable myself and other than it's ability to "switch" that they seemed to be trying to drive home in this promo I see nothing new here. If this is replacing the WiiU I am not impressed in the slightest.

I will say it really seems like another gadget for the Nintendo specific fans yet again. I get it, Nintendo is not competing with anyone else, they haven't for some time, I just wish they WOULD but clearly they never intend to again. I just not been into Nintendo exclusive titles for a long time and I am betting the 3rd party support will be same as always meaning very little and what there IS of it will be just be ports of games that are dummied down version for a less powerful console. Oh it would be nice if instead they released specific games that played to this new devices strengths (like Nintendo originally promised with the WiiU) but instead 3rd parties don't seem to want to support Nintendo with good exclusive titles anymore. I wish that were not the case BUT YOU KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE

Thanks much appreciated. One thing I love about this forum is the special vibe and feeling of "community" no other site gives me.

With that I would like to show THESE videos I just came across and want to share, now I did NOT create this particular video but it is by a user Daniel Bienvenu aka Newcoleco a amazing ColecoVision Homebrew programmer. We do not communicate much these days but back when I started on Youtube and he was more active on youtube and forums in general he often shouted me out, I reviewed one of his games and we would shout each other out back and forth. He certainly made some surprise videos that always amazed me he took the time to do just as a favour to me.

Flashback 2009, my favourite times on Youtube and back when it felt more like a "community" making friends etc. I was even part of Newcoleco's "Memorable Youtube Moments of 2009", this was early on before I had many subscribers yet people who appreciated my humble videos reached out.

!!!!! NOTE THE VIDEO DOES NOT ALLOW EMBEDDING SO ONCE YOU CLICK IT YOU WILL SEE THE OPTION TO WATCH IT ON YOUTUBE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In THIS one he created an ANIMATION from my Tag Response Blooper Video (The phone rang to deliver a package as I was filming) to me this was one of the nicest and collect things a fellow youtuber ever created for me. He spent 10 hours on it! Notice the Colecovision to the right and the "phone" I pick up is the controller.

I love Vacuum fluorescent display! From clock radios and early watches and calculators to of course a variety of early handheld and portable video games it certainly stands out! I found it interesting how they manged to make playable and fun games within the limitations of the VFD technology. My understanding though is the tech was more difficult and costly to produce which is why it was later replaced with LCD. They were certainly interesting for their time though and the bright and vibrant color is what really attracted me.

6 years ago I did a video which was a tribute to Jim Henson / Kermit the Frog. Not sure I shared with you guys before but for a laugh here is that video. I was considering doing a brand new Kermit Song Impression soon, maybe for Christmas.

I'm a huge fan of Daniel Bienvenu's work. The ColecoVision community has a rich Homebrew scene with some tremendously talented people. Nice of you to post this and get me thinking about ColecoVision again.

If you're going to go with a Raspberry Pi system I recommend the Super Nestro. Essentially a Raspberry Pi system modded into an original Super Nintendo or Super Famicom. Yo-Yo got me hooked on these a while back. It was created by Brian Gin, a concept designer in Redwood City, His store goes on vacation sometimes but he ships quality products.

MaximumRD reacted to dauber in Minnesota Fats Atari 2600 advertisement!
I was doing some research for an upcoming...well, project...(more info soon!)...and I found out about this store called Minnesota Fats and an ad it ran in the Chicago Tribune that, long story short, helped Atari's lawyers out immensely. Found out that as a Trib subscriber I actually have access to digitized versions of back issues (for now)!

I though this was a cool find. This isn't the ad I was talking about (I did find that, too, btw), but it's still cool to see...and apparently one of their locations was not too far from where I live now! The ad I was looking for was for exactly one year later, and this same picture appeared, and the price was exactly the same too.
