About 10 years ago I discovered the Atari 7800 after I turned an OG Xbox into an emulation/MAME machine and played Food Fight for the 1st time emulated, but it is no comparison to playing on a real Atari 7800 through my 36" Trintron CRT and S-Video using DRC mode which doubles both horizontal and vertical lines. I have my Colecovision hooked up to coaxial and it too looks great especially in DRC mode. I love my Sony WEGA FD Trintron KV-36XBR450.
I have built a few. Here are the MitchStick 8-Ball Edition for the Sega Master System, the MitchStick Van Gogh Edition for the PS1 and last but not least, the all leaf switch MitchStick Super CV Edition for the Colecovision.

Food Fight is what first got me interested in the Atari 7800. I built this Atari 7800/Genesis hybrid twin stick. It consists of 2 Sanwa JLW joysticks. The buttons are Crown SDB-202MX with Cherry micro switches. The first stick has a Sega MK-1470 6 button controller PCB with the Edladdin Seagull 78 adapter attached. The second stick has an Edladdin Easy 78 PCB. The ball tops are Kinu rubber coated and they feel great. Dual stick games like Robotron 2084 and T:me Salvo play wonderfully. The case is made from and old oak TV tray and the back of an old corkboard.

Food Fight is probably my favorite game on the 7800, hands down one of my favorite Atari games of all time!

Received this from Sean Kelly in the mail today. This is a game that really shows off what the Vectrex is capable of. It is a shooter that has varied game elements 'inspired' by other games we know and loved back in the day. It is very tricky to film a Vectrex but I think I've finally got a method down for this. Requires having to use my camcorders 24fps cinema mode so that the Vectrex is drawing faster than the camera can pick up and that reduces the flicker I usually get when filming. The audio is captured straight from my Vectrex Audio Tap I have installed along with the wonderful Buzz Off! kit to remove that nasty buzz. Hope you enjoy and be sure to check Pack Rat Video Games to put in a pre-order for a copy for yourself if this looks interesting to you.

The Stickler is permanently attached to controller 2 on my Intellivision II. I still have the original box. I modded one Colecovision controller with a Samwa ball top and one with the Injoy-A-Stick plus ball top.

I have 62 of the 69 officially released games and over the years I found that for me, these games are best played with analog control.
Blue Print, Centipede (best with CX22 Trak-Ball), Choplifter!, Defender (also plays well the Sega Sports Pad in Sports mode), Dreadnaught Factor, Galaxian, Gorf, Gremlins, Gyruss (best with CX22 Trak-Ball), Kaboom! (best with trimmer/paddle control), Missle Command (best with CX22 Trak-Ball), Pole Position, RealSports Baseball, RealSports Football, RealSports Soccer, Rescue on Fractalus!, Robotron 2084, Space Dungeon, Space Invaders, Star Raiders, Star Wars: The Arcade Game, Star Wars: Return of the Jedi Death Star Battle, Super Breakout (best with trimmer/paddle control), Tempest (best with CX22 Trak-Ball)

I have found that trying every game with both analog and digital control is a good idea. There are some games that seemed to require analog or digital control, others that are playable with either control mode but with individual preference, just play bit betteron with one control scheme or the other. I played and enjoyed Dreadnaught Factor using digital control but when I used analog the game became so much better.

I had forgotten about Dreadnaught Factor but is an excellent game on the 5200 and I agree, you really need the control of the analog to pinpoint your shots against the enemy ships and cannons. The others mentioned I don't know that I've tried with digital controls as I honestly use my original CX-52 all the time LOL! It is more usable than the 7800 proline at least!
So yes quite a number of the original released games were designed with the analog control in mind but I know that quite a few are playable at least with digital with some of them playing much better with digital controls.

A few years ago, early in my atari 5200 adventure, I discovered that there were 2 different rubber boot designs. The 1st has a low profile, level with the controller shell and  a 2nd that is raised ~ 1/2" higher. The higher boot seemed to center better for me so I ordered from Best Electronics 2 brand new 1/2" high rubber boots, gold buttons and new flex circuits and put the rebuilt controllers in my Space Dungeon coupler. It works wonderfully with Space Dungeon and Robotron 2084 much better than digital.. As Rick said, you need different controller for different games with the 5200. Some play much better with analog control like Dreadnuaght Factor, Star Wars: The Arcade Game or Choplifter!. Others like Pac-Man require digital control. I have The Wico 5200 Command Controll and the 2 rebuilt CX52 controllers for games that play better with analog control and the RetroBoyz and IKONSGR Genesis/Master Sytem adapter for games that play better with digital control.
