  1. @RickR Those are some pretty incredible numbers! If you had to estimate, what percentage of them have you played/tried? I have motive for asking that question - I'm ashamed at how many I have which have never been fired up, ha. Some of my lists haven't been updated/verified in the last few years, so they may be off a little. Lists don't include duplicates or digital purchases (not that there are very many of either). Like sramirez, numbers include homebrews (but not bootleg/unauthorized romhacks, which I have none). Per my most current records: 2600: 58 (and counting, ha) Evercade: 28 NES: 3 (sold majority years ago) SNES: 6 (sold majority years ago) N64: 46 GameCube: 11 (sold majority years ago) Wii: 3 WiiU: 10 GB: 56 GB/GBC: 33 GBC: 26 DS: 51 3DS: 64 Switch: 104 Xbox: 329 X360: 42 (remaining; approx 50 more lost to theft years ago) XB1/XSX: 124 PS1: 24 PS3: 3 PS4: 1 PS5: 3 For an estimated total of 1,025. Since I asked, I'll also answer: While it various from system to system, I estimate approximately 53.8% have been played for any length of time. And that number is skewed down thanks to the period of hoarding bargain-bin Xbox and XB1 games.
  2. Tempest 2000 Mode 395,896 via Atari50 on Xbox using Xbox controller I don’t want to believe this is already 30 yrs old 😅
  3. Just to add to the "what are they thinking?" factor, I don't see mention that this order is capped at 500 (like Save Mary was). So, out of the most recent three XP releases, the one with the widest potential audience (previously unreleased Save Mary) was the only one gated and limited, while Outlaw and (by appearances) Dark Chambers are unlimited preorders (previously released and still relatively common). I just don't get it. But also, I might be salty for missing out on the Save Mary order - the only one I really wanted 😆 Definitely agree with all your points on this, @Sabertooth Edit: Ahh, the recent email confirms that, yes, this release is also limited to the 500 copies.
  4. Dare Devil Atari VCS Difficulty: Hard High Score: 18,285 October 21, 2023
  5. I can see this being a very engaging title if Classic Controller twist controls were implemented!
  6. Hahaha, you and me both, with that one! I don't recall how much into the first Assassin's Creed I made it, but it wasn't very far. My lady and I wanted to play through the story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 a few years ago, and oh LORDY were there lots of complex (to me) mechanics in that game. We finally got the hang of it between the two of us, ha, but can't say it was efficient. Asteriods is the game that just never seems to get old to me. I'm guessing, between all the variants combined, that I've spent more time playing it than any other game, ha. It's simply the 2600 version, specifically, which I don't usually reach for first, is all! Let's see. I should probably get back on topic, here. Games that never get old for this guy... In no particular order, here are a few which come to mind immediately: Freeway It has everything I need - bright colors, a silly goal, and nostalgia from my brother and I competing on it in decades past. Aquaventure Not sure if this counts, but holy smokes I keep picking this one up! Circus Atari Somehow this mechanic just hasn't been successfully replicated. Easily my favorite paddle game. Sorry, Kaboom! Yars' Revenge Difficult to say anything about this which hasn't already been said, ha. ...and that's intentionally leaving out all the great titles I've been discovering and playing this year! Not to mention some great homebrew titles (I really, really love Tower of Rubble and keep putting sessions into it 😀 ).
  7. Yesterday's mailbox - "the eBay special", ha. Brain Games for me and Kirby 64 manual for the lady. Blaster Master for NES was a request and recommendation from an extended family member. Looks pretty fun from what I see online. It's been nearly 20 years since I've touched an NES controller, oof! Liquidated my few NES and SNES titles long, long ago.
  8. Pretty sure I've never used an apron for pumpkin carving over the years... but then, I'm absolutely sure I've never tried doing so in a dress shirt and tie 😆
  9. You definitely got me with that patch! 😆 "What the- no way they put that out, I would remember something like that!" Had to go look it up to make sure 😄
  10. Oooh, good call. The multi-button layout is indeed one of my favorite parts about the arcade. I don't recognize the Starplex controller, but that would definitely bring the experience home!
  11. Halloween festivities are certainly "a thing" with my lady's side of the family. Had a pumpkin carving party two weekends ago; had a traditional party with games/costumes this weekend; and it sounds like we'll be hosting this year's spooky-movie night while we listen for the doorbell. Some years we get dozens of kiddos; others we get all of seven! Much like RickR here, we make some cider and go walk some of the streets known for their displays on the days leading up to Halloween night. @MaximumRD, maybe you could wander the area outside, check out the scene, and pass out some candy outside!
  12. Been on the lookout for Fishing Derby for a while now (yet another "read about but haven't played" title) - finally found one at an acceptable (reasonably sane?) price. The seller had several other titles for sale; these other two were impulse-purchases. I've heard that Champ's version of Gorf is the far superior version, but haven't tried that one out, either. I see Mountain King evidently is an "untested" 2600+ title; not that it's a deal-breaker or anything. The "Ram Plus" box emblem, though, leads me to believe it probably won't work. Something fun about this old cardboard!
  13. Ooooh, I see that Asteroids is it a couple lists here (certainly not a surprise from sramirez2008, ha)! Admittedly, it was the single most-played home title on the 2600 for me long ago. Recent years, though, have seen many home solutions to playing the arcade Asteroids. This weekend, even, I put in several sessions on Asteroids and Asteroids Deluxe on an A1Up machine. So I openly wonder to the group - what makes the 2600 version never get old?
  14. I purchased a MX Master 2S model for home office a few years ago - ended up buying another one for work office, too. Never been more happy with a mouse! They comfortably fit "adult hands", too!
  15. Holy smokes!! That perspective is some serious cash for an otherwise lacking arcade port. Early video games clearly were not for the faint of wallet!
  16. After a previous comment about a Venture tag on a box, that Wards sticker was the first thing I noticed too 😆
  17. Is there any truth in the grumblings about Atari using Stella without making a donation to Stella?
  18. You weren’t kidding - Several tries just to get over 500 points! I second, though - the classic controller is the way to go on this one!
  19. Was recently going through some apps on Meta Quest and found Pinball FX 2 VR. Includes 3 tables for $15, with their usual "buy more tables" add-on packs available. "Well that might be kind of cool", says I to my empty room, "but I'll only get this if it has the Epic Quest table." And, aww yes, the three initial tables are "Mars", "Secrets of the Deep", and... "Epic Quest"! I put many hours into the Epic Quest table in FX 2's heyday, and seeing it in 3D VR was a new, novel way of experiencing virtual pinball to me. And, importantly, this is one of the rare VR titles where the player can simply sit on their rear instead of waving around in the room 😄 Has anybody tried these, or other, VR pinball tables worth recommending?
  20. I see this was posted eight years ago but all the same - I'm learning about this for the first time, and it appears to still be open! We make it down there once or twice a year, so I'm totally checking this out!! Thanks for sharing!
  21. The zip code dealie evaded me the past few months, but it appears to have me in its grasp, now! The only title I'm pondering buying on another platform is Haunted House - I'll probably pick up the Switch cart when it releases (assuming it isn't a code-in-a-box 😅) if the zip code error isn't resolved before then. Otherwise, I'm patiently awaiting the day I can get back in with the new game hype!
