Chip's challenge is definitely a game that I would have overlooked if it were not for the High Score Squad.  It's a solid game, and I will definitely revisit it (although I will probably go with the windows version in the future.)

Man, I really want to find out! I don't think I even made it 10% of the way through the game. I'd love to get to the end and see Chip get his girl!

Good job on that high score @Justin.  Does Chip ever get the girl?  Frankly, I think he should take a hint and move on.

Congratulations to everybody for making it into the Bit Busters Computer Club! I was delighted to pull out the Lynx and fire up Chip's Challenge again, I hope everyone here had a fun time taking another look at Atari Lynx and exploring the world of Chip's Challenge. I broke into the 300,000 points club to take the top spot on the scoreboard. @MaliciousCarp knocked it out of the park being the only other player to break the 100,000 ceiling with a score of 106,210, taking 2nd Place on the board. @Sabertooth brought his best with a score of 66,050 to take 3rd Place, just edging out @btbfilms76 who showed up with his A-Game at 63,090 points. @Atari Creep @RickR and @Gianna round out the board all with their best scores! Congratulations everyone on joining in this challenge and checking out one hell of a handheld. As I always encourage others to do, I'll be posting my new high score on the Scoreboard, and let's make sure this Challenge continues on!

I usually always miss out on presales for popular items but I’m buying the lede. 
The most amazing thing about this is that I somehow managed to keep a $400 gift card balance on Amazon for over a year, specifically for this purpose. 
I still have time to increase that amount & have it fully paid for by shipping time. 

This will be my first launch console since the Dreamcast. I’m not overly excited for this as I was for the DC but I’m sure that will change as launch day approaches.

also, before you go down any rabbit holes- I know that in my areas Libraries have some / most of the equipment set up to do that and free to use.  it might be a good idea to check out what is available at your Local Library!
(That sounded like a PSA from the 80's)... 

I'm not very far along yet, but I may come back with some questions when I get there.  Also, I should probably just order that USB converter. 
 

When Windows 7 was still a thing - I used Windows Movie maker because it let me add menus and stuff (and publish a DVD image)
OBS can be tricky because you have to center the capture window and smartly choose your audio sources.  Once you get it set up though - I really like how simple it is to actually use.
It may be an extra step, but I usually run them through Handbrake to make the files a little smaller before I archive them.

That USB device looks perfect.  And it's good to know someone else has tried OBS and likes it. 
 
 

for slides (remember slides??) I bought a special slide scanner, but that was incredibly hard to use and I always got mixed results with it.  I had much better results setting up a clean screen in a dark room, using my projector, and taking pictures with a good camera that let me control the focus and exposure (Nikon D60)
As an added bonus - I didn't have to unload the slides from the drums that way.
 

so, I have been doing the same!  I bought a USB adapter off Amazon that has composite and S video.  hook up a higher end VCR (4 head stereo) That  I found at Goodwill and I feed that into OBS to capture it.  It seems to work pretty great for me.  Before I got the USB adapter - I tried a Hauppage card in my desktop, but the USB adapter works much, much better.

66,050 on my Lynx II with McWill. This ramps up quickly! 

It's against the nerd law to throw out a box like that.  The penalty would be an atomic wedgie given by Ogre from Revenge of the Nerds.  

I agree!  The McWill is spectacular.
