  1. Air Sea Battle is single player in name only. The computer doesn't move and fires at a steady rate. Not fun. Like Combat, it's fun as a 2 player game.
  2. Latest pickup...

Neat! Never heard of it so I looked up NSG's review of it on YouTube. Looks very good! Have you played it yet? What's your take?

I think it's fun, and it sure looks nice for a 2600 game.  I need more practice, though.

  3. One more thing that just came to me. As you build your collection, clean any and every cartridge you get before inserting it into your machines. Even the Atari carts with the dust flap.
  4. We move slowly in the RickR household. Yesterday, a tree. Today, we start adding ornaments.
  5. Now we need to clean that cartridge slot on your 2600. Contact cleaner and a very soft toothbrush is my method, but there are several effective ways
  6. Emulation experience so far (I'm on a Windows 10 PC): Virtual Jaguar - works for some games, but does NOT work on Cybermorph Phoenix emulator - I was able to get Cybermorph running, but have not tried to play yet. See screenshot below. This emulator is in Russian, but there is an English language patch. Search for "Phoenix Emulator" and download that, then search for "Phoenix Emulator English Patch" and download that as well. UnRAR the first file, then UNRAR the second into the same directory as the first. I will try to actually play a game later today.
  7. On mine, it charges when I plug it into a USB cable connected to my computer (and you can also transfer files as MaximumRD stated). You can also charge by using a USB phone charger.
  8. I think Combat is the winner because of the various different game types (tanks, jets, bi-planes) available. It's an iconic game.
  9. Try cleaning the pins of the cartridge with alcohol on a qtip. Use a little screwdriver to open the flap first. This is caused by a dirty cartridge connector on the 2600.
  10. The arcade version has a black background. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING????
  11. I made it to that local store. They didn't have any Deanna Troi's...but I did add Commander Chuck O. Tay, Forever-Ensign Kim, and movie Dr. Bev to the crew.
  12. Here's a couple of cartoons from prior pieces of Bazooka Joe. I posted these already in another thread. But since there only appear to be 6 comics in total, it makes sense to repost them here.
  13. And the final card pack in my possession contains a player I really like (but not from Oregon): Willie Roaf. And also a "Goonies" card, which was filmed in Oregon. And #**$#&*! The comic in the gum is the "Singer or dancer" bird one you already posted.
  14. Pack #4 has two points of interest: A Bo Jackson baseball card. And a football card for Chris Miller who went to....the University of Oregon.
  15. No Oregon players in pack #3, but there is a John Smoltz card, which is kind of exciting. If I create an imaginary team with my cards, he'll be my ace.
  16. Pack #2 had no gum, but a baeball player from one of the suburbs of Portland: Wally Backman.
  17. Well, nuts. The first piece of gum I opened has the "I don't please anybody!" comic you already posted! And not a single Oregon player in the pack. The highlight of the pack is getting TWO different baseball cards for the same player (Steve Avery)
  18. I've got 5 packs of NSG cards to open. Only two have the Bazooka gum. I was thinking of having some fun while opening these...maybe try to guess the total number of players with Oregon connections? Anyway, I will post the comics as soon as I open them.
  19. More gaming-credenza improvements.

    • Replaced 2600jr with 7800
    • Added Atari 800xl
    • Moved Wii down one level
    • Moved PS2 up one level

And I've maxed out the switchbox at six systems.  There is a real limitation on moving the shelves around due to a lack of many peg holes.  This is the configuration that makes the most sense at the moment.  Thanks, @HDN for some good suggestions.

Looks great, Rick! Now you can enjoy many more games while the house is full. And I am very happy you got your computer in there. I can see you love that thing a lot.

  20. I have them downloaded and will try them as soon as time permits. Thanks!
  21. Also Indy 500. Not only is it an arcade port, but it should be considered as one of the very best home ports on the system.
  22. Kangaroo is in the poll, but no votes. I agree that it's excellent.
  23. Don't forget the first iteration of Mortal Kombat. Super Nintendo owners were pointed and laughed at with the watered down blood and violence.
  24. I'm going to throw in a monkey wrench here. TG16. I never experienced this system until very recently...but I'll tell you what: it's super impressive. For the faster arcade side scroller - the TG16 is better than either SNES or Genesis IMO. It's got clearer/sharper graphics sounds. Give this system a try if you have not done so.
  25. Fun fact: Just searching for the word "Jaguar" in MESS causes the program to crash. I'm not kidding! I'll try something else.
